Anytime you guys stop to give the street cats food and pats I go AWEEE out loud every time. The quality content no one asked for, but I love seeing every time.
Hi, I’m a French ICU nurse, I can tell you that most asian don’t need as much anestesia than caucasian at least. It’s like alcool, they don’t metabolise the same. Fun fact gingers peaple need 20 to 30% more anestesia than most caucasian people. Most of these différences are genetic but some can be from your lifestyle. Love your Channel, it help me to relax after work ❤
You are such a lovely couple & perfectly matched, I love your humour, Seoul looks amazing I love the shops and especially the cafes thank you for sharing ❤
You guys are on 🔥 with wonderful springtime content this year. Loved the production of this video - the saturation of color in the Vietnamese restaurant and the blurred background 8:45- fantastic.
I had an endoscopy in Korea when I lived there as well. They gave me the dosage, I closed my eyes and woke up thrashing about 10 seconds later when they were placing the scope down my throat. They held me down to finish the endoscopy. Korea does not give high enough dose of the propofol. When I brought my paperwork back to the US when I had a follow-up endoscopy done a few years later, my gastroenterologist basically said what they gave me in Korea was enough to close my eyes.
Ethnicity DOES make a difference in biology. This is just one example. BMI for East Asians like Koreans and Japanese is much lower than for Caucasians and Blacks, for instance, so East Asians typically have smaller waistlines than Caucasians/Blacks. That doesn't mean ALL East Asians are slender. But, it does mean that, generally, East Asians are more slender compared to Caucasians and Blacks. But, obesity can still occur amongst East Asians. The measuring tapes used are different, though.
That must have been traumatizing.. so sorry for your experience. It’s the opposite for me. I’m over anesthetized in the US (heart rate drops too low), so now based on my Korean medical records, they’ll administer a lower dosage.
I'm at 하루떡 right now! I came after seeing your video yesterday. What a gem ^^ And the 사장님 ushered me to the same table you sat at lol. Thanks for introducing this place! ❤
Inflation in Singapore is bad but am so glad that our apples here are still sold at very affordable prices as compared to the prices in Korea e.g US80cts to US$2 (for the famous Envy apples).
This cat bookstore is really cute. For the fruits price they can change a lot : french strawberries and cherries almost 15€/kg at the beginning of the season. 5 to 8€ for abricot (bio fruit). Apple 3€/kg....well cheaper than in Korea. I hope prices will go down. Kisses to you and the lovely Beemo. ☺️
OMG, I so want to go to that cat book store. I have to save this video so I can watch it again closer to my trip. I wonder how it will be when it's winter though.
Love the Lilisilk pieces.. the pleated camisole is gorgeous on you!! My hairdresser just recommended I get silk pillow cases (to reduce hair damage) so this was perfect timing! Thanks for another lovely vlog to cap off the week!! 🩷
Thank you! I can’t wait to wear it when the weather gets a little warmer 😍 And silk pillow cases are such a game changer! We’ve been using only these for the last 3-ish years ✨
Appel is that one fruite that most people are tired of in Norway. Just today as I offered some to my friend, I got the classic "I'm tired of appel reply"... BUT, It's a privilege to have access to so many apples that we grow tired of them! So I always make sure to enjoy them extra much, becuase they aren't a given...Let's hope for a future where everyone can enjoy diverse and affordable options. Perhaps it's time for an 'applevolution' !
So interesting about the apples. My husband has some friends in Maine who just much of their apple orchard in a recent ice storm. Initially, when they said the trees snapped and were lost, we thought they meant big branches, but it turns out that entire tree trunks snapped, some down to the ground. They are discussing digging an entire orchard out and replanting, because even if sprouts grow from the broken trunks, it would take as long if not longer to grow apples vs new saplings.
I genuinely love watching your videos while having breakfast in the morning, it makes me feel so relaxed and ready to start the day right after! It was also really nice to see parts of Hyehwa, my boyfriend lives around there and we've been doing long distance for years now (6 to be exact) and I managed to visit him last year and recognized the streets and a lot of the stores, felt sweet to reminisce. ☺
OMG that cat book store is absolutely to die for 😩😩😭😭🥺🥺😺😺💙💙✨ ...like I already commented "..this spot is a must-visit spot in Seoul once I visit Korea" so many times on your videos but THIS STORE IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST-VISIT!!! 🥺😭😺💙✨. Not just the cats, but the cat-themed books and merch too!! 🥺😺 (Just bleed my life savings now aasfjknafjnakgnsdkjggfkn)
Love this, cat bookstore looks very relaxing and interesting ( funny a whole book with cat’s meow lol). Sorry to hear about the fruit prices, that’s pretty expensive.
