A comment that has always stuck with me was when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said "We all came on different ships, but were all in the same boat now.." think embodies Dave Chappelle's humor. Everyone & anyone is fair game to him and why I appreciate his comedic talents so much. He certainly has earned his PhD. in comedy a true master of the art. Must add the presentation of the award by Lawrence D. Bobo truly embraced Dave's gifts and was a pleasure to watch..

When he hears "teller of uncomfortable truths", you see the appreciation of his intentions being recognized. When you hear him talk about some deeper stuff, when you really engage into conversation, the man shows the ability to lay bare the nerves and poke them, unadulterated. That's intelligence, or so I feel, because it's then where the real pain comes out. And he's not affraid to really help you by going there. What you do see is that he then gives you options to think about on how you can put it into perspective. And yes, you see that in his stand-ups. He adresses, fearlessly and then make it leveled. That's art.
