Thanks for reacting to one of my all time favorite performances. Can you believe it's live? Back in my day, there was no such thing like computers, earbuds, and autotune. To play and sing like that, went beyond human understanding. Queen was hands down the most incredible live band in history. Plus each member wrote at least 1 top 10 hit. No other band can even come close to saying that. I highly recommend any song from the 1981 Montreal Concert, but especially Somebody To Love, Love of My Life, Bo Rhap, and Save Me. The concert was a one off (not part of any kind of tour) 2 night concert, filmed with some new kind of film. The film producers were going to put the best songs together from both nights, and sell it across the world as a kind of "going to a Queen concert", but in the movie theaters. Backstage it was a nightmare. The director thought Freddie choreographed himself and couldn't believe he didn't make the same moves, let alone music, each night. The audience had to be silent so they wouldn't interfere with sound and movie-making mystery. Pissed the band off, but especially Freddie. I think because Freddie was so mad, his attitude was, "I show you idiot director what a Queen show is.". And insane greatness was captured on film for us all. Queen later bought the rights back to the film and put it back together as it always should have been. There is a great commentary by Brian and Roger on RUclips about this concert. This concert also shows the greatness of each member. Queen was always more then the sum of their parts. The were as close to heaven as you can get while still being on earth. Great reaction.
That's interesting and actually good to hear! I like it when artists switch up the performances and don't repeat the same routine over and over. If you're a superfan who attends multiple dates, you'll get to be treated to a unique experience every time. I'll look into that commentary too!
Now you have met and enjoyed White Queen, you might perhaps like to listen to the March of the Black Queen. Both songs are from the same album but are worlds apart, but entirely spellbinding. In a way, I envy you, hearing Queen's music for the first time like we did all those years ago, but we had to wait months for the next incarnation of Queen - no two songs are ever alike but each is magnificent in it's own way.Continue down the Queen rabbit hole, I will be right there with you. Peace
Make sure you listen to the official lyric version of “March Of The Black Queen”. Due to the intricacies of the vocal and instrumental layering, Queen was not able to perform the entire song live. Consider it to be the older sibling of “Bohemian Rhapsody”.
This is my favorite live performance ever, period. The whole band is perfection and the song is magic. Brian hit a home run when he wrote this beautiful song and the instrumental portion is so fantastic that the 1 minute and 45 seconds was not enough for me, I could have listened for 30 minutes and still been thrilled. Thank you for reacting to this. I don't know how come this didn't show up in my notifications when you dropped it.
Thanks for reacting to one of my favorite performances. While Freddie was playing the piano Brian came in with his singing guitar and then Roger's drumming like the heartbeats and John's solid bass lines, all these together made this song so great. A beautiful ballad from Brian. Pls, check out Somebody To Love at Montreal 81, that is another fantastic live production.
@@debramoore7513 Hello darling, I'm ok, I've been a little busy painting and decorating in prep for Christmas, lol. Still had to make time for my favourite man Freddie though.
The musical interlude that plays your soul! It's as if all the instruments were communicating with one another. When I watch Freddie here, I see a modern day Mozart.
You are spot on with the meaning of this song. Brian wrote it while he was in college about a girl he had a crush on but didn’t have the courage to speak to. This song and performance is my number 1 favourite. Thanks for loving it
Awwwww the White Queen walks!! Written by Dr. Brian May about unrequited love in his college Biology class. This song gives me a Tolkien vibe or a medieval, mystical feel … either way it’s hauntingly beautiful. Then the magic begins with Freddie’s piano & Brian’s guitar work. Speechless!! 🧝🏻♀️👑 🌙🌟⭐️💫✨
Haunting is the pefect word for it. The combination of all the live instruments coming together while being led by Freddie's voice made it so evocative.
Great Choice! One of my favourite performances. Surprised you noticed what you did on the first listen, impressive. Yes, that drumming is fantastic, impeccable timing for a live performance, they were a really tight unit.👍