Sarah, you look great in those silk clothes!!! Sighhhhh, wish I could find those delicious rice treats where I live ( New Jersey, US). Glad your weather is improving. Loved the cat book shop and the neighborhoods you were in. Thanks for sharing! Fruit prices are higher here too, all food actually, but NOT as high as that for apples!!! I will certainly appreciate eating fruit here a lot more after seeing how super pricey it is in other places!!!😳
I enjoyed this video so much; it was so peaceful. MEOW, MEOW, MEOW MEOW, translation: I loved the MEOW Book and its author 🤣🤣🤣I wish I could share my apples with you I have in my home now: Red Delicious, Pink Lady, Crispy Sweet. They are nice hard apples which I love. Thanks for sharing. 🥰🥰
As a redhead I always need way more anesthesia (both my parents too). The fact that I'm a redhead is always brought up in the process because it's such a well-known thing in doctor circles. So I can definitely relate. 😅
that's true! redheads do need the most amount of anesthesia (my sister is an anesthesiologist) and she did learn that in school, and asians do need the least!
Oh boy, then I wonder what my Asian Irish mixed daughter with some ginger in her hair will need if she ever needs anesthesia. Maybe it just averages out? lol.
Hi Sarah! Hi Kyuho! OMGEEE Kyuho! Your post anesthesia comments are hilarious! I have to tell you both that I’m shocked and amazed at how you can just get an endoscopy on the same day, go under with ‘the milk,’ be allowed to do it at the same time, AND are left to get home on your own accord. Especially, since Sarah had to have double the amount of Propofol. I get that you snap out of it quickly, but still…..I have to have a colonoscopy every year, with an endoscopy every two years-under Propofol anesthesia, and mine are scheduled months in advanced, and I have to have a driver, along with post procedural instructions regarding not making financial decisions, or anything else of the utmost importance for the first 24 hours. Your medical staff is impressive to be able to handle multiple procedures at the drop of a hat. I love it when you take us shopping with you. The cat’s at the bookstore are living their best life for sure, soooo cute! Thank you for this springtime walk to a new area, for sharing your delicious lunch and snack, and for showing us how crazy expensive fruit is in Korea. I’m curious to know how much fruit is at Costco in Korea. Take care! Have a great week you guys!
That tteok cafe is so lovely - love their attention to detail. That place and the cat bookstore are two more reasons to visit Korea. My envy subsided a little when I saw the fruit prices in Korea. I can't believe a Korean pear costs $18. In Canada one would cost $3-$5 depending on the season. I bought strawberries for about $2.25 recently, but I've seen them as much as $5. Is this just the time of year? Are there any affordable fruit in Korea?
It was such a nice surprise running into you guys in Seoul today. We were so worried about bothering you for too long that we only chatted about the weather for a minute and then said bye without even taking a selfie, but I can genuinely say that you give off such good vibes in person, it was a real joy meeting you. Your channel is our little window back into Seoul when we're away, so that was a lucky moment for sure in a city this big. All the best!
It was so nice running into you both as well-you didn’t bother us at all! Really appreciate you stopping to say hi 😊 Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip-you picked a great time to come 🌿
I have never seen a Vietnamese restaurant with a self ordering system - I think that is quite common in Seoul, right? I love bun cha, but few restos here in Toronto make it. Apparently there is a lot of technique to that dish.
Oh my gosh - I thought at first those must be gift apples!! I didn’t realize how good I had it buying a 5-lb bag for ₩10,000 back in 2017 (at a market, but still). Here’s hoping the government can do something to help out the apple industry (and people who love apples)~ Also, love love the cat bookstore! ♡ 🐈 Definitely adding 책보냥 to my list for a future visit…
NOPE 🙃 Just your regular local supermarket apples 🍎 Even at outdoor markets we saw strawberries at 12,000 won for a small pack-similar prices for fruit everywhere it seems 🥲
If you haven’t read The Goodbye Cat by Hiro Arikawa, I highly recommend it-the stories in it are very touching. 🥰 Is fruit cheaper at markets as opposed to grocery stores? I know here the prices are quite different. (Here is the Niagara region in Ontario.) The prices at Zehrs are highway robbery (to borrow an expression from my grandma!). 😂
The way that doggo was splooting 😭 what a cutie. My dogs do that too and we call it "turkey legs" because their back legs look like turkey legs 😂🤣 That cat book shop was so cute I would stay there for ages and pet the cats. My husband would have to drag me away lol (if he didn't wanna stay and pet the cats himself). Those fruit prices are crazy, strawberries are like $8 a pint here, which I thought was a lot, $15? Sheesh. Edit: are there such things as like "pick your own" in Korea? We live a few miles away from an orchard and we go in the summer and fall to pick our own berries and apples. It costs about the same as at the grocery store so we prefer to do that where possible. Is that just not a thing? Or is it native inaccessible to people in the city?
