Thank you for finding good wiring solutions. I was thinking of making my own, but it's much easier and potentially more secure going with a more advanced off the shelf solution.
I bought a Faraday box and keep my fobs for both my 99 C5 Hardtop and my Lexus ES300 in it. The box prevents the fob signals from being retrieved/transmitted.
Do you take the car to a mechanic/dealership at some point to see if there's any damage to the engine/transmission/suspension? Might be a dumb question but I would be worried they could have done something that doesn't show up until later and you're on the hook for it.
Great question, yes my car will go to a shop for material damage and then to a Chevrolet Dealership for Diagnostics. My car went from a theft claim to a theft/recovery with vandalism claim. I was busy last week so I will take it to my body shop to start the claim process and then take it to the dealership. My GPS was messed up and they probably need to reset the ECU. My car had 14 miles on it (that I can remember) from when it was stolen, to when it was recovered.
Absolutely, thank you for watching the video. I think it wouldn’t be a bad idea to install the stuff I mentioned. I think most of this technology is universal. Do you have iOS or Android? I can recommend other products if you don’t have an apple phone.
Very informative. A lot of people in Dallas are starting to catch on to how easy it is to steal GM vehicles. My friend just had his ZL1 stolen in Dallas and my Corvette was nearly stolen as well.
@@kobyspurgin They just broke my window and looked through the car, but decided not to take mine for whatever reason. I kind of wish they did so I’d have an excuse to get a Z06 like my friend did 😂
Had my 2014 Z51 stolen July last year as well in Dallas. Police recovered it 2 weeks later somewhere in Arlington with a broken driver window, replaced windshield, and the VIN was changed to a 2015 model in the same color ! Just got it back after spending 10 months in the body shop getting repaired. Had to have the red Texas reassigned VIN badge stamped on the door sill, so now everyone can see it was former stolen. Now I'm a bit more paranoid. I put in airtags, make sure to keep my key fobs in a faraday/RFID blocker bag, and install a clutch pedal to wheel lock on the car whenever I park it. That way they won't even be able to start the car because the clutch pedal can't be pushed. And for good measure I turn on valet mode, as I keep the airtags in the locked compartments.
I had my 2014 z51 stolen at the beginning of this year in Vegas. Same thing, they broke the drivers window and used a device to start the car and pulled a bunch of relays to disengage the E-brake and the lojack. Then drove away. I recovered 4 hours later, the police said the lojack was still going off. Audio Express told me they have a redundancy for the lojack. I'm thankful for that. I'm back on the road with several anti-theft devices going now.
@Koby Spurgin , Someone, help me understand. A friend, and elderly gentleman recently had his C7 Grand Sport attempted to be stolen from his driveway. He was awakened by a neighbor who came home late and found the C7 in the middle of the street, driver's window shattered, lights on, no alarms, and car in Park, not running. No idea how car got into the street, and owner was unable to get car to recognize his fob, and couldn't start it, or even get it to recognize the key and allow him to put car into neutral and be pushed back into his driveway! Car has now been at the dealer for 2 months with dealer saying they can't figure out how to overcome the car's factory "Theft Deterrent Lockout" system. Car is basically "bricked". What the heck took place in his driveway?? What stopped the theft from being completed?? Why did they give up .. and what kind of damage did they do to the car?? ☹
Oh btw I’m happy that you were able to recover your vehicle soon! I heard the muscle cars are at the top of the list on North Texas but I still believe that this is inside jobs that have the accessibility and knowledge of the getting a hold of the equipment ☹️
Unfortunately, the equipment can be ordered on Amazon for about 500 bucks. I live in DFW also, and the car theft is insane! Dudes would sell the stolen cars on Instagram for a couple grand!
Some unplug the fuel pump relay if parked outside. Stated value insurance requires parking in a garage overnight or another approved secure location along with driving restrictions.
Great video. I wish I had seen it before. My car (2016 C7 Z06 daytona sunrise orange) was stolen on January 13th in Dallas North (Greenville Ave) and no news yet. How long after the theft was your car found ?
Fabrice I am so sorry your car was stolen. That is a gorgeous color. My car was located 18 hours later. I was on the phone with insurance making a claim and I got 6-7 calls from Dallas PD saying they found it. It was parked 3.5 miles away from where it was stolen.
Wow that was fast. I am glad it worked out for you. After 10 days for me, I am not keeping my hopes up. Just wondering where my baby (or parts of it) may be at this moment @@kobyspurgin
Thanks. I'm confused by the recommendation at 5:35. What are you referring to re: changing bolt pattern? What bolts and where? How would using bolts instead of a the screwdriver help. From a fellow C7 owner, THANKS!
I said the wrong word, but yes instead of a Phillips or flat head screw you could use a t-25, hexagonal screw or an Allen wrench screw. Something to make it more difficult for them to get off super quick
Great question - maybe too tedious or they started being able to get around it.. tow truck doesn’t help that when they can just pick it up and drive it off. Bolt cutters too. These guys come prepared
Yup, just happened to me. At midnight Onstar alerted me there was a door entry to my Vette. Woke up at 7 AM, car was gone, glass on the ground. Check to see if I can track her, nope. I call the police, and we look at the building security cameras. Saw the whole thing go down. Was absolutely sickening. I guess thieves can drive a 7 speed manual.
Fuel cutoff switch. Just turn it when you go inside. They might be able to get in it but they won’t make it far. Found my civic at the end of the street maybe 200ft away a few years ago because I had the switch and hid it.
@@kobyspurgin only reason why I did it is because insurance wouldn’t give me any value on the car even with the swap and parts on it to so keep my money mine the guy told me about it. Have one on all the cars now

