Messi is the greatest of all time and it isn’t even close, that’s what makes him frightening.
He has all the sauce of Maradona, all the goals of Pele vs much stronger teams in the modern day, and record breaking assist numbers that CR7 could only dream of when he sobs that somebody else scored instead of him.
On top of it all, Messi has scored multiple once-in-a-lifetime goals, where he literally dribbles past 5-6 players and scores, multiple being from the halfway line.
You will never see anyone come close to him in your lifetime if you’re reading this, simple as that.

To the ronaldo side, I think we're already seeing a player very much like him in haaland at least in terms of numbers. He currently has 21 goals in 15 games in the ucl, if he keeps this up, not considering he can even still improve, or go to a elite team with better supporting cast, the chances of him breaking ronaldo's ucl records are very real, if he can stay largely injury free ofc. So, if lets say he does end up breaking all of ronaldo's goalscoring records going down a similar career path with various clubs, would he/would he not be considered better than ronaldo?

Calling Messi the GOAT is both true and calling him the greatest football ever. I personally agree with that statement. Pelé was out of this world, but he was in an era where there was little to no competition. Barcelona rely on Messi.