I've always thought about it for at least a decade, and it's expected to get even more extreme in the future, Korea is basically a hell of a place for lovers of bread (good quality), lots of fruit, and beef. At food prices. Also, the only cheap food available right now is factory-made processed and ready-to-eat foods. Frankly, Korea has developed a culture of eating out, so there is a widespread perception that eating outside is much cheaper than homemade food, but now that's even completely wrong. Unless we don't have enough money, or the portion of our food expenses is much higher than before the COVID-19 era, we won't be able to buy as much food as we did in the 2010s. The average Korean worker's perceived income level did not rise significantly five to 10 years ago, but only most food prices rose by 20 to 30 percent, or up to 50 percent.
It's really sad that the produce prices are so high, particularly apples. Maybe it's time for the government to step in and make farming a priority- maybe subsidize current farms or make deals with foreign producers. Shifting gears, I don't know if it's just me, but it seems that South Koreans just LOVE kitties. Does that ring true, or is it just your focus because you adore them? Either way, I'm really enjoying the content.
Yeah, it’s just insane at this point. I really hope they start opening up to more fruit imports, because it’s really not going to get any better at this rate. And over the last several years more Koreans have definitely been warming up to cats 🐈
I bought this jacket several years ago from a little online Korean shop that unfortunately no longer exists 🥲 I hit the jackpot with this jacket -usually I don’t have that kind of luck haha!
wow! fruits what??? where I am in USA berries are expensive under $5 dollars and just 1 apple are under $2 (though state to state is different prices) dollars but not like over $10 dollars , it's crazy, in general food prices are soooo hike , I buy the fruits epically berries and into the freezer, lol, good video to watch
how much would the fruit cost without all that plastic packaging though? 🤔 i don't know how to say this in english, so hope it makes sense: do they sell loose fruit in grocery stores? like, can you buy 1kg or just 1 unit or 2 of strawberries or apples or oranges if you wanted to? [not in like pre-packaged bags]
They don’t sell it without the plastic packaging 🙃 They’re almost always pre-packaged. But I saw a local place today selling a single unwrapped apple for 5,000 won ($5 CAN) each.
Despite Canada having a large variety of apples. I refuse to buy imported apples from the US even if they cost less. There is a huge difference in quality, taste and nutritional value when eating and buying local. I may make some exceptions like abate pears, some tropical fruits and citrus which Canada doesn't grow etc. Of all fruits I'm primarily on the berry team. However my favourite apples I ever tried are Russet which are indigenous to Quebec. They are a late harvest variety called a winter apple. They are very hard to find elsewhere in Canada and cost a bit more vs other local varieties. I'll admit I did venture out and bought a Korean imported apple at a local Korean grocery store. They are very expensive for Canadian standards but funnily enough cost less in Canada than in Korea! I have to admit their apples are ten times better than the other imported ones I tried from the States, Chile etc. The Korean pears are equally amazing. I would rather spend more as a treat to myself and get something that has flavour and texture versus being cheap bland and mushy. Also they are so large one could be good to enjoy twice in an entire day 😂 I don't drink, smoke, gamble, do drugs and rarely eat out, why not have fresh fruit as my guilty pleasure and treat myself from time to time? I would rather buy a box of three Korean pears than a bottle of wine or eat out.
I hear a lot about these full body check ups in Korea, how much are they? If you are comfortable with sharing of course. People say it's very affordable.
There are sooo many different packages, tests etc. you can get done at different hospitals and clinics, so the price varies a lot depending on what you choose to get done and where. But in our experience, it’s reasonably priced and very efficient.
It varies a lot but I think it's usually under 400,000won(full check ups) and I've done it at 200,000won. Workers at public enterprises, big companies are often free and the partner is also free.
