  • TLDR: I think he’s real, and if you weren’t skeptical too then you don’t understand just how difficult it is to play the drums like this.
I do not care about your opinion but please post it so I can ignore it.

I was recording drums at that very studio (Edge studios in Macclesfield) a few weeks after the 40 roll session and I asked the engineers who worked with Chris when he was there about whether he used samples, they all said he was completely natty! He's just a MACHINE. It also helps that the people working at the studio are incredible at achieving metal drum tones. Also, I used your 'Loudest in the room' track as my drum reference! :D

As a drummer I can relate to this, even in my own household. I have a daughter who is getting into music and when she first started out she asked why my drums don't sound like all the stuff she hears on the radio or on albums. Now, this was a few years ago so she had no idea about producing/mixing, etc etc etc...but take that same example and carry it forward a few years. If you have someone who doesn't have that explained to them they can very easily get into music and think they sound like shit or aren't doing something right if they don't really delve into the specifics behind the "natural" vs "post-production" sound all instruments make.

I love every your cons word about it. Because i'm just getting sick with people reaction *AWESOME, THIS GUY IS SICK, BLA BLA*
    Every pros, need cons.
I really appreciate you giving detail about Velocity, and Shitty Drum Sounds while they slowed down the video speed.
    Great video man!
    Really love it!
You should go to local drum cover and say about faking drumming like the one asian guy covering Infant Annihilator - Soil The Stillborn. I'm getting sick he's not admit that he was fucking fake player
Edit: Chris used to be sampled his drum in early OAA album until *Hikari* released, his drumming pure 100% his own drum sound.

16:01 i once saw someone argue "of course every hit of a gravity blast sounds like a rimshot, the stick is on the rim of the snare."
don't get me wrong, i don't care if you play raw or sample or trigger or literally airdrum to a backing track of programmed drums (if what you're doing best serves the music then it's the correct choice) but c'moooon lol

You nailed it dude, I try and be natural with my playing and videos. I can't tell you how many times I've had engineers, fellow drummers, and other musicians tell me to use drum replacement so it'll hit harder. I respectfully tell them no lol.

Just to add to this. Using triggers doesn't make it fake. It does make the hit louder and that's less effort. U have covered this in the video but some folks think triggers can make anyone good. Thanks for calling out editing drum parts in, that is a disservice to all drummers imo. I'll also add that you Cleary have a great will of knowledge in this department so I possibly skipped passed what you may have already spoke of. Great analysis man. As a drummer I can see you know what you are saying.
