    Good video. The Rx3 may not be a great bike but there is a place for it and they are called poor working class people. Over the last 20 years all the big bike companies have been making it almost impossible for a low waged worker to even enjoy the sport of riding. Maybe RX3, tt250, hawk 250 will wake up the big bike manufacturers and see the need for a more affordable motorcycle. After all motorcycles are supposed to be a cheap form of transportation and not status symbols. As for buying a used Japanese bike not everyone wants to buy someone else's wore out problems. Have a nice day.

    • @HermitDaVlog
      @HermitDaVlog  7 лет назад +1

      Yeah I'm pulling for CSC to influence Japanese manufacturers the same way Honda and Toyota did to Detroit in the 80s. For now if someone has $3K and wants an on-road/of- road bike or even an on-road or off-road bike I can't see the RX3 being the best option in the long run unless what they really need is something one step up from a scooter. My impression is if you have 100 guys on a 100 old KRL605s and 100 guys on 100 RX3s and they all ride for 10K miles the KLR fleet will break less, be cheaper and easier to repair, be easier to resell for what they cost and be more capable on and off road. If I can get somebody to buy me 200 bikes I'm sure I could prove this.

    • @shawng3486
      @shawng3486 7 лет назад +6

      I agree totally that the KLRs are better bikes but they are overpriced from the start. When a used KLR sells for more than a full dressed street bike then something is out of line. I think we as a motorcyclist need to pull for the underdog and stop buying into corporate propaganda. Not everything has to be labeled with a corporate logo or endorsed to be a well made product. So lets get back to the basics of riding and stop buying into the hype. Prime example: take a plain white t-shirt and pay $5 for it, stamp a corporate logo on it and now its worth $40 and a better t-shirt??? Thank you and have a good day.

      The Hawk 250 has sure taken off well. $1400 for a well made apparently reliable NEW dual sport. Hard to beat for the money. A used 2008 Honda CRF230L is still bringing over $2200. As is the used Yamaha TW200 and the Suzuki DR200's. The TT250, I feel, is a good compromise. The RX3, , , no. I would have to go buy a used V-Strom 650 instead. BUT, having that been said, both the V-Stom and the KLR are a lot heavier than the RX3, so if bike WEIGHT is an issue then I can see the RX3 winning out on that fight. lol CSC's customer service is 2nd to none! People fuss about having to wait for parts. That is a BS argument. I have been waiting for over a week now to get a part for a HONDA. hahaha!!! CSC has EVERY PART of the TT250 and RX3 IN STOCK in Cali ad takes just 4 days to get here if needed.

    The RX3 is a commuter bike for people that want to LOOK like adventure riders. They could actually go out and throw some mud on it of something to make it look more realistic. The problem I see with this bike is that it is Chinese, and very expensive for a Chinese bike. If I wanted a simple around town commuter, I would either get a used Japanese 250, or maybe a brand new Suzuki DR200. If you are a large person (like me) this bike is too small. I ride a KLR650. I like the look, and the limited off road capability. Or at least dirt road capability. But it doesn't have panniers on it, I use soft luggage. But here's the thing. I also have a cruiser street bike, which is very comfortable, and I can ride in comfort on it all day long on the highway. Each bike has it's purpose. This bike is too small for me. But it has other issues. It is very cheaply made out of very cheap materials. Whatever you do, don't crash it. If it breaks down, there is no dealer available for warranty service or parts. Then there is the price. One of these shipped to you is going to cost $5000 by the time you pay CSC's fees, shipping, sales tax and registration. That's $1500 more than I paid for my KLR in great condition from a private seller, no sales tax, and very cheap registration. For that kind of money I could fully outfit it with top shelf adventure gear including real aluminum (not plastic) panniers, and it's big enough to take me anywhere. It's a mini BMWR1200GSA. For a fraction of the cost, a lot more simplicity and a lot less weight.

    America really needs cheap reliable lightweight motorcycles. Around the rest of the world- this is a given. I think it's mainly been due historically to Harley Davidson lobbying which is why these bikes are not on the streets in the US and haven't. Just wait for the next oil/gas crisis. There will be more no- name brands on the roads if congress doesn't make their importation impossible.

      When your on pavement on a road where the speed limit is under 50 there's nothing about the bike that reminds you it's a cheap overweight 250. You just know you're cruising on a great looking bike. In that situation I actually prefer it over a heavier over powered bike.

      @jaylittleton1 8 лет назад +1

      Good point. For interstate blasting across multiple states, I appreciate how my Gold Wing makes the miles melt away. My R60/5 is much more fun and enjoyable for the twisty and swoopy roads. Lighter, more responsive, less tiring to push it deeper in to the corners. I guess it's all about accepting the limits of each machine and staying (mostly) within the lines. Thanks for responding.

    Short sweet and to the point. BTW the TT 250 has a different engine. I own one and it's a blat to ride. WOT 75 MPH "flat road no wind" of coarse, with nothing more than a valve adjustment. And I live in jersey, ware CraigsList is more of a gamble then Atlantic city. So for just over 2.5k at my door and plated. Well worth it. Still like your (rest ride) over everides "bash and trash" review. Keep up the good vids. Don't forget to include the miss once and a while.

