- Kerry and Chad review the Chiappa 1873 - 22 Single Action Revolver Review. Although the gun is designed as a replica to the Colt 1873 Peacemaker, this version is chambered in the much smaller .22 Long Rifle.
This really was a great interview. I bought his because I wanted something else in the cowboy vein. I know I will be enjoying this.
Very nice video. I've been debating about getting this for awhile and heard bad reviews about Chiappa, but after watching 4-5 review videos on this gun and after watching yours, I'm definitely sold on buying it. Thank you so much.
Do you still feel good about this pistol I been wondering if I did good or not have you had any hiccups with it I would appreciate your help
I bought this gun NEW last year at my local Rural King store for $100.00. I couldn't pass it up for that price. I see now that their selling at other price gouging stores, like Cabala's, for about $200.00. It is what it is. It fires every time with decent accuracy and it's cheap to shoot. It's a fun little gun.
Anyone figure out what other grips will fit on these? Ruger single six, vaquero, etc?
Did he say Colt Pacemaker when was talking about seeing the 1873 in the movies?
I think he did
Yep.
He clearly said "Peacemaker"
I Hurd pace maker as well
I got one a few months ago as my first gun. Fairly cheap and they come in 10 shot cylinders now. Mine came with 2 cylinders, one for 22 mag and one for 22 LR.
We have run a few hundred rounds through it without any problems.
how does it compare to the heritage arms rough rider?
I'm loving the door mat on the desk! lol
Bought one . Love it
at 0:28... Pacemaker OR Peacemaker..? lol
I just bought one with wooden handles and in a .17 10 rds. it is awesome blows cans of food to pieces, literally and rips cans like a shot gun. The .17 cal is a highly underestimated ammo you are talking 2550 fps and a muzzle ft pounds of 245. Beautiful gun I have a standard black holster but want to buy a leather revolver western style to keep the nestasia look and feel.
How is the durability? I had a heritage that broke fairly quickly
Well now the one I had was so out of time and did not index correctly and leaded the forcing cone area and the front of the cylinder badly, I got rid of it the next day in this price range the Heritage .22 /.22mag by far the better gun.
I think that SA is a great training aid. It teaches you to appreciate every single shot as if it were your only shot instead of just being careless. That mentality is good for improving form, technique, patience and discipline. In turn, this can help improve your accuracy with a semi-automatic. Besides, there's just a fun romanticism associated with SA that any cowboy fan can attest to.
Sorry what was that? What is a single action again?
Is it going to hold up
I bought a 22lr Excam .. Has a manual safety on , single action ... Do they sell 22 magnum cylinders for this??? You can email me also...
Thanks
To shoot this you need very small hands. The Length of Pull, if you can call it that is tiny. My index finger rested on the front of the trigger guard. To reach the trigger I had to hold it so uncomfortably. I bought the Heritage Arms Rough Rider.
they fast draw amazing
Can I fire a 22 LR ammo out of this gun?
PS ... Revolvers do not have chambers ergo it is not then chambered technically. It's Peacemaker not a Pacemaker. Just for the record...
Mine is a 10 shot in 22LR and 22 Magnum.
It's easier to pull the cylinder to empty and reload it.
The hammer and trigger are gritty and you can feel the $300 price difference from the $500 ultra high quality 12 shot Uberti.
I got it to physical match to my Uberti 45LC, I just need to find a brass grip frame/trigger guard.
Next time how about showing more close ups and lay the gun down so we can SEE it.
The Chiappa 1873 22 cal. pistol is pretty cheaply manufactured. Mine shot way low and to the left of point of aim at 25 yards. The front sight is pot metal, so be careful if you try to adjust it. After about 100 rounds, the cylinder stop broke. Yes, the metal where the pivot pin goes through is paper thin, and it broke in two pieces. I am still trying to get the proper paperwork from Chiappa to return the pistol for repair under warranty. It’s a fun gun, don’t get me wrong, it’s just cheap. To you old timers, think “RG”
Can you fast draw with it, and should you load only 5, and have the hammer on an empty chamber as a rule?
Sure, you could fast draw it. There are good reasons for using an empty chamber as a safety. I don't short-load at the range, but if I was carrying a revolver I would.
The Firearms Show Thanks for the info, and for the uploads.
Modern revolvers and most replica revolvers like this have a transfer bar safety. The firearm won't go off unless the hammer is drawn back. For a time Ruger even had a free upgrade offer for owners of their old revolvers to add the transfer bar safety feature. It's a passive feature, you don't have to do anything.
You like your feet?
@@juana1483 Yes
I'm looking to buy an inexpensive 22LR revolver: What's better? This, the Heritage Rough Rider or the Puma Legacy?? All around the same price...
