If ANY Corvette owner is traveling through Lexington, Ky you can come stay at my home and put your Corvette in my garage! We need to start a network of Corvette folks like "Couchsurfing" used to be, but only for Corvette owners! Then maybe we can keep our cars safe!
I get my C8 in December From Cincinnati , I’m ready to meet other Vette owners
@@Thai_sticc_Squeek. I Agree.. Safety in Numbers...
There's a need for a robust vetting process. Some Joe Blow with a stolen Vette could be sleeping in your couch, then when you all sound asleep or drugged, he takes your keys and drives off with 2 Vettes.
IMO, Vettes are stolen for the parts market. We are all to blame if we buy a used part and not knowing where this part comes from. If we all buy from GM or legimate OEM parts, the used car parts wouldn't be profitable; it's unlikely as the discount is very appealing, like why pay for $500 OEM when you can get something slightly used or off a brand new car for $100.
The Club just gets the steering wheel hacksawed and the Club slid off.
These days they use a cordless cutting wheel. Would take less than a minute. They would cut the club instead of the steering wheel.
@@thatguy3468 fair. Sure. Just really noisy.
How many people carry a cordless cutting tool unless they have already checked out the car?
@@Cando79thieves do. They have a criminal mind. They also grab catalytic converters on their night time jaunts.
@@Cando79 a hacksaw through the steering wheel takes no more than a handful of seconds. I've seen it done. Then, remove the club.
The problem is Memphis not the Corvette. Too many young scholars out at night.
You all want to end this shit? Get TF rid this bullshit Admin and vote someone who is willing to push for real laws like a 10 year mandatory sentence for any and all car thefts. That will stop 70% of this shit over night!!!!
Awesome comment!!
Truth!!
We have a friend that had their BMW stolen out of their drive, thieves aimed their reader at the front door & because the key was on the entry foyer shelf they were able to get the code & drive the car away. We have a Mercedes AMG and we now keep our keys in a metal pot with a lid....they can't use the code reader through the metal so we sleep much better now. Hoping to join the Corvette world soon. My Dad was a Chevy dealer so Corvette is in my DNA.
my last car was a C43 AMG. I added a switch after the fuel pump relay in the trunk.(ran the wire all the way to the front and hid the switch in the center console) Of course, that only worked when I remembered to flip the switch after shutting off the engine) :)
I've got over 145,000 miles on my 2016 C7 M7 Z51. I absolutely LOVE it!
I was up in Bowling Green with my wife during the NCM 30th, but only for 1 day to meet up with 3 of our old neighbor friends in town with their C5s. A couple of them were over 200k miles and 1 was approaching 300k!
That’s incredible should send me an email would like to do a story on that
Rickconti@coughlincars.com
I reckon you all spoke a lot today about my current situation. I am that 44 year old guy dreaming of a C8 ERay because I live in a cold climate and want to drive it. However, I am in the boat of waiting a bit longer to order so I can pay off a couple of things. One day, you will get my call when the dream is over, and I can pull the trigger. Until then, I watch your videos and drive my C3.
There are some E-rays out there.. some at MSRP.. After 3+ years on a list I got to put in an order yesterday. Let hope I can keep it for a year before I wrap it around something.
@joem7755 , you will take care if it. If you need to go to that school Rick has been talking about a lot lately. We all know how to drive just fine, however tips, tricks and skills can always be improved upon.
In my 64 Vette Coupe we installed a kill switch under the carpet on the ground side of the coil.
Poor Mans anti theft device!
The moral of the story is don't stop in Memphis overnight if you own a Corvette.
If you're going to use "The Club" as a "Anti Theft" device MAKE SURE you put the longest part in between the A pillar and the windshield! You CANNOT turn the wheel at all when put in this position! Just a heads up but then again if they want it bad enough they might get it! Bad people suck and let's carry on with the enthusiasm and hope for the best!
I have an anti-signal pouch I keep my car fob in. They are $20 for 2 on Amazon. The thieves can’t pickup the signal from the fob as it’s blocked and in the safe. These seem to work.
Your Referring to a “RFID.”
A.K.A., Radio Frequency Identification blocker.
