This is the actual take that we used on the album! Apologies that there is no foot cam, Sabian ran in and set up these cameras whilst I took 5, and then we kept on with our busy tracking schedule. If we had more time we could have made a better video, but either way, hopefully you guys enjoy seeing exactly what I do during a recording session :)

🤤 seeing you play never gets old. also, are all those bass drum hits singles or do you ever have to do heel toe or swivel like techniques? Also you always sitting so high up from your kick pedals does that cause you to rely on your sartorius muscles more?
Menoetius thank you man! 99% of the time I play all singles in kick, rarely I will use heel toe. You can see me use it in some of my other videos however!

Is it true that you put your body through extreme cold conditions before recording this? Whatever you did clearly seems to work. What's the technique?
Yeah man! Was a few days into tracking and I went a little too hard haha, so we went and did this thing where they freeze you from the neck down for 3 mins. Really helped reset my muscles to keep on at it :)

This song and this fuckin band has thrown my head for a loop over the past year. Haven't thought of them since they released this song in 2008 and I saw them at club relevant or some shit in VA. Now ten years later I hook up with this girl and she's like "do you like metal?" Obvious answer. "Oh do you know I am abomination?" I double take as I've never heard anyone say that band's name apart from the friends I dragged to that show (I think Texas in July or this or the apocalypse was headlining who knows). She's like "my best friend used to date Phil druyor I have an unopened copy of Jaw Dropper from the release party if you want it phil is kind of a whiny douche."
I'm like "lol sure why not"...then, mere months later, here I find one of the best drummers in metal doing what I assume is the remastered version of the single off that same fuckin album. I know it's a coincidence but it's just blowing my mind because I have not heard of or thought of this band since 2009ish.

I know you have a specific form due to back issues, but i think you should take a lesson with Dave Elitch and just see if he can't help take you to the next level. He recently helped his buddy Tomas Haake, and in one lesson was able to change his form to make it more powerful and help him rethink quitting Meshuggah, as he's also had debilitating back issues over the years.
Mitch Zimmerman I do appreciate the concern dude, but me having a back issue is just a rumour man. I’ve never had any back trouble in my life! I just go into some mad drum zone when I play and forget that I’m even in a room hahaha, it’s weird I know - but I’m just totally zoned out and not in any pain ever :)

Still though...I do wonder how much better you could theoretically get if you took a lesson or two with Dave. We may never know, and maybe it's best for humanity that we leave this be.