The Heritage Rough rider it the best in accuracy and durability
Thanks, ended up getting a Heritage at an awesome price and I couldn't be happier... especially shooting Aguila Colibri "Quiet" 20 gr ammo, its awesome to plink with
Joey P you got the best one by far ...
+Joey P fun fact, Chiappa and Puma are the same company
Joey P hahaha I got me the rough rider too lol only down fall is being a 6 instead of a 10
Thanks for your Chiappa 1873 has two, 10 round cylinders; .22 LR and .22 WMR. It's a blast to shoot.
Have you had any issues yet ❓I would appreciate your help
@@thetimetotakeastandj.g4985 I have zero issues with my Chiappa 1873 and highly recommend this revolver.
@@Me2Lancer thank you for your time sir
I've just bought one. My first firearm, can't wait to go to the range.
i just saw your comment. was it worth the few bucks? ibeen looking for a plinker since now my 380 and 38 costs way to much to casually shoot at the range.
Yes, very dangerously Accurate!
@@whitefoxaurafeild3743 yeah great for plinking around but the 22lr still the cheapest
22 caliber does not brother me as a defensive round, but it as a rimfire does.
I just bought a sea 1873. Lr and mag. I’m a right handed and a left handed shooter, for a cheap pistol, I’m going to get another because I like shooting with both hands at the same time, very cheap pistol but it’s good to teach with if this is all you have, I have a smith Wesson 38 police special, believe it or not I practice better with the CHIAPPA
The blade on my front sight is extremely high, so it in turn shoots extremely low.
00:28 Peacemaker, not pacemaker.
what i dont like about it, is the cylinder is not made of steel or the barrel, they are alloy with steel inserts. At least the heritage is steel on both the barrel and cylinder. the lock notches on the cylinder wear out due to it being alloy
Where are the Chiappa firearms made?
Brescia, Italy
these revolvers are actually made in Dayton Ohio
y are the comments the opisite of the review?
Shorten the barrel and make it a NAA mini revolver competor as a deep conceal gun .
Peacemaker not pacemaker
I'm 14 I want my grandfather to buy this so we can shoot together I don't think they would be in the gun shot can the gunsmith to Oder it???
Super Moon - more than likely they can. Hopefully your grandfather has bought it for you by now.
y does it look like the guy on the left is wearing eyeliner????
i am looking for something just like this for protecting against rattlesnake or small deadly animal defense i am looking just for something like this under 200 dollars this may be just what i need for its purpose intended for it
Key-appa
My chiappa is a 10 shot 22.
It’s called “cocking” the hammer
is this allowed in California
I dont think this comment would even be allowed in California 😂
Nothing is allowed in California the don't want you to protect yourself and your family be safe out there
Most people who shoot da revolvers shoot single action so no big thing
I bought mine to use rat shot in it while fishing or walking through the woods.
I own the Heritage Rough Rider 22lr/22wmr and this Chiappa 22. The Heritage is a far better gun. Just say'n.
1024truck thanks
I love my Rough Rider and so does my daughter. However, I've been thinking about getting one of the Chiappas for her because I think she'd like the looks of it a little more. They seem like comparable guns.
thank you for this comment this is what i was wondering.
I have one it's totally crap; don't waste your money buy anything else. These guys are clueless, it self destructs. The super cheap paw can't take the heat and breaks. For self-defense a claw hammer is a better option.
Thanks for the proper pronunciation-KEE-apa. Not CHEE-apa.
Guy on the left needs to speak louder and understand what he is going to present. He failed to properly explain single action. He almost pointless presenting in this video unless he can give more dialog. You also need to lean the firearm against something so we see a side view of it and not it laying on a table. It needs to be the main focus, as it is what you are presenting. Otherwise, not a bad review. Just some constructive criticism to help your channel.
Thanx for the details ? not ,,,,,,,, whats it made of ? ,,,,,,,, useless review by Amateurs
PEACEMAKER - not pacemaker
It doesnt hold rounds in the barrell.
10 shot versions are available
Never mentioned the half cock feature.
Made in Ohio.
This could have been so much more informative if they gave facts and knew what they were talking about instead of saying the "fun factor" is off the charts 100 times.
I have one on order, hope the "fun factor is off the charts", 'cause thats what is important when owning a gun. (heavy sarcasm)
Boomer/10
It is a PEACE maker...not a pace maker. Please know your history.
I took one of these to the range recently and it's a piece of crap. From twenty yards it spread all over the target, and compared to the S&W .22 Masterpiece it's does not even deserve to be called junk. And who in their right mind would carry this for self defence?