Hi Sarah!!! 😊 Been watching your vlogs, and I really like your fashion style. It's simple and clean. It is Not fussy. You appear to be someone who doesn't buy unnecessary pieces. I also saw that you have a small closet. ****Could you please do a tour of your wardrobe, of all the pieces you keep in your closet, and how you decide what to keep and toss or give away, and not buy??? *** I'm looking for a way to choose clothing pieces for all 4 seasons, and it is not easy to do when you have a small closet like mine. THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!!!😊❤ Everyone, if you want to see Sarah do this, please thumbs up my comment!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Thank you, everyone!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😘😘😘😘😘😘
P.S. It doesn't have to be for every piece you own. Lol. Just a general overview. Just would love to see how you keep a wardrobe of clothes for all 4 seasons in a small closet. 😀
What about other types of fruits? Does Korea forbid the importation of other types of fruits as well? As a Canadian, I can't imagine paying $18 for 2 apples. That's insane. Give me my 3 lb bag of Gala, please.
Just getting caught up on your vids. Loved the cat bookstore, wish we had one. The "Meow" library books reminded me of Meow Mix commercials. For example, then ( ruclips.net/video/JeP0iyd0sn8/видео.htmlsi=gnueqXJLearmoc5B ) and now ( ruclips.net/video/R3CWJVSDDxU/видео.htmlsi=DXgW_y7eMnSm8J8V ). I have to keep an eye out for a cat in the box. I was wondering if there was a Korean saying for "Best time to shop is on a full stomach"? Did you ever think of doing a vid on a Hanok? See if you can get inside one, what it would take to get one and the cost involved. Again, if the saying is true "A picture is worth a thousand words", then your vids would fill libraries. Hey BMO! 😺
So unfortunate about the fruits and especially apples. Definitely sounds like an economy thing that the gov't can hopefully fix, at the a big piece of it. My dad probably eats a fuji apple almost every day. And when our kiddo is over there (once a week), she always has to have a couple slices of grandpa's apple haha. I guess I shouldn't take for granted the accessibility to fruits we have here :(.
Sarah do not like curry!? Oh no..CURRY is good!... 🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣 it's ok. We don't have to like everything that's edible. I also dislike Oysters... 🤭 many friends don't understand me
7.47...Phở ? Not 'FOE' its pronounced FAAAW. Hopefully well be back soon in May/June and going to check out all your restaurants..and MAYBE look into trying to move there... what was the name of that rice cake shop/location?
We’re well aware ;) We didn’t say “faw” or ‘foe’ in the video. We said “쌀국수”, which is what you call the dish in Korean (basically translates as ‘rice noodle soup’). All info is in the description box.
What !? They put you under for upper GI? Didn’t think anyone does that nowadays. Here in Uk Drs use throat spray with local anesthetic. My last one was thru the nose too , 😅. poor Sarah , no needles here …
Ummm, that sounds HORRIFIC being awake for something like that! 😰 In Korea you can choose to go under or not, but the vast majority of people choose to go under. Same in Canada and the U.S, I believe.
And here I thought $6.49 (₩6,480) for a 3lb/1.36kg bag of Gala apples at Sobeys here in Halifax was bad. Even the most expensive, Honeycrisp, are only $9.99 (₩9,975) for a 3lb/1.36kg bag. Yeesh.
Sarah, have you, Kyuho, your parents and prob even Kevin holidayed together in some SE Asian countries? Or have I mixed up you guys and another couple...hmmmmm. It'd be interesting.
also... Korean healthcare vs U.S is wild. To get an endoscopy here you'd have to be throwing up blood then you'd have to wait two-four months before you could even get it.

laughed so hard at the story in the beginning that i started CRYING, just imagining kyuho saying that stuff oh my god

Book store kitties were so cute …I’m speechless at those fruit prices 😱
We couldn’t get enough of that shop and those kitties 🥰
And yeah…we’re still in shock whenever we go to the markets here now 🥲
the meow book, they also have the audiobook for it
Omg no way 😂😂
As a G.I tech who gives multiple endoscopies a day, that story at the beginning was hilarious 💀😂😂
I bet you’ve heard your share of stuff 😂

The way that doggo was splooting 😭 what a cutie. My dogs do that too and we call it "turkey legs" because their back legs look like turkey legs 😂🤣
That cat book shop was so cute I would stay there for ages and pet the cats.
I love your vanity mirror! Where is it from? ❤
Thanks! I believe we bought it on G-Market in 2015!
I hope you two get to visit India someday bcoz you will 100% find hundreds of dishes that will suite Sarah’s palette.
Sarah, where is that leather jacket from? Its looks like the perfect lighter-weight and stylish jacket!
I bought this jacket several years ago from a little online Korean shop that unfortunately no longer exists 🥲 I hit the jackpot with this jacket -usually I don’t have that kind of luck haha!