    Did Hermit just RECOMMEND the KLR650?? [Gasp]
    I was willing to give the RX3 a fair shake if it did well and though it failed I still respect it for what it is. It makes me wonder how CSC's dual sport is in comparison - I don't hold any hopes, but I'd like to know if they perhaps did a better job there.
    Thanks for the honest impressions!

    Funny, no consumer demand? But now Kawi, Honda, and even the illustrious BMW are offering 250-300cc ADV offerings, with KTM launching the 390 ADV in other parts of the world. That said, used is always a better way to go, way more bike for the money.

      So which models are you speaking of, because I'm not aware of any. If you mean the KLX250S and CRF250L those are dual sports, not adventure bikes and really not intended to be used the same way as the RX3.

      Hermit DaVlog Kawi Versys X 300, Honda CRF250L Rally, BMW G 310 GS.

    • @HermitDaVlog
      @HermitDaVlog  7 лет назад +1

      Yeah, I think the Versys and G 310 are really city bikes. I really don't think people are buying any of those to ride across country and conquer jeep roads while doing it. Plus All three of those bikes weigh less and have more power than the RX3. The CSC TT250 would be an interesting comparison for those though.

    • @norsefalconer
      @norsefalconer 7 лет назад +1

      Hermit DaVlog I'll give you the BMW, with what BMW themselves say, and the obviously street oriented cast wheels. But, I'll have to respectfully disagree on the others, especially the Versys. I think it's a strong contender to define the segment, at least until the KTM hits these shores. I wouldn't be surprised to see Yamaha enter the fray with a WR250R based Tenere model as well and for Honda to bring the Rally into line with it's other offerings by sliding the 300 in there. It's true, they are lighter and more powerful (and more expensive) than the RX3, but it would appear they are all battling in the Small Displacement Adventure Bike segment. It should be interesting to see what owners actually do with them, and if there is any notable sales success. Me? I'll be scouring Craiglist for a used (and farkled) X 300 in a year or two. 😉

    Hi Hermit ! I know this is out-of-context but could you please share with me a synthesis of your ideas for the power mods on the WR250R? I just got one and I'm pretty confused on what to do with it, to get a little more low end. FMF megabomb + Q4 = waste of $ right? With that in mind should I still go for the airbox mod, even without new exhaust? (is it needed to remove ais and exup?) is adding the attitude programmer still a good idea when not changing exhaust? I live in Tahoe and I ride at elevations of 6500 and 10,000 ft. Thanks for all your informative videos!

    • @HermitDaVlog
      @HermitDaVlog  8 лет назад

      Put a 47 or 48 tooth on the back first. No other single mod will give you a better experience for the money. Airbox is good, but I'd probably do the programmer too otherwise it could run too lean and burn up. I like the Q4 and stock header. When I removed the exhaust valve I didn't waste time or money on the exup servo eliminator. I just left the stock exup plugged in. No warning light, and it doesn't weigh as much as the internets say it does.

    secretly, hermit has bid on the RX3 that eveRide is selling. He secretly hopes he will win it so he can then sell all of his other bikes and just have this. He just won't tell about it. And if he denies it, well that is because he is keeping it a secret.
    Actually, I can see if all you need is a simple commuter bike that is easy to fix, then the RX3 would be good. Anything else, not so much.

    Great non-review. I keep thinking I should do a video on how silly it is to get a scooter when there are so many cool bikes that cost less. I meant to respond to your last response about parking my plane to loose weight but I forgot to - I'm getting old and forgetful :-) The stupid FAA has been giving me a tough time with my medical. It expired last month and I have not wanted to deal with the hassle of renewing it. I had surgery along with radiation several years ago that have completed my medical. Everything is fine (three of my doctors have said so to the FAA along with the FAA examiner) but the FAA still wants everything redone this year. Anyway, the plane is parked until I'm able to complete my medical which I'm expecting to take a few months.

    Hello.I agree with your comments on this test ride. Totally. *liked & subscribed* I have a scooter (Silverwing FSC600). And a motorcycle as well ( Silverwing GL500). I have owned bikes from a 250 Rebel to a 1200 Harley. Cruisers, dual sports, touring, sport bikes, never a adventure bike though. And The closest thing to a cool scooter, ok NOT "cool" but accepted by others because they are mostly ridden by OLD retired men, are the Burgman 650, Silverwing600, BMW C650, And Kymco 500. Again, mostly because they are nearly the size of a Goldwing, and ridden by older usually retired men. LOL You mentioned the V-Strom. I seen a NICE used one at a cycle shop not too far from here for $3200 with under 35k mi. on it.

    I thought it would be fun and different to get a used RX3 and do some long distant touring, but than I read complaints online about transmission problems, headlight bulbs burning out for unknown reasons, small amounts of fuel making its way back to the air filter box.....I was disappointed. This bike has been out for a few years now and I haven't been able to find any high mileage reviews. I can find them for a CRF250L, but wasn't able to find any 10K plus mile reviews for the RX3. Why is that? I also think its over priced at $3895. I hope Zongshen Motors is able to work out these problems and make a more reliable motorcycle, and get rid of that passenger back rest pad on the rear trunk box, or the sticker on the gas tank that says no passengers.

    • @HermitDaVlog
      @HermitDaVlog  8 лет назад

      To be fare I'm guessing the biggest reason is just that not nearly as many have been sold as the CRF250L. I'm guessing someone with a little fan boy in them will do a long distance review and put it to me sooner or later.

And I've seen some around with 40000Km
