Yeh man. I always backed Ten Hag, but defending that made it a thankless task. If you haven't got the back line to play high, have a mid block FFS, and don't have acres of space for our defence to get run on.
Really feels like Bruno trying too hard, out of sync with team, and Rashford not paying enough attention to his defensive responsibilities really tanked us out of possession.
Thats a load of BS, firstly Rashford has done more defending in the last 2 games then Dalot has who's meant to be the RB, against West Ham Dalot spent more time up the pitch then Rashford cause thats what ETH wanted for some weird reason, 2ndly why the hell do you want a winger to track back for thats what the defence is there for and when Rashford is one of if not the deadliest forwards we have surely youd want him to be up the pitch where hes at his best then in our own half having to defend, the narrative around Rashford is just ridiculous
Ten hag has struggled to get the best out of Bruno by giving him way too much to do, Bruno was lethal when he was played as nearly a second striker. United need goals & Bruno was a machine before.
Yeh that was the only thing I disagreed with. Mainoo looks knackered after one sprint. And his sprinting is like a gravenberch or declan rice fast jog. We just don't have many athletes. Hojland, rashford, garna, dalot are about all we've got.
I believe it's about versatility. Mainoo is more agile, has more flair that could make him thrive on opponent's half. Meanwhile, Ugarte has better physicality that would be no use when he goes forward as the opponent would start closing the space down.
Mainoo is a victim of lack of rotation from ten Hag. In Mainoo's first few matches the kid had no issues getting up and down the pitch and putting in goal line clearances. He should've been eased in a bit more slowly, I guess the injury is what it took for him to get some rest.
Worried about what happens next. We can quote these stats about xG and our pressing/transition statistics that show that ETH was getting something right. But we can't score - often just down to individual errors/lack of quality in the final third. How does a new manager change that without spending a shed load more money?
@@FIRELINK75on the basis of what? Do you think his age means he can’t stay up to date with the new trends or that he loses his understanding of football? Let’s not be ageist now
My biggest problem with Ten Hag was that as soon as our keeper has the ball the fullbacks push up to the halfway line. So whenever we lose the ball in midfield it was so easy for the other team to attack us through the middle or behind the fullbacks.
Can all get up there with a tactics board and say what someone should be doing. See this a lot from Fergies former backroom staff, Rene, Phelan etc going on the radio claiming they were 'basically managing day to day'. How did they get on as a #1 when they had to make all the decisions? Shite. Totally different ball game when you're the actual manager making all the decisions. Sure Ten Hag made plenty of mistakes but try this with the Man Utd squad Rene. Explain what you want them to do just like this, where do you cover on the board when they start passing the ball to the opposition, shooting from all over the place, collapse mentally. Man Utd are failing for longer than Ten Hag has been there.
Most of the players are now Ten Hags signings and if they aren't doing what you want on the pitch then drop them. Ten Hag continued to play out of form players like Rashford and Bruno week in week out. Also his signings have been poor. 90 million for Antony and 110 million spent on Hojlund and Zirkzee for a total of two goals.
He did, but you work with what you have. Injuries plagued the backline for a year straight, still are now. Rashford doesn't play the way ETH is asking, that is clear, and the midfield is too slow. Strikers are young and inexperienced. Recruitment was good, but wasn't enough to get rid of the dead weight
Not having a left back for 2 years will get anyone sacked, most of his tactical eccentricties stemmed from compensating for playing Dalot or someone else there. Then of course the recruitment was mostly poor, again not ETH's fault MUFC have neglected this area for 20 years.
Apparently you did'nt read the club's statement. Ruud will be interim until they find the most suitable replacement. They have no intention of giving Ruud a permanent role.
Why United is not trying a back 3 I cannot understand. We have so many centrebacks right now, and even if you don't count the average ones, there is still Martinez, de Ligt (I expect him to find his feet and come good in the EPL over the next 6 mths), and Leny Yoro coming up after recovering from injury. All 3 of them have to play regularly for their own redevelopment and for United's long-term benefit. Plus, a back 3 solves a lot of the current issues. And a front 2 should not be a problem for us cos Garnacho, Rashford, Diallo, Zirkzee are all very mobile and can switch between central and both wings. Hojlund can stay in the centre while his partner, one of those 4, will move around, creating space for the wingbacks, pulling defenders away etc. With a back 3, if you want to play defensively, midfield will be a triangle with 2 pivots. If you want to play attacking, invert the triangle and play only 1 pivot. And if you really want to go for it, push one of the CB into midfield in a 1-1-2. Ultra defensive? Midfield triangle becomes a flat-3 or just move the triangle a bit deeper. It's versatile and easy to understand for the players.
