A lot of people don’t know but frogs age is like 38, guy is not young. This gives a lot of weight to his journey. I think he failed Cyrus in his twenties and has been brooding for the following 10 years. He threw away the heroes medal feeling like a failure, which he was. As I’m now older I can understand how failure can be hard to recover from. I think frogs story was the best in chrono trigger personally
Couldn't agree more !!! Its insane how relatable this can be to lots of human's journeys ! Some things can be understood so much better when you are older through experience.
Especially when he chooses not to fight Magus, stating "this won't bring Cyrus back". Or while being called too soft, while he clearly states hurting someone just for bullying is bad. And he prefers it this way instead of having a bad conscious.
The convergence of the story to that specific moment is so awesome, all the story you have been through... when he charges up the Masamune and cut the mountain in half, with the music in background.. it gives me the chill in the spine! :P One of the best moment in my video game experience.
Oh this brings me back! And you know what? As amazing as these scenes were, there were still soooo many more deep and moving scenes. This game is so incredible... I so hope we get a remake someday
I think it was a combined effort for me. Lucca is smart enough to understand the metallurgy of the Masamune but Robo provided means, possibly acting as a furnace and power hammer
Maybe not the best swordsman (according to himself) but his bravado made him a better knight than Glenn. Glenn only shits his pants when he thinks of fighting 9:18
@Dimitrios Papadopoulos It's possible Cyrus was just being humble. He has a reputation for a reason. It's also possible that he was telling the truth and Glenn was actually better as well.

I dont think this counter narrative to make magus come across as a hero rather than a villain makes much sense. This is just extreme optimism, and I dont think Magus could really see this far to have formulated this complex plan. He could have achieved as much without having to kill Cyrus. Magus WAS guilty of murdering Cyrus, no matter how you look at it.

Frog's character truly has the most complex depth and nature in the entirety of the game with only Magus coming as a close second!

I personally think Magus did what he did in 600 AD to level up for Lavos. It’s similar to why Vegeta did what he did up until the Namek Saga
