- We always wondered what a recording session was like with Chris Turner - and luckily we got to find out. While Chris took a quick breather, we snuck in and managed to set up two cameras before he returned to continue tracking for the upcoming ‘I Am Abomination’ album. This performance is the actual take they kept for the album, enjoy!

@@tategraham4196 drummers are always products of their woodshedded influences. This guy is a product of the Superior drummer age. Probably had a huge come up when djent was invented and created his own style as a result. Not an insult but also not complement. Buddy rich used to rag on people like him but I think this is one instance that, although he may not be able to play the style or feel that buddy has, he stands alone his own island as well and buddy probably could not manage to play what he plays. THIS is what I am happy about. The metal community finding their drummer paragons in places other than speed and creativity-starved complexity.
You ever seen a pro do something incredible and think "wow he made that look so easy", this isn't that.

It's a mixture of posture & the fact his stick grip is like a club with thumbs rolled over so all motion comes from the arms instead of wrists/fingers. Crazy skill & endurance to accomplish what he does!

I’ve seen him play live a few times with OAA and although he’s phenomenally skilled, the nuances of his playing never translate live. Too much noise from the audience, the amps, etc.
Has to keep looking at the cymbal on his left to make sure it's still there after the beat down he gives it

@@asztalosmate7395 I play drum too. And in my point of view if I'm using his set up (especially the cymbal) It is hard to crush it because of the narrowness. Other than that I can't see inneficiency of his set-up placement.

to think i was born at just the right time in just the right era to witness this diety.
Why are there not statues of this man in every drum store in the world? He is, and I MEAN THIS, the greatest drummer to ever live. And to double down, no one will ever surpass him. In 1000 years the world won't produce a more talented drummer. Gonna take some space exploration to match this man.

I’m sorry to say but that title goes to someone like Vinnie Paul or Joey Jordison. This dude is great don’t get me wrong but I don’t think he’s the greatest drummer to ever live. He’s not doing anything that’s changing the game of drumming or anything. I think he is very underrated but he’s not the greatest drummer to ever live.

adrieldrums with the power and speed he is using he has to stay stiff in a lot of the song so he can keep his body steady for control and accuracy. Try playing with your hip flexors and hitting hard to get a certain sound from the kit. It’s difficult.

Absolutely disrespecting those cymbals!!! With the way they're angled and how he comes straight down, he must kill both cymbals and sticks!
I'm very much impressed by this, but I'm also constantly asking myself (literally out loud) why he doesn't just place those two outer cymbals at least at little closer to the front. He's having to strike _behind_ himself to reach them. He sits with his whole body askew and it looks not at all comfortable. But hey, he's getting the job done, so I guess I'm wrong and he's right.
