I met Sasha in 2004 on KMFDMs 20th anniversary tour. That was so cool. He signed my poster and we got a picture together. It was "Ultra"rare for anyone to come play near where I live.

I'm going to see KMFDM play in Detroit next month and I'm so incredibly excited! I tried to get my dad drive me to Detroit to see MDFMK play when I was 14 or 15 years old before I had a drivers license and I lived about an hour away. Lucia was so incredibly beautiful back then, as still is to this day!

One of the few bands that actually exceed your expectations when you meet them. They’re so kind, friendly, funny, and respectful of fans. Back in ‘08 I met Jules, Steve White & Andy Selway (Goddamn that former-PIG & KMFDM lineup was good - only outdone by the OG lineups, especially with Raymond Watts & Günther Schultz). They were the sweetest! I was so nervous asking for a selfie… something society considered “narcissistic” at the time until A-List celebrities did selfies unironically - and Jules just put his arm around me to squeeze into the shot. Then Steve & Andy (miss them!) got on either side of me, doing hilarious poses & cracking jokes that got me laughing so hard I couldn’t a single non-blurry shot. But I didn’t care how the shots looked - it was just about capturing this moment, cementing it to memory that, yes - THIS did really happen! Then years later after moving to LA, I attended another KMFDM show, and sure enough, just like clockwork, they hung out after the show by the tour bus for the fans. Every single KMFDM fan I’ve ever met at a show has been friendly & chill as hell. This time, I attended the concert alone, but had no shortage of community while we all took turns shaking hands with the band, and taking pics for eachother. Finally, no blurry nighttime selfies. And Jules, unprompted, said I looked familiar and asked if we’d met at another show before.
I’ve met many of my favorite musicians, and maybe half of em more than once - including the Lord of Lard, Raymond Watts, whose charismatic & kind AF - but only Jules apparently semi-recognized me, and/or was vocal about how he’d sworn he’d seen me before… likely at another show. And, no, this wasn’t some weird pickup line given he was genuinely sincere, didn’t say this the first time we met, nor repeat it to another fan at either show. Anyways, it was quite a surreal moment. I’m sure a couple other musicians here and there might have “recognized” me (like other fans they’ve met more than once), but prob don’t mention it for a number of reasons; including the risk of being wrong (no one’s immune to embarasssment), or concerns some uninhibited fan might read too far into it… There are a number of things that might make me more likely to stand out a tiny bit more than the avg concertgoer: I’ve long been told by complete strangers I have a “unique look” (back in the Midwest I was called “exotic,” whatever the hell that means… I’m a minority, yes, but not a POC… so their cognitive dissonance leads to interrogating me about “where I’m from,” or if I’m “mixed”… and no, this line of questioning wasn’t coming exclusively from WASPs) which is more likely to make an impression on British/European musicians (from less ethnically diverse populations). I’m also one of the relatively small number of female metal/industrial concert-goers, and since moving to LA I almost exclusively attend more intimate shows in smaller clubs (benefit of living in LA/being into bands outside the mainstream), and at these venues I usually make it to the very front where fans often get to interact with band members on stage - because I’m short AF & out here (compared to Midwest) there’s far less risk of being physically retaliated on for squeezing my tiny self to the front so I can actually see AND get enough distance from mosh pit to fully enjoy (undistracted by getting hit, shoved, knocked-out or squashed).
So long explanation short, all things considered - there are factors that can make a concertgoer more likely to “stand out” in a crowd. And that was a really amazing moment for my nobody ass. Especially if you’re a female that refuses to be intimidated out of metal shows 🤘🏼 And sadly, have yet to formally “meet” Sascha or Lucia, but I’ve seen them outside venues right before they hop on the bus. They’re just more private in general, or at least Sascha is. Last show I attended, Lucia was stopped by a fan right outside the doors wanting to talk music, and they got to chatting. Instantly, a line formed right behind him, all waiting to meet Lucia! She stayed & met every single fan, despite being totally spur of the moment. Unfortunately, I had to work early the next morning, so sadly I couldn’t stick around. She’s a beautiful person tho, inside and out. Period.

Apparently there was supposed to be a second album, but the record company was holding onto it close to the vest.
I'm sure a lot of those ideas made it out onto other albums later on anyway.
But yes, MDFMK had a bit of a distinct sound to it. Likely Tim Sklod's influence. So perhaps we can consider KMFDM vs. Skold a sort of MDFMK 1.5?

This is *MDFMK* not KMFDM. A side project that started after KMFDM went on an indefinite hiatus. They released one iconic self-titled album, before KMFDM reformed with the addition of Lucia as a permanent member.
Sköld, however, went a different way. He chose money over KMFDM (and well, basic human ethics), and left to join Marilyn Manson full time... And now he can't even pull his solo career off the floor where his dignity lies. Mind boggling how someone who wrote some of the most lyrically politically progressive songs in KMFDM, like "Anarchy," could end-up a card carrying Neo-Nazi in clown makeup. A terrible disgrace I prefer to remember as he used to be when it comes to his brilliant contributions to KMFDM & MDFMK, not who and what he became afterwards.