@@jonathaneissler1463 that is correct thank you. It works. The car will not unlock or do anything with the fob in the pouch. I also moved my key area as far away from the car as I could.
But like he said they steal the signal when you unlock the car. @thereissomecoolstuff
@@thereissomecoolstuff these are good I also have a few but they can break the window and access the obd and if they do that it’s over. Best to get something that will shut the engine off and can’t start
@@dd9354 I keep it in the pouch when I’m not driving the car. They can’t get the signal if it’s in the pouch.
In August I purchased an ERay with museum delivery. Had it about 10 days before it was stolen. Thanks to OnStar it was recovered but the thieves had trashed it. Sad how common this has become.
Finally got to see those beautiful chrome wheels
When my car moves without my permission, Mr. Shotgun comes out. In Texas I leave my pet Rattlesnake in my car at night.
In a pinch, you can wrap your key fob in Aluminum foil. It works! Try it!
Couple of cars have been stolen from my local dealer. I keep all my Fobs in a Faraday box. Not foolproof but they are not able to get a RF signal to be able to steal the code. Also, just installed the Soler throttle controller. The controller has a safety device that if they do get in, they can press on the accelerator and nothing will happen. A cheap way ($230) to put in a kill switch.
ruclips.net/video/dNYIgoah4dk/видео.html
I had my 94 corvette stolen from a show in Knoxville .I had the useless club as the steering wheel is not hardened they cut it instead of the club
I installed the solder and LOVE it
As a retired officer, the Club is not a deterrent. The thief will just cut the steering wheel and pull the club off. It only takes a few seconds. No need to drill out the lock on the club as they takes more time. I have found MANY locked clubs left on the street where the car was stolen from.
Ok if you are starting with a 100k + car, first throw away your stock steering wheel and install a titanium steering wheel or a tungsten carbide steering wheel that will not cut easily and by the time they realize they can’t cut the steering wheel, off they go and the car stays put.
Well, dang!
@@ChadNelson-v7v AND...where does such wheel exist?
Rick, there are also some heavy rods which go between your steering wheel and the brake pedal. Also I have a coated cable that goes through the steering wheel and inserts into the seat belt receiver. I also put my key fob in an Aluminum fob box when I go to car events to help prevent criminals from stealing your code there. Also thieves can get your license plate number and find out where you live.
These “unsafe” cities are growing every day. Hmmmm, I wonder why?
“We did it, Joe”
It's so sad that what we can do to protect is very limited but what they can do seems unlimited. Keep up the great work!
RAVELCO, IGLA AND COMPUSTAR WILL STOP THE THIEVES!!!
It's disgusting what these thugs are doing.
Nothing beats a hardwired fuel pump kill switch. Stealing it with one would require towing the car.
up next, stolen tow trucks stealing corvette....
There’s a dealership in Joliet Illinois that just had 3 C7s stolen from their lot…SMH
Pull fuel pump fuse
Good warning Rick. I purchased The Club based on your show a couple of years ago. I have seen the Soler device info and it is supposed to help against theft, but once again, I think Father Chuck is right. If the criminals can trick the car they can probably figure out the new device. I think the Soler is supposed to override the computer throttle restrictions. Probably not something you want on the car until after the warranty expires. Thanks for the great info Rick and Chuck!
Keeping your key(s) in a faraday pouch doesn’t permit the key to be constantly active. The signal from the key is trapped in the foil lined pouch.
Also there. Is a company in Michigan that makes a dual kill switch for Dodge Chargers and Challengers. Easy to install.
Does anyone make one for these corvettes?
Soler sells a throttle controller that allows for a total shut-off of the throttle input. I have a gps tracker that notifies me that the car is moving and can be tracked and shared with PD in real time.
Great info. Makes you think about where to place your car at any event or hotel. Thieves are the worst form of life !!
3rd party alarm like Compustar will do far better than the factory one. Eliminates the obd2 programming, which is what they are using.