But Manchester City do change back line times to times, as long as everyone is training together, if you come into the team you should be able to perform.
one thing is to have 2 or 3 guys always playing 80% of games in pre-defined positions when they come in than whatever was happening with ten hag. think of liverpool for example, VVD, Konaté and TAA are part of the back 4, Robertson isn't fit nor in a good level by now so he's being subbed on and off byTsimikas and when TAA isn't fit Bradley plays but that's it, maybe a game where Quansah comes in but you more or less have the same 3 or 4 guys playing.
United should bring him back to support the new manager. If Ole brought in Rene as a coach instead of Phelan (no disrespect to Mick) he might have fared better
The main problem with Ten Hang is that he didn't bring out the best in his players because he is too regid. Ole's team was a lot more flexible, and they individually performed better even if they had a bit less quality (or were already too old). Pogba was having one of his best form playing even though his head was already out of the club, and that was because he finally got some freedom and flexibility to his game. It is Man Utd's DNA to allow players express themselves, Ole is the only manager that has allowed this so far since Fergie, little wonder then that his team has been the most entertaining. I wish we can get a similar Manager with a lot more tactical acumen - like Carlo Ancelloti or Zidane.
Still confused at the insistence to keep playing our wingers on the opposite side to their strongest foot, ie a right footer on our left and a left footer on our right!!
None of this is rocket science. You have a style of play and you tell the players what that is. You work on it in training, till it becomes second nature. If your players don't do what you want or are incapable, you drop them and bring in someone else. Let's not over-complicate this. It's football. If Rashford's job includes helping out defensively and he doesn't do that, bench him or sell him. I played at Amateur level and as much as I found this interesting, I've learned nothing new from this analysis from Meulensteen. We need to find a fit left back and right winger and it's clear that neither Casemiro or Erikson are good enough off the ball, so long as we're outnumbered in midfield. Ugarte and Mainoo are the future in the engine room!
Spot on, all top teams play to a system, the old round pegs in round hole's, works, each team is easier to replace a player in a system, you work on coaching, we just bought names, we have the wrong players period. I was screaming for McAllister from Brighton before the world cup, but no , we need a battling physical midfielders. Bruno Eriksson get rid , Antony will be a good lwb he is physical.
When the Utd hierarchy sacked Rangnick, he would've the perfect additional eye to manage the club, EtH was left in the lurch from that point on, he had to manage the squad and the club
in the first half of the West Ham game Man Utd played with intricate short passes that created a lot of chances but innthe second half it was unnecessary long balls
All the.defenders should know where the pattern of the back line the team play weather they are a regular or not tho, in the whole team should have a roughy idea of the position in the game if they have been train together. It shows that the way we train isn’t good. Go back to 442 please.
I'm sure he did. But the players tend to do what they feel to do on the pitch. Why would ten Hag have spent so much time and effort in training for his players to perform like they've never kicked a ball in their lives?

Yeh that was the only thing I disagreed with. Mainoo looks knackered after one sprint. And his sprinting is like a gravenberch or declan rice fast jog.
We just don't have many athletes. Hojland, rashford, garna, dalot are about all we've got.
I think he meant mobility on the ball, not necessarily covering ground but maino shouldn’t be playing these many games that’s the problem lol
Mainoo is phucking slow , I'd pick Ugarte any day
I believe it's about versatility.
He just has to spend and INEOS have to look for that funds
Exactly. We never sustain attacks the way we used too. Not in the past 10 years
We need to get Rene back in the club
no please... outdated
@@FIRELINK75on the basis of what? Do you think his age means he can’t stay up to date with the new trends or that he loses his understanding of football? Let’s not be ageist now
There is already a Rene at the club
Not sure Ruud would welcome him?
Top work mate
My biggest problem with Ten Hag was that as soon as our keeper has the ball the fullbacks push up to the halfway line. So whenever we lose the ball in midfield it was so easy for the other team to attack us through the middle or behind the fullbacks.
THIS GUY NEEDS TO JOINS MAN UTD COACHING STAFF.
Rubbish
Most of the players are now Ten Hags signings and if they aren't doing what you want on the pitch then drop them. Ten Hag continued to play out of form players like Rashford and Bruno week in week out. Also his signings have been poor. 90 million for Antony and 110 million spent on Hojlund and Zirkzee for a total of two goals.
Great vid buddy reckon Amorim is coming asap
Great stuff
If every one can see this, how did ETH not see this.
