  • Welcome to the LEGENDS: Podcast by All Day Vinyl. In this episode, our host Scott Dudelson leads a conversation with legendary drummer Matt Sorum of Guns N' Roses, The Cult, Velvet Revolver, Kings of Chaos and more.
    Our chat spans a wide range of rock and roll topics including Sorum's work with Billy Gibbons, including producing Gibbons' 2021 solo album 'Hardwire," Sorum's friendship with Lemmy of Motorhead and the wisdom Ringo Starr shared regarding the Guns N' Roses "Not In This Lifetime" reunion concerts.
    Sorum also shares incredible stories behind couple iconic photographs: a photo of The Cult taken for NME magazine cover from 1989 & Guns N' Roses Rolling Stone magazine cover from 1991.
    Sorum is an awesome storyteller and shares many amazing anecdotes about his career and the legends with whom he plays and produces.     Matt Sorum will always be Guns N’ Roses to me. He saved that band in 1990, and the music he made with them on the Use Your Illusion albums will never be forgotten. Love you Matt!

      Agree but there were also plenty of amazing hired gun drummers out there during those days which means anyone would've loved to be in that band ...

      @@juanmagdalena2544true…I just think the knew who would fit and who wouldn’t. Slash really thought Matt was one of the best drummers at that time. Izzy was the only one who had an issue with the change. But if Steven couldn’t play the UYI songs, Izzy really didn’t have a leg to stand on. When you’re in a professional band, you have to play accordingly. Steven was great for Appetite. I just don’t think he had the power as a drummer for many of the UYI songs such as Coma and Locomotive, for example.

    Matt was amazing when he was in Guns.. Shame Axl won't allow him into his band. Duff & Slash shouldn't have went without Matt. But we all know Slash has no loyalty.
