  • ⚡️Here is episode 5/12 of my series 'Making the changes'. In this series I guide you through the skill of hitting your chord tones/arpeggios to the chords of jazz standards. In this lesson we look at the pivot. This is a fantastic way to transform your arpeggios.

This is one of my favourites ways to get more from arpeggios. Let me know if you have any questions and please leave a comment below :) Andy

Andy, great instruction. My last message got lost. Please let me know what level of Patreon gives access to Making the Changes (or is it a separate product?) Thanks in advance.

Agree. Perhaps my favourite. Perhaps because it is a series spaced out at healthily long intervals, which allow us to digest the information.

More than a slight challenge. You have set out the steps very clearly with good overlap chasing where we have come from. Overwhelming - er yes! But a good clear path as to where to go and why. As with the last lesson - each bit is simple enough but the whole is a decent mouthful to get my head around. Great thanks.

Agreed. I think I was right to space out each lesson by a month then.

Hi Andy, are you working towards making 12 videos in this series 'Make The Changes' or is it complete already, & where do we find all the video in the series so far please?

Working towards it. I planned out all 12 last year and I've filmed about 9 of them. There's one each month for the rest of 2024.

Hi Andy, at the 2:06 (ish) mark, when you play through that B7 you play a C note there. Is that just to some tension with the b9 or is there some other reason to play that note? (And thanks again for this series, it's giving me so much to work with and it connects so well with all the stuff you've helped me with in our lessons)

Hey Jay, it's just for a bit of tension. It's nice as it's you then get a semitone move down to the 5th of the 1 chord.