@@travisdurham29you’re right! I think it’s a good chance that they won’t know how if they were born after the late 90s. However they might screw up your car if they are left alone with it long enough!

@@travisdurham29 that’s so funny and true! Some people don’t even care about “the drive” they just want to step on it; feel a sense of speed and then they got their fix
I've always joked about putting your pet snake in the car as a theft deterrent. They can go quite a while without eating. But they don't like being disturbed. I also wondered about having the car up on jack stands.
I keep a Range Device in my OBD port, but I relocated the port with the range inside the dash, to keep from kncking it loose with my knee. This also keeps it away from programmer thieves.
7:48 dood, I have a programmer in my OBD2 port in order to disable the DOD on my C7 to keep it in V8 mode 100% of the time so my LT1 won’t eat a lifter brah 🤷♂️
OnStar should come on your car from the factory, but yes you can have both - I recommend that since thieves just rip out the OnStar module or pull your OnStar fuse.
The 2 beat ones are the last 2 you said, low jack & having the system to just grab your phone, go to the app & shut your car down & there’s nothing they can do & then mixed with low jack, call the cops say my car was stolen, I have low jack & so & so app & I shut my car down, my car is at so & so. I want a cop to meet me there to get it back. If they are even able to steel it from the beginning after adding anti theft stuff
Had attempted theft last night. They some how got up in wheel well and removed wires to horn?? Broke the glass and luckily casino security was coming at them and they sped off in their car. So alarms dont help if they dont make a sound.
My C7 Corvette is parked inside a garage not attached to the house it is locked the fob is kept it a safe not near the car it never has set outside over night
Good for you Phillip! I am glad you keep everything safe! Some of those relay theft tools have some serious range, but it sounds like your key won’t emit that signal outside of your safe! Thanks for watching!
Appreciate the tips! Just ordered some security screws and a RFID box for my fob and garage door opener! Nice C7Z by the way! Lofe the white with red leather. I have a red C7Z.
I didnt watch the whole video but after about 2 mins id just say a hidden/sneaky fuel pump shut off or ignition kill switch and a gps locator that has its own standby battery wired hardwired and hidden somewhere would take care of most attempts. If you really wanted to get into it you could go under the hood and dissconect part of the wiring harness when you leave it out in public.
you can stop relay theft by simply having everyone put their keys into a faraday box, they are cheap and they block the signal from going outside the box, plus many now look nice and is a way of keeping fobs all together anyway.
@@kobyspurgin Amazon has small key fob faraday pouches, two for $10. I bought a couple and tested it by putting the key fob into it and holding it right next to the door. It was not recognized even that close, so thieves would not find it from outside my house.
Thank you James for watching - I’m not saying that the alarm doesn’t go off at all, but they get in and shut all that off from their scanner/tuner. My horn, alarm and locks don’t make noise. Taking it to the shop to be diagnosed and returned to factory.

They are stealing all of the corvettes. Just probably harder to remove the mid engine than the front. If it’s a nice car, automatic and keyless entry it’s too easy. The punishment is a slap on the wrist these days.
The signal grab is not the main way the keyless entry cars are being stolen! Do some research! They are hacking the canbus with inexpensive equipment. Dont rely in a faraday pouch or aluminum foil.
@@kobyspurgin Thanks man. Yeah thankfully there was an officer nearby and I filed a report immediately. It happened while out to dinner near SMU. Pretty sure it was from the remote signal. Did the police end up finding yours and contacting you?

Very informative. A lot of people in Dallas are starting to catch on to how easy it is to steal GM vehicles. My friend just had his ZL1 stolen in Dallas and my Corvette was nearly stolen as well.
No way!!! What happened?! Did you stop them?

Gorgeous vehicle! And good information to avoid theft too!!
Thank you!! I appreciate that!
Not sure - it sounds like all of the electronics were screwed. My alarm and onstar wires were cut!
Ignition cut off is always another layer of protecting.😊

you can stop relay theft by simply having everyone put their keys into a faraday box, they are cheap and they block the signal from going outside the box, plus many now look nice and is a way of keeping fobs all together anyway.