Mr. Conti and Chuck Corvette's getting stolen is pretty crazy!! The old fashioned club will probably slow it down. Great Tech Tuesdays vlog!! Good vlog guy's!!👍🏽
Another great video. I had my C7 stolen from my home. They found it 2 days later with just a broken passenger side window. (BTW it took over a month to get a window from Chevy, on back order.)They used a frequency device to start the car. I have the pouch that blocks the signal and I have really really really thick cables on the front tires and I keep my other car parked behind it. I'm getting the Viper theft system installed. Sad what we do because of lazy people.
Just have a hard wire switch on the starter solenoid 12volt wire. The switch is located in a hidden location inside the car. The switch with disable the started. No electronics is involved.
Wow rims look amazing. 🎉🍹🌴
Thanks for that
@@RickCorvetteConti ruclips.net/video/dNYIgoah4dk/видео.html
Had a car stolen with a club they used bolt cutters to cut the steering wheel
The club is no longer sold because it doesn’t work. Your steering wheel is just a 3/8” dia wire that can be cut with a bolt cutter. Buy a kill switch.
How about removing the fuel pump fuse?
@@u2fan29 thought about that will need to investigate
I got worried when we we staying at the hotel in BG for the National caravan when an empty car carrier pulled into the parking lot for the night!
Sad times we're in. Thanks for the updates, guys. Chuck, take care, sir.
Use aluminum foil to cover key fob. Cheap trick or buy faraday bag. On my C5 if it stays outside I remove the fuel pump relay.
I wouldn't take anything to Memphis. I hear the news there all the time. That would be an event I definitely would miss. No way
So Rick, maybe for those who are technically challenged, you could do a video on “RFID.” And explain the process of how the car communication .
Fantastic video. It sure gives us enthusiast something to think about while enjoying Corvette gatherings abroad.
Lots of other caravan vettes were hit in Memphis. Not a safe town.
Welcome back Chuck.
Hey there. Just found your channel. Do you happen to know who Jim Jeffords is ? My late friend Lionel “ Lindy “ Lindhiemer got him setup with the owners of Nickey Chevrolet to race in B Production back In the late 50s. His stories always gave me chills, and smiles.
Great info here with the thefts. Unfortunately it’s all over in the new vehicles.
Who???
get a pet snake and put it on the driver's seat at night.
If they went ahead and continued the constant circuit from the dash to the console box to the glove box and then to the ignition switch - heck - a C8 thief only has about a 50-50 chance it all works anyway. 😂😂😂😂
Get an Israeli made Pager and place in under the Driver seat.
My Brother built a factory five Cobra…when he parks the car he takes the steering wheel with him…so far nobody has stolen it…😎
Rick I purchased the GoDark Case it's not cheap but it definitely does block the RF signal. Now my understanding if you press and hold the lock and unlock buttons at the same time next to your vehicle your flashers should flash 4 times and that should disable the keyless function to open your doors.
Several Corvettes have been stolen within the last few months from Chicago area car dealerships. I didn’t know about the blue Z06, including that one seven.
All this talk about the Club steering wheel lock and no mention of the Autolock brake/clutch pedal lock?
Add motion sensor and kill switch, I own a C8
heres an idea to ALL corporations...STOP making every damn thing digital!! Next they're gonna be reprogramming our bank and credit cards from our driveways.
Drone Mobile is my favorite for defeating thieves. Remote starter kill using a smartphone app & GPS tracking features are excellent. I'm a user, not a company representative.
Layers of security! I wonder if there is an easily accessible major fuse or relay that can be removed to keep a car from being driven. I use a Club, an "Unbrakeable" brake pedal lock, and I pull the fuel pump relay on my older Mustang. They would have to tow it away.
2 Things keep your key in a faraday bag and put an IGLA Can lock system
700 miles on a one year old Z06? Read Rick's hat.
Battery disconnect is easy to install and use.
7:06 Rick, the Club won't work. All they have to do is cut the steering wheel with a cordless saw-zaw and slide that thing right off. Might slow them down5-10 seconds but that's about it.
What do you think of the Ravelco anti-theft security device?Unplug the 16 pin male plug when exiting vehicle in an unsecured situation.
physical hidden kill switch
That's what I said. How could some one start my c6 with out the fob.
ruclips.net/video/dNYIgoah4dk/видео.html
My anti theft device is my 6 speed manual.
ruclips.net/video/dNYIgoah4dk/видео.html
FYI On star will not help they sell it they wouldn't even tell the cops where the truck was air tag works better
I was in memphis when some of the cars was stolen...