Fantastic reaction, you are very observant, you see to understand more about music then many reactors. Honestly, this is one of my favourite live performances, the ethereal and emotional beauty of this song and performance is hard to match. Queen were an amazing live band, a lot of their live performance are better then the studio versions. I suggest you check out Father To Son - Queen live at the Rainbow 1974, Ogre Battle live at the Hammersmith 1975, Liar live at the Rainbow 1974. You should definitely check out The Millionaire Waltz, there is only a lyric video with the full song, but is a great song and I think you would appreciate it.
One of my fav. Mad piano skills. Didn't want it to end. I hear the early Led Zeppelin influence too the way it drifts you off into the zone. Down the Queen rabbit hole makes life better.
Twice in this song Freddie (what I consider) empties his 'reserves' singing when other singers would never go there (depleting their lungs so completely). (first) ' as it began, ohhh' and (then) 'she cannot see, ohhh' And I ❤❤❤ his piano work. Trance-like for him - spectacular instrument collaboration 'perfection' and he reminds me of Mozart doing a classical performance... only Freddie can essentially bring classical piano quality into a ROCK performance 💋💋💋💋 The venue is The Hammersmith Odeon (OH DEE ON) 😉 and this was friggin' 1975... 46 years ago and the sound and visual quality is pristine (we are SOOOO lucky they captured this back then) I hope you do 'In the Lap of the Gods' (this same Christmas concert and the end of a tour celebration) and watch for the moment at the piano Freddie has a deep desire to BOP his head to the beat and has to move over to the right (his left) as to avoid hitting the mic in order to do so. It's right after 'you say I can never set you free but that's not true' (bom bom) 😍😍😍😍
I love Freddie so much 💗 I love your reaction❤ this is most beautiful balad I know. Freddie sang it beautifully and all instruments are so well blended. Brian wrote it when he was teenager. There will never be another singer like Freddie he was phenomenal and his piano skills are insane.🎹🤘🌹react please to save me from Montreal 1981. It's awesome 🙏🏻💗❤
Have a great time on your Queen journey! Interesting band as everyone was so talented. And there's no putting them into one musical category. Want to hear rock, glam rock, anthem rock, stadium rock, music hall, blues, jazz, novelty, a lullaby, waltz, rock-a-billy, funk, disco, light opera, (prob more that I'm not thinking of) - you'll find at least one Queen song to fit your mood.
This entire televised concert is well worth reviewing. This was a Christmss Eve performance, hence the glass of champagne salutation to the audience and the occasion. Live at the Rainbow, also televised before this, offers The Seven Seas of Rhye, Liar, Stone Cold Crazy, In the Lap of the Gods etc. It is their first televised concert and what put them on the music scenes list of hot new bands
I love your reaction and subscribed for more Queen reactions! 👑👑 During the 1980s Queen did music tracks for two movies, FLASH GORDON and HIGHLANDER. I highly recommend checking out one of the live performances of “Who Wants To Live Forever” that Queen did for the HIGHLANDER movie. The Wembley 1986 live version seems to be the one most reactors have now problems uploading and it is a great performance, although the live performance in Budapest in 1986 is my favored performance. Additionally, check out the official video for “Princes Of The Universe” that was also a track Queen did for HIGHLANDER. 👑👍👑
AceM....That's the best way to go through their immense catalog IMHO, also I would suggest reacting to Bohemian Rhapsody the Official one next. Thank you.
I don't think I ever heard a reactor get what this song was about...but you did!..one of my favorite songs. Watched your other 4 Queen songs..and you say more..okay..Im subbed!
Ace, I really appreciate your in-depth analysis of Queen's music, but I was waiting to see you do this one and I finally found it. This is shockingly good, as you already know. The power, the passion, the technicality, the drama and the execution is completely unmatched by any other band of this time frame or ever, for that matter. No other group could have pulled this off and not only is this Brian's best song he wrote (in my opinion) but the band does it supreme justice on this night. The only thing that would have made this even better, is if they would have panned the cameras around a bit more to showcase the others, since they all did such and incredible job on this song. But, at least this was captured on video so decades later, we can still enjoy arguably the best live song ever performed. Period.

Thanks for subscribing! This performance was exquisite. No glitz or fancy stage effects, and yet still stunning with pure talent on display!
@@AceM-Reacts Totally agree, Ace! 😁

Fantastic pianist -- on top of THAT voice!
WOW! my thoughts exactly!
Welcome to their world. No point suggesting this or that song, You cant go wrong with the any direction You go 😂👍

At some point in the song, Freddie and the rest of the band ascend to the heavens before descending back to the Earth and joining us mere mortals
