    Even though I'm not and likely never will be a buyer for this car, it's definitely a beautiful one.
    I'm perfectly happy with my 3rd week of December 1969 built Malibu. I bought it for $450 as a work beater in 1989 and have restored/upgraded it over the last 30+ years. It was originally Tuxedo Black with a Saddle, bench seat interior and powered by a 307/TH-350...it also had non-power, 4 wheel drum brakes! It's been repainted in Tuxedo Black and now has a black, bucket seat/console interior, and, since it's been a Northwest Ohio car since new, a lot of replacement sheet metal. It also now has a hot 406 small block/TH-350 and 9" Ford rear. I did install a N.O.S. "Power Dome" hood but NO SS emblems. Yes, I've also upgraded to power, 4 wheel disc brakes. I've never tried to pass it off as an original SS because it's not! As I said earlier, I'm perfectly happy with it because it's mine lol!

    I currently own a 1970 Chevelle. Forest Green w/white stripes L34 4spd black bench seat interior. Bought it in 1998 I'm the 4th caretaker. The Forest Green color caught my eye. Although I really fancy Cranberry Red or any other color that is it ,it's not Cranberry Red witch is the most popular choice and for good reason. I wasn't changing the orginal color to fit in.

    Look at the size of that AC compressor, it looks like it would need a big block engine to drive it. I loved this car interior, especially the horse shoe transmission selector, buckets, center console and of course the AC, that being a Texas car you would need that AC. I would take that LS5 engine to a good engine shop and have it torn down and acid dipped, totally rebuild it and put it back in, with a few modifications upping the hp on it.

      @1967davethewave Год назад +1

      The good old Harrison A6 compressor is still, in my opinion, the best A/C compressor ever made. Originally used on GM cars as early as the 1950's, it was used on every GM model in the 1960's and 1970's from muscle cars to pick up trucks and of course Cadillacs and other luxury models. It was used up into the very early 1980's on larger vehicles like motor homes. Lincoln and Imperial used it on some models as wells on lesser Ford and Chrysler models on certain years. It has 6 pistons as opposed to 2 on most of the V and inline style compressors that were also common. As a result it is very efficient at lower rpms and that translates to better cooling in slow driving like bumper to bumper traffic. Unfortunately, as you so accurately pointed out, the shear enormous size means it is very heavy and that just didn't work well in the downsizing from the 1980's on up!!!

    Nice car! Reasonable listing price in today's current market. Being the biggest question in everyone's mind,,,,, if I was selling the same deal with my Chevelle, I would certainly have a reputable machine shop do an in depth inspection on that block to identify conditions or flaws. Not much of a big deal to spend a few bucks to prove it's a good block and not an anchor or mailbox post holder, but that's just me. Hope it's in good shape though.

    PGN, I would posit the theory that the car is "partial numbers matching" and not numbers matching. You content that the engine block ONLY makes a car technically numbers matching. I agree that the block is the primary item that makes a car numbers matching. However, I would contend that the transmission is also required. Given that the VIN is stamped on the transmission as well. And even a date code correct code axle is also required. Maybe that is the difference between the Chevy guys and the rest of the numbers matching community. The GM brands, Ford and Mopar experts will also have some issue with PGN's opinon.

    • @Flussig1

    Hopefully it doesn't go up north and end up rotted out

      I would imagine that anyone up north (like myself) who pays 80 grand for a car, would be smart enough to keep it in a very nice garage. And it definitely wouldn't be driven in the snow or salt. jmo

    I trust Patrick as being honest and a wealth if knowledge on these cars, but if I was in the market for an $80k SS, I wouldn't touch this car with a ten foot pole. Far too many things to knit pick about it. #1 would be the flashy paint. #2 would be I disagree with numbers matching stance. To me, this means motor, trans, rear axle, and body shell hasn't been changed out... UNLESS ... you have all those parts sitting inside a garage to sell with the car. Next thing, I would rustle up the original radiator, brake booster, master cylinder. Everything else wrong with this car, I would let slide. 😂 I cant imagine what type of man would buy a triple green car.

    I can’t keep track of the list of non-originals on this car. So it’s not original.