@@2hearts1seoul Well I've been loving your outfits in general :) thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much! 🥰
Not in the market for clothes but that striped top looks great on Sarah
Thank you 🥰 It’s insanely comfy~

👍on video content and length. Enjoyable to watch. 😎
wow! fruits what??? where I am in USA berries are expensive under $5 dollars and just 1 apple are under $2 (though state to state is different prices) dollars but not like over $10 dollars , it's crazy, in general food prices are soooo hike , I buy the fruits epically berries and into the freezer, lol, good video to watch
I never understand the high fruit prices because it basically has a shelf life of zero and then it gets marked down before it spoils.
how much would the fruit cost without all that plastic packaging though? 🤔
i don't know how to say this in english, so hope it makes sense: do they sell loose fruit in grocery stores? like, can you buy 1kg or just 1 unit or 2 of strawberries or apples or oranges if you wanted to? [not in like pre-packaged bags]
They don’t sell it without the plastic packaging 🙃 They’re almost always pre-packaged. But I saw a local place today selling a single unwrapped apple for 5,000 won ($5 CAN) each.
@@2hearts1seoul considering the price of 2 packaged apples, I'm going to dare say "that's a bargain" hahaha
How sad is that? 😭
Beemo's going to know you've been cheating on him with other cats😂
Irish or Viking decent need extra. My dentist and doctors are all aware because the red in the hair.
I always need extra at the dentist as well!
Hey Sara, you remind me of the Taiwanese - Italian actress in the movie Man in Love, Tiffany Hsu

I want that Meow book 😂😂
Whats the name of the caffe shop with rice cakes? 😊
All info is in the description box :)
moral of the blog - go out and get apples because you can 😢
I hear a lot about these full body check ups in Korea, how much are they? If you are comfortable with sharing of course. People say it's very affordable.
There are sooo many different packages, tests etc. you can get done at different hospitals and clinics, so the price varies a lot depending on what you choose to get done and where. But in our experience, it’s reasonably priced and very efficient.
It varies a lot but I think it's usually under 400,000won(full check ups) and I've done it at 200,000won. Workers at public enterprises, big companies are often free and the partner is also free.
Are the $15 🍓 strawberries organic? 😊
Nope~
The way you were speaking about apples it was making me think about how it's a bit similar with immigration, kinda bizarre, lol
Watching this as a South African is a very wild experience. We get six apples for $1. 😅
UNREAL 🥲🍎
Hey BMO! 😺
A lot of people think there is a needle left when IV is placed. No needle just a small flexible catheter left.
Regardless, something is lodged into my vein, and makes me pass out 🙃
Apples in France costs 4 euro for 5 😂😂😂
Is that cheap or expensive in your country? 😊
Is that cheap or expensive in France? 😊
Perspective. I’ll appreciate fruit more now. It’s expensive but definitely not as expensive as Korea.
Always remember, you could be paying nearly $20 for 2 apples 🥲🍎🍎

Sarah do not like curry!? Oh no..CURRY is good!... 🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣 it's ok. We don't have to like everything that's edible. I also dislike Oysters... 🤭 many friends don't understand me
I’m not a fan of curry, cumin, or turmeric 🥲 Weirdly enough I love pretty much every other spice/herb.
@@2hearts1seoul people say your taste buds change as you age, so y'll never know :) meow meow meow meow meowwww.....
Those fruit prices 😮 Not being able to have apples whenever you want is such a shame, I hope they change the laws soon.
why is fruit so expensive in Korea??
Great question 🙃 Wish we knew.

We’re well aware ;) We didn’t say “faw” or ‘foe’ in the video. We said “쌀국수”, which is what you call the dish in Korean (basically translates as ‘rice noodle soup’). All info is in the description box.
책보냥? ㅋㅋ 책방 이름이 재미있네요. 다른건 몰라도 한국의 장바구니 물가는 독일이나 미국보다 비쌉니다.이러다 굶어 죽을지도 모르겠습니다.😅
Yeesh.
Yup 🙃 We have a field day with fruit whenever we’re in Canada.
Hey guys, how is Beemo?
Sarah, have you, Kyuho, your parents and prob even Kevin holidayed together in some SE Asian countries? Or have I mixed up you guys and another couple...hmmmmm. It'd be interesting.
We haven’t, but we’ve gone with Kyuho’s parents to SEA :)
next cat me get I go name it after their cats name
그러고 보니 사과는 수입산을 못 본 것 같네요.
also... Korean healthcare vs U.S is wild. To get an endoscopy here you'd have to be throwing up blood then you'd have to wait two-four months before you could even get it.