Some coaches are adamant on their philosophy lol
ego on his character and delusion in his philosophy made him blind
He did, but you work with what you have. Injuries plagued the backline for a year straight, still are now. Rashford doesn't play the way ETH is asking, that is clear, and the midfield is too slow. Strikers are young and inexperienced. Recruitment was good, but wasn't enough to get rid of the dead weight
Did you watch the video? A lot of the issues are down to the squad.
Disagree but will soon find out
Not having a left back for 2 years will get anyone sacked, most of his tactical eccentricties stemmed from compensating for playing Dalot or someone else there. Then of course the recruitment was mostly poor, again not ETH's fault MUFC have neglected this area for 20 years.
Apparently you did'nt read the club's statement. Ruud will be interim until they find the most suitable replacement. They have no intention of giving Ruud a permanent role.
Rud deserves a chances
It's versatile and easy to understand for the players.
have been thinking about this for a year by now
That’s what Amorim will be implementing
you need players with intelligence, and more importantly, a willingness to work hard.............United dont have either!!!
COMPOSURE
Plz explain why we had so many injury because due to player not prepared or manager pushed them
Nice work bro
Think Rene was with Socceroos- national team of where I'm from at that point. But yeah knows his stuff
This guy should be a coach
Rene is world class, Moyes made a huge mistake letting him go and its cost us bigly.
Get rene back on the coaching staff. Should never of been let go in the first place imo
David Moyes dismantled the team behind the scenes, since then United have struggled to find that successful chemistry.
Great insights from a great coach?
The problem was always quick passes in transition that led to quick losing the ball
Exacerbated by the full backs always being out of position. So when we lose the ball which is often nowadays we are open at the back.
Top stuff Harrison, talk to your barber , he can do a better job with the fade
Rene Meulensteen should been kept after Ferguson retired.
Blame Moyes
get him back to utd asap What a top guy
Bring Rene back to help the new manager like he did for sir Alex, and Ruud will show the strikers how to score
He does talks sense
Jose was right about Luke Shaw Pogba and Martial
When ten hag decided to play mazarui in 10 position I just knew that this guy doesn't like his job
Not sure if the team that needed this the most is watching this...
2:42 - 😂 Mason Mount the forgotten one
Sounds like they need to bring Rene back if not as an assistant then a consultant working alongside the assistants.
its simple, he gives much space between defense and midfielder for opponent to exploit
I heard 10hag tactics focus on midfield but from what I saw , our midfield always missing , and lost ball
A Dutch man, I nearly thought English was is first language lol. They way pronounced de ligt name I clocked mans NL 😂
All the.defenders should know where the pattern of the back line the team play weather they are a regular or not tho, in the whole team should have a roughy idea of the position in the game if they have been train together. It shows that the way we train isn’t good. Go back to 442 please.
Top class explanation from Rene. How did. Erik ten Hag not see these problems? 😮
ETH is not fool, its players mentality and positioning
I'm sure he did. But the players tend to do what they feel to do on the pitch. Why would ten Hag have spent so much time and effort in training for his players to perform like they've never kicked a ball in their lives?
@@truthseeker683 eth is a fool, if it happened in a game or 2, then can blamed the players. But it happened almost every games that can be predict by every game leaving the midfield exposed and outplayed. Eth stubborn tactics and formation along with his deluded instructions, keep on saying its a progress. Slot able to read it, now rene explained amazingly just showed that first problem down to eth. The further proof were utd lacking of goals and conceding goals especially into his 3rd season with his recruitment of his ex ajax players. From 3rd, 8th and sat on 14th before his sacking, tells a lot.
Did he say Mainoo has the legs and not Ugarte 😂
The man broke down ETH in one video 😢. No wonder we were beaten Weekly
Sure ETH seen it i told them about it but they just couldnt execute it thats why he start to bringing many ex ajax players in but prem and dutch league is differnet level
Bruno is the biggest problem, always leaving his position resulting in huge gaps. Also he is not as good as he thinks he is
You mean Misused ?
Renee SHOULD BE UNITEDS MANAGER
genius
Watch at 7.30 and you ll see what i mean about our wingers not understanding the pressing
Our biggest issue is since we stopped playing with traditional wingers that provide and went with forwards wide players
I don't think traditional wingers are available in the market anymore. It's no longer the 90's even Fergie moved away from traditional wingers.
@vs6300 Saka, madueke are traditional wingers. I can name many more playong for City. Teams that used wide players as forwards play more with a hard working midfield 3
Legends
To be fair, as of now only Pep, Klopp or Ancelotti can comment on other manager. I think.
