Hi, I have another issue but I think it's still related with your video. I'm Indonesian,so for your info we here no need the heater as well.😅 and my problem is the coolant was drop into the cabin and I suspect it came from heater (leaking)
so i just want to bypass the line, but I don't know which line need to close.(same with your car models)
Btw thks for sharing yr great vid.

Hi, coolant in the foot well is damaged matrix for sure. Your right, bypassing heater matrix is definitely easier than replacing. On that engine a thermostat housing has multiple outlets. Two back outlets will have hoses run towards firewall and heater matrix spigots. Hoses are about 30-35mm in diameter. This is how I would do bypass of the matrix. There are two options for bypass. One is to remove the houses from thermostat housing and plug/cap the outlets. The other one will be to remove the hoses from matrix spigot and connect them together with short piece of pipe. When refilling system with coolant you'll have to slacken off one of the hose clips from new connecting pipe to let the air out from the system. I hope it makes sense
      All the best 👍🙂

Thanks for this video. What could it be on a similar car if it idles, but stalls when gear shifted from park to other gear e.g. drive (its an automatic). some suggest could be low gearbox oil?

Not quite sure, I would plug diagnostic tool and do a bit search that way

Hi, great video, my wife got a 207cc 1.6 120 hp with automatic gearbox. At a red light when the car stands still, have a coolant smell in the cabin, can it be the same problem?
And which is the correct coolant for this car, any specs or just any pink coolant?
    Thanks

Hi, yes it could be drip on hose joint or thermostat housing or around water/coolant pump. It sounds that coolant is dripping on hot engine, evaporating and can be felt through cab air intake. Since cab air intake and water pump are on same side (drivers side in UK) I would inspect that first.
And yes, as far as I know any red/pink coolant is good for it as long as it is already in the system. You can't mix red and blue coolant. If someone used blue coolant in past it would have to be discharged and flushed thoroughly before refilling with red
      I hope it helps 👍🙂

@@mrfxr1695 until now I could check the thermostat side, and it's liquid under the housing, so I guess that gonna be the problem. But as I saw the videos and comments about the changing, maybe it's better to leave it for a service/garage to fix it

@@GaborDuzmath hi, thermostat housing has dozen connections, any of them could cause the leak. If you don't feel confident enough to do it yourself I would suggest taking car to the mechanic because you have to find exact point where it leads first. It might be an end of hose pipe split or gasket or housing.
      All the best 👍

not sure if u mentioned it but how much coolant did u use?

In not sure either 😉 but if you get a gallon (5 liters) should be enough, you can always top it up with water

Not strictly the object of the video but I started off with the hose then realised the heater matrix was leaking between the metal and plastic, I found a replacement at a local wreckers including some reasonable looking o rings.
I've swapped them out but the cooleant pipe is leaking at the connection with the matrix. I've tried putting the o rings in the matrix and then pushing the pipe onto it and putting them on the coolant pipe and pushing into the matrix but both ways still leak.
I did notice that the connection was much tighter when I removed the pipe originally (had to prize it apart with a screwdriver. Small gap when I try to put it back together. Have tried using multigrips to squash it together. Also tried tightening the screw that joins them together. Bad idea as it rounded and I spent hours trying to cut it off.
Any idea what i'm doing wrong. Should I just buy some new o rings (Peugeot will only supply them with a new pipe) or use liquid gasket? I'm stuck and my daughter is getting increasingly impatient for me to fix it.

      Hi Luke
New hose and o rings should sort it or can you get hose directly onto matrix spigot and use hose clamp (jubilee) to tighten.

I’ll have another look with that in mind. Think the plastic pipe is going to be hard to find but perhaps the jubilee clip will work. Thanks for the suggestions.
