Nice drumming. I'm no drum expert, but think he leans more in the direction of the likes of Buddy Rich rather than Gene Krupa (who is identified so much with this piece). But Davy Tyas seems to have his own style.
It's already been commented to clarify that this seems to be similar to the Benny Goodman arrangement (written by Louis Prima) and not a Glenn Miller piece. I'm not sure which of the two was more popular. I remember Benny Goodman was once on the Johnny Carson show as the first guest and was with his band and did a number. The audience reacted so much that Carson cancelled everybody else scheduled that night on the spot and the ENTIRE show was a Benny Goodman Orchestra concert. Also, the group in this video is absolutely first rate.
Hi Brett The name of the show is Glenn Miller & Big Band Spectacular, however you are absolutely correct; this version of ‘Sing Sing Sing’ is indeed Benny Goodman.
@@nocturnalmusiclover1530 No worries my friend. I actually like Glenn Miller at least as much as Benny Goodman. My father brought me up on all of the Big Band tunes of his youth and I loved every minute of it.
We saw the orchestra this week in Swansea, the solo of the drummer had the audience mesmerized. Beautiful sound all together
Superb isn’t it 😀
WOW!
Just seen them tonight excellent
Very talented musicians.
That drummer speaks, sings and makes you move your feet and much more, they have always been a great orchestra.. 🎺🎷📯🎼✔✔✔✔👍👌

The version of "Sing, Sing, Sing" covered here was actually by the Benny Goodman Orchestra and not Glenn Miller
