Podcast: • Rethinking the Belt Sy...
Love your videos. As a 42 year old white belt with a small wrestling background, these judo videos are great for some interesting throws.. it's hard to get single and double leg shots in on when wearing the gi.. these judo videos are giving me a bigger choice of throw and takedown attacks! Much appreciated professor
big fan of your channel! I am a brown belt in jiu jitsu little to no judo (besides what i learn from my professors the typical BJJ judo takedowns). Over the last two years i have become much more enamored with the art of Judo. A good reason is because of your videos. I teach a morning class and try to implement some of your teachings, mostly basic judo movements, to the students. I definitely DO NOT have the best technique when it comes to Judo moves. but i enjoy learning from your videos. Thanks big dawg.
A couple of suggestions for the upcoming videos. A video on hip throws for big fellas on smaller opponents would be cool. Or fireman carry and double leg defenses and counters with the gi, that they are nowhere to be found on the internet.
I'd agree. Also the other way around, challenges for little guys vs strong/stiff big/tall guys
Completely agree. There are so many vids on small vs big opponents, would be great to see more of big vs shorter
Thank you. Everything you post makes my grappling better.
Another awesome system!!! These are exactly the grips I have been playing around with in the dojo. Now I'm seeing so many more options from cross collar 🥋OSSSSS
I like cross grip but I need more tools from there, this was helpful. Thanks
Really digging this system. I often get this same side grip, bc I lose the normal grip fight.
Nice series. Thank you. Though I find it hard to grab cross collar first without sleeve since you almost put yourself in a Russian tie. I do it all the time to my student when i can break a sleeve grip and circle. I then get a back grip and start working trips.
Awesome, this is my go to grip. Your channel is increible as always
thanks, I've just learned the reverse drop seoi nage and this is very useful!
Thanks for your hard work, your channel is great!
Love this grip. Sets up the collar drag for BJJ, also a standing loop choke if you're into that kind of thing. Arm drag is more accessible, etc.
This is mesmerizing to watch :)
Great system. Love it.
Great video, Sensei. I've been digging the cross grip lately. Oss!
Keep doing this guys!! You guys are great
This is a superb gripping video with movement.
Great instruction!
I prefer this grip for BJJ. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
So to summarize:
- take cross collar grip with normal hikite
- Use combinations of Sode, Kouchi, Ouchi, Drop Seio, Sambo Seio/Kata Guruma, and a big Osoto switch to finish
Correct?
Thanks for summarizing it! Helps me to know the names (BJJ practitioner here).
Hi please can you do a full video tutorial starting with grip set up and into the systems. Basically what Danaher does but for throws.
Thank you for that !
My Judo sensei always uses this when I'm fighting him, needless to say I alway end up on the mats LOL!
Thank you!!!
Thank you
very good tecknic. I like that and going to use this definetly
Amazing!
Excellent!!!!
What should you do if you missed controlling the hand and your opponent cuts the corner and sets up a russian tie off the cross collar grip?
best sound in one of your videos in a long time
whats the deal with standing submissions in judo . or at least starting while standing for example a loop choke off the cross collar grip
You aren't allowed to start a submission technique while standing. It's ok to prepare the grip and then go for it after going down, but the restrictions and the risk of a penalty are too high to make this really feasible (in competition).
@@cerotidinon just in today ijf rules...
thanks for answering@@cerotidinon
It is eri seoi nage...
armb bar from grabbing standing cross collar.
cross collar from closed gard. same side from standing.
in submission grappling like Sambo Brazilian jiu-jitsu
Yeahhhh
What criteria do they use to ascertain if you're being defensive with the cross grip or not vs a regular passivity
What about Tai-Otoshi?
Why do you not use a harai goshi
Tai Otoshi?
What is the name of this game
Can you do Tai Otoshi from that grip?
Good idea, that could probably work, almost like a one-handed tai otoshi
the cross-grip tai otoshi is in fact the strongest tai otoshi
How to escape from this GRIP?
When i get cross griped i try not to give my hand to get griped also. Because if you have got cross griped in the lapel and your hand there is not much you can actually do. Now having got cross griped i myself cross grip under the opponent's hand .That blocks his attacks. After i use my other free hand to tear away my cross griped lapel.
Does this work the same with left vs right?
Not exactly the same, but if you can get a sleeve and then circle your opponent you can cross grip the lapel and then start working from there.
