I saw a video where his producer said something like "hes the only drummer i know where a compressor destroys his performance rather than brings it out because he hits so hard" and thus i set my goal. Any drummer, especially heavy drummers can learn a lot from him. To be able to play and not need any sample replacement because his hits are so precise, controlled, and powerful. Incredible.
@@GoldNettle too true! Compressing my kick often more than -2-3db ruins the sound of it completely! I appreciate the support man :) keep on at it bro 👊🏻
@@ChrisTurnerDrums i mean what's the point of compression if your kicks already slam real hard? Im not a pro-level mixing guru, but I do get that in this context, the purpose of a compressor is to make a sound hit harder (at least the transient heavy stuff like kicks and snares). Though I do assume that you still compress those kicks at around a dB at least! Anyway, keep up the good stuff! I'm hyped up for that album!

For real man, especially in modern metal drums where there's almost a set formula for how to go along with the guitars and bass. Chris is a master at that, but also knows exactly when and how to flip that on its head to great effect. Asking Chris to stop overplaying is a mortal sin, because the way he does it always adds insane depth to compositions, never removes from it.
Ive tried and tried for weeks and weeks but I still cant find something that slaps harder than this. Chris, you da man!

@@strombopopolous usually an audio clip that producers will put in the beginning or end of a song so the listener knows who produced the song. Very common in rap music
