The fact Liam Gallagher speaks highly of him and Ronnie wood said him self at the awards Sam is his favourite is a definite nod of approval, proper band with good written songs about life
This song feels like it was written for all of us who didn’t have it on a plate growing up, who have lived a thousand lives before our life has even begun, thank you Sam ❤️
It awesome to see Sam Fender start blowing up over here in the States. I’ve been jamming to his tracks for a few years now and Ive been doing my best to spread the word. Awesome performance! Keep putting out these killer tracks gents!
He's fire! In Cali, had not heard of him ,did not see this Fallon performance, then saw him on Brits awards 2 days ago perform 17 Going Under and said out loud, "Who the hell is that????".Then he won! Fantastic.
I'm a sixty something old man...and I have seen a lot of brilliant performers and performances in my time and young Fender is absolutely up there with the best of them. Genuinely talented guy, who can write lyrics with the wisdom of a fifty year old, and he's got a fabulous group of guys playing with him. A reason for optimism in a time that needs all the good vibes we can muster.
I'm even older than you and also seen many brilliant artists live in my life, including Hendrix, Joni Mitchell and many others. Sam is up there with them! His music touches my soul.
Love how the accent and dialect shine through in his songs. I’m from the NE myself (Northumberland) so it is lush to hear. He’s awesome! What a talent 👏 👏
I’m American, so I’m not really familiar with too much of regional accents in England. I know Manchester because of Liam, and Noel for example. I am curious, after watching interviews of sam fender, there sounds like there’s a good deal of Scottish in his accent! Is that a thing with the NE?
@@Aidanhatesyouall some of our words can sound similar to Scottish (we will both say “doon” for “down” for example), but Scottish and geordie/Northumbrian accents are very different. I can understand how they may sound similar to someone who is not from around these parts, though.
A lot of love for NE and Northumberland, my mum from Ashington, even though I was born and grew up in Devon still feel the connection! Sam Fender is destined for massive things, as he would say, he's lush
@@andrewhall983 I was born and raised in Ashington! Live just 10 mins up the road from there now. Northumberland is a fantastic place. Beautiful beaches, lovely countryside and not too far from the “Toon”. Totally agree on Sam. He thoroughly deserves all the success in the world.
The first time my 71 year-old ears heard this song on Portland's KINK radio it was like being hit with that proverbial ton of bricks. One of those rare occurrences when you know you've just heard an anthem that you're gonna love for the rest of your life.

“She said the debt, the debt, the debt, so I thought about shifting gear” I’ve only just realised that means he’s thinking about selling drugs to support his mam.
You’re in for a treat my friend…. You’re not the one The dying light The borders Will we talk Spit of you Dead boys Are my favourites but if you download both of his albums and hit shuffle you’re in for a treat. This guy is super talented and deserves all of his success.

I'm 66 years old. Grew up during the " British Invasion". I heard Mr. Fender and this song by chance on Music Choice- adult alternative channel. I would have guessed he was from Ireland or Scotland but 17 going under stirred up something in my Scots- Irish heritage DNA that made this old man want to dance an Irish jig. I am now a big fan and will tell all my friends( the ones of us still living) about Sam Fender and his music!
His 1st album was brilliant however this second album has pushed him to catastrophic new heights. I don’t even think he’s aware of how bloody good he actually is. Such a incredible, honest, talented individual
Another Geordie destined to be a legend... Bobby Robson, Lindisfarne, Gazza, Shearer, Mark Knopfler, Brian Johnston, Brendan Foster, Hank Marvin, Jimmy Nail, Bryan Ferry, and Sam Fender. I'm coming home Newcastle, you can keep ya London wine, All walk the streets all day all neet, for a bottle of the river Tyne... I'm coming home
I love this lad he hits me right in the feels he has the ability to take me back to when times were good and bad, I'm a Teesside Lass transplanted else where because of no jobs 27years ago, and yet this man right here is bringing my youth to life in my head and for me that is pure GOLD. The saxophone is just sublime. He is one hell of a gifted writer. I don't think this year Adele deserved the award she dropped it in November and her return has killed any interest I had in her. Diva Adele can get lost bring back the London lass. SAM IS PHENOMENAL
Honestly, to be on stage singing your heart out with a bunch of lads that are where you're from, singing words about struggle that resonate with people from places like yours all over the world...well that has to be fucking great. Good lad Sam Fender, you're doing your people proud
The fact he actually sounds decent at The Brits shows he can sound great anywhere!! Ever noticed no one sounds good there? Front of house must be asleep during performances.
This kids a very talented song writer…the real deal & great to see a working class lad reach the top. Finally someone actually saying something in their songs.
I'm glad Sam and his band have the opportunity to open for Bruce Springsteen in Italy this spring. They have similar soulfulness in their music and it will help more people learn about Sam's phenomenal talent!
He’s genuinely one of the best songwriters the UK has produced in a very long time. Springsteen allusions are obvious, but he’s his own man doing his own spellbinding things. Very raw and chilling lyrics with the background of this musical euphoria. A song for a generation.
It's time Sam makes his way to the US. He's been unable to travel to the country due to the pandemic, but now is time for him to get over here. His music is dynamic & has an energy currently unmatched. Let's go Sam!
True thoughtful music still exists and is recognised. For those of us who didn't grow up rich and had only a single parent to look after us, and who struggled to do so. This hits home. God bless anybody in that situation now. Your relentlessness will never be in vain.
About time the world woke to the greatness that is Sam Fender!!!! This young guy is ahead lyrically, interpretation of his emotions through song and the melodies!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 cannot wait to see him live! His music is both raw yet intentional and thought through ❤️🙏🏾