Nice to see Chuck! Love that freakin yellow Z06 and those awesome shots by Rob at Paragon 🔥🔥🔥
Actually the zora is now been spotted at the ring doing several laps but still in camo , so is probably 1 to 2 years away
The Club is worthless. Battery powered saw will slot the steering wheel enough to remove it in about 15 seconds.
Chuck will be working on my C7 on 9/25! Coming in for the C7 "shudder."
I made a start signal bypass via a toggle switch on my C8. When the switch is turned on, there is no starter action. It will take them a while to find the hidden switch. There is no sense to me to kill the battery as it would disarm the other theft deterrent systems on the car.
those wheels are stanking on that car Rick ooooweeee!!!!
We also use a club (that is 30-years old)!!!
I have been using a Hyperion RFID blocker. When the car is not being driven, the car is locked armed, and the key is in the case. Dont know if I'm safer, but at least im being inconvenient.
Antigravity makes a battery that if it goes dead, you push a button on a separate key fob and It starts the car. They need to offer the same battery, but with an option to push the button on your key fob to disable the battery. that way if they can’t start it, they can’t steal it.
Alright I'll get a matching one like you :)
You have to hide the vin as well in memphis...also Rick Its is a problem that has come up with the modules disconnecting from the car and that makes the car check engine light come on. the car still drives the same but I really dont like the engine light on in my Freaking C8 Zo6... I heard its a software issue per a few others corvette platforms, Just want to know when GM going to have the updates... Hurry up and wait huh?
You should have sponsor paid signs around you like the challenger lifts, just trying to get you paid for all your hard work
My Moto is “ IF I CAN SEE IT! WATCH IT !!!! I DON’T DRIVE IT !!!! “
If I can’t see it watch it !!! I don’t drive it !!!
get the right aftermarket security system with a shut off.
Usual suspects!🤢
Rick it is good that you can take a joke
Yea sir thanks

Hi Rick & Great Chuck GOD SPEED FEEL BETTER, Kudos. Kudos, Kudos, today's" taking safety on "STEALING CORVETTES" U.S.A. SAD WORLD TODAY, you both done good being In NJ their were near me 5 Stolen Corvettes this year 2024 alone unreal. i say your doing great with news updates on safety awareness on this issue. Keep doing what your doing "Corvette RICK CONTI SIR &" FATHER PRIEST CHUCK" SOON HALLOWEEN OK THEN SOME//\\
Rick. I have a car tracker.
Thief gonna cut steering wheel not the metal device.
The club is useless takes under a minute to defeat , a bt battery switch or gas switch is a much better option , the Bluetooth terminal defeats the ability to use a key transponder device , i highly recommend you keep your keys in a rfid blocking box , they also make a device that prevents the car from being placed into drive
You used to be able to stop people from stealing your corvette easily. It's called a manual transmission.
lol…true
Rick Corvette men have a hot girl in the front seat not a bear.
LMAO
the stuffed bear allows him to use the HOV lane.
now days, they may not be "girls"....
Don’t waste your time on that club too easy to defeat remove the pin from the brake pedal raise the brake pedal forward club falls on the floor, and the thief usually leaves the club in the parking spot FYI
Good evening to all! 💙🧜♀️
Does that Soler didn’t violate the warranty?
Not sure trying to find out
Can't they make an ignition that gets disabled when the fob is not within a few feet? Also a good alarm and the wheel jack shpuld be enough to send the thieves elsewhere. Akso isn't here an alarm that alerts on your phone if your car alarm goes off?
Can't service install a kill switch some how?
What about installing a kill switch hidden in the car? I've seen them used on another RUclips video. Does it affect the factory warranty?
The Club is useless. They cut the steering wheel and remove it.
It's 2024 and we are talking about The Club?
Wouldn't it be nice if we could leave a rattle snake in there. We can. The problem is getting it out. Just my mind fantasizing again.
