- So, after Hostel: Part 2 grossed significantly less than the hit opening chapter, did that put any notions of a third part in serious doubt? Well, to put it simply, no. However, that didn’t mean that significant changes wouldn’t be made, mainly with the absence of Eli Roth as director, and it also going straight to what used to be the death knell for movies - directly to home entertainment. A surprisingly entertaining 3rd entry, even with the Direct too DVD budget.
I remember this coming out and feeling that it was seen as a disaster. I have been seeing a lot of people revisiting it and i think its time I watch it.
It was one Roth movies better sequel s.
Why is it even called "Hostel" If it's not at a hostel? It's more like "Leaving Las Vegas In a body bag."

Hostel represented the peak of mid-2000s nihilism in the horror genre. The combination of sadistic gore, douchebag leads, and implications of sinister secret societies are all very much of the zeitgeist of that time in popular culture. Any sequel would necessarily struggle to recapture the impact of that first foray, since once the premise of Elite Hunting is known to the audience, any mystery or suspense surrounding the lead character's fates is immediately dispelled. Like the Final Destination pictures, the only possible direction for subsequent installments is into greater contrivance and gaudier, more elaborate kills.
I went in to this with low expectations and ended up thoroughly enjoying it.
Eli Roth was supposed to make Hostel part 3 the sequel to Hostel part 2

the original DVD release
had the full version of the
song intact in the episode
I saw this title and said "theres a part 3"?!????
It wasn't great but it's ok for a watch and keep it as background noise and the change of pace to Vegas keeps it from being a rehash also Zulay Henao the woman that gets bugs dropped on her oohh mamasita.

Reason Hostel 3 doesnt really showcase its "Las Vegas" setting is because it was shot in DETROIT 🤣

I stumbled onto this disappointing gar-bage in about 2012 on Netflix. I remember getting extremely angry at seeing the CGI’d Michigan Central Station being used as the torture arena.
I Have The Unrated DVD Of This Film But The Kills Are Pretty Good Except When The Girl Swallowed Those CGI Cockroaches Man That Kill Was Lame. I Hope Eli Roth Goes Back To The Hostel Franchise And If They Do That It Would Be A Family Vacation From Hell.

Its funny when bad directors like Roth, get their one off shock film, that gets them attention just for being controversial, then they walk away from the thing they started, their career dwindles fast. Years later they want to capitalize on the nostalgia and talk glowingly about the thing they quit on, as if they didnt quit because they felt they were better than that haha
I actually Thoth hostel 1 & 2 were pretty good + Roth is not all that bad he still made cabin fever

I like this movie
The Hostel films are the only series of movies where every Protagonist is so obnoxious and instantly unlikeable that I don't care what happens to them.
If anything the Protagonists are so grating that they make the Antagonists seem reasonable.
Eli Roth just doesn't understand how to write believable characters, they always have to be a version of himself.
christ this movie is so bad but 1 & 2 is freaking good and has a strong plot.
Part 3 is trash.
I didn’t even know there was a Hostel 2 and I keep up on horror movies. Shocked there was a sequel much less a third.
I watched this movie for the first time literally the night after seeing Martyrs. So the arguably most gruesome scene, the face peeling, really didn’t do it for me.
Garbage movie, the 2nd one was a let down already.
The 2nd film is arguably the better film of all of them. The production value and cinematography was beyond what the first film gave.
@@joshboy7288 well, more money and better camera work do not equal a better movie. First one had more likeable characters and more tension. 2nd one soley dependant on gore 🤷♂️

Hostal 3 was torture to sit though.....Terrible acting, bad effects, a predictable plot and boring overall. Watched it once, I'd never sit through that again.
I liked hostel 3 better than the first 2 bc it was in the u.s.
