I've spent some time around that car. And, thats two different events just so people are clear: the Greenwich Concours and Americana Manhasset. I've been to both, and there are always some special cars.
My favorite car of all time. I helped push 0846 up onto the trailer after the race at Sebring in 1966. I was 13. The transmission only lasted about 8 hours of the 12. But it came back to win the Daytona 24 hour the next year.
That's an awesome memory. Daytona will always have a special place in my heart as I went to Embry Riddle right next door for a little while. I do anticipate going to Sebring at some point in the near future.
This car is not a real Ferrari. It is actually a proven fake with a fake chassis and a 3 litre 312 F1 engine as well as a replica transaxle. It was actually sold to Mr Glickenhaus by David Piper as a replica and that is what he agreed to buy and bought. He then embarked on a campaign stating the replica was actually the real Ferrari 330 P3/4 0846 the winner of the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona but he is a liar and it has been proven the car is a fake yet he continues to state it is the real thing.
0846 was first a 330 P3. Then it becomes P3/P4 with the engine tipo 237. This car was fully destroyed in 1968 in Maranello. So it's a re creation but a perfect one. Ing Forghieri had say to Glickenhaus that It's incorrect to give it this name P3/P4.
Info about this car from the factory itself: "The car was built on February 1966 as a P3 version and during its racing period, officially managed by the Factory, it went though several modifications in order to race the 24 hours of Daytona in 1967 as a P3/4. We also confirm that, as reported in your dossier, the car caught fire during the 24 hours of Le Mans. It was then totally dismantled and because of the extended damages detected, the factory decided not to perform any repair and to write off the chassis no. 0846."
Yes. 0846 was driven by Amon-Vacarella at Le Mans 1967. It caught fire and was fully destroyed at Maranello. So 0846 doesn't exist anymore. It's a re-creation and Forghieri had written to Glickenhaus about this. Anyway the car is lovely.
@@DL-ls5sy Looks very nice but the way the incorrect 3 litre 312 F1 engine is mounted is unsatisfactory and weakens the chassis structure. Ferrari would never mount an engine in the way it has been on this car.
