Holy shit, the dude is so good, he can’t even portray sloppy feet.
Although I hate the "lol" thing - I actually did laugh when I read this because I was thinking the same thing when I heard him do that - I thought "that's sloppy?, then I suck ass for sure".
@@charlesrocks The bar in drumming isn't "Travis Smith is the only person who does not have sloppy feet" so, not sure why you're trying to make it sound like he's saying that, unless you're some fan who just wants to get a high five and a "No Way, I wasn't saying that - NO ONE is as good as him, Dude, right? He's so awesome!!!!'.
His timing is purposely off in that clip, rewatch it and listen closely if you have to... But him trying to put down other drummers when he literally is as bad as the people he is portraying. It isn't right. Even when he tries to show off fills, it's literally the same fill for 5 minutes. Fuck this guy.

Domonics Dániel thankfully I don't know any drummers who play like that but it sounds like you just want someone with fast feet. you could look up George Kolias, Mike Portnoy or Zbigniew "Inferno" Promiński

The Tapper actually works pretty well for Black Metal. If it's grindcore or noisecore I want the drummer going nuts on those blasts, but for BM I want it to sorta fade back and be atmospheric.
Speeding up the fills ist something that you can experience always and everywhere.

The main fail I constantly run into is meeting up with a drummer who advertises themselves as 'able to play anything' and claims to be able to play metal yet refuses to learn how to do anything related to metal drumming when called out. Jazz drummers and newbies with high egos are all guilty of this. Please do us all a favor and watch ALL of this dudes videos and for the love of the Metal Gods, LISTEN AND LEARN how to play metal!

I think it's harder to play off tempo than on tempo, if your brain naturally wants to match the rhythm. Shows how talented you are 😆

You skipped one Common Drummer Fail which I see sometimes with "rich show-off" drummers. The I have too much money to spend on a Massive Drum Set with loads of toms, cymbals, and accessories, but I never use anything beyond the left-half of the drumset, the right side is just there for looks.
I had a Pearl Masters MMX and I was poor as fuck back in 2002. Lol.
I find it's the opposite problem for me. 5000 dollar kit with a lot of things to hit and I'm always tempted to use stuff too often just because it's there.
dystopic panopticon I feel ya..when I decided to start playing again, I just went with a 3 piece & a couple/few cymbals.

My kit has two rack toms, a floor tom, a crash, a hi hat, bass, and snare. I don't have an overbearing, under utilized kit problem. I have an "I'm too poor to afford a kit with a ride," problem. Yes. Mother is stingey with instruments. Very.

An old drummer of mine once somehow jammed a stick in between the shell and tuning screw of one of his toms during a fill. That's the only time I've seen that one.

Inconsistent tempo is the struggle I have with my band. guitarist plays sometimes faster or slower and eventually I lose my flow.

I liked the “no drum fills” one. You could catch a groove. Probably a good reason Phil Rudd (AC/DC) used them sparingly.
