My God, I never forgot this song! I am old, maybe too old today, but I have many memories of that time. Today happy and without any regrets! Enjoy your youth, life is short... Kisses from France :)
I'm a bit younger than you I think. My older brother and I used to dance to this back in the late 50s and then we watched American bandstand everyday. We always watched and danced to the music on the show. We were pretty good dancers he and I. When I was little also watched the Dorsey Brothers I believe on Monday nights. Its a shame most kids now don't have great music like this, and yes we had FUN!
This is actually a song about a woman who needs some loving (sex) in the worst kind of way. My favorite line: "it's so rude, to keep me waiting, when I'm in the mood!"
Mis saludos, señor! Yo tengo 62 años, soy veterano de la guerra de Malvinas, toco el clarinete y me gusta mucho este tipo de Jazz. Sin lugar a dudas que la Música une a los pueblos!!!
I’m 70 yrs old now, and when I was in my teens in the 60’s, I found some Glenn Miller records in my parents stereo cabinet, and gave them a listen. Loved the music then, and still do. Reminds me of my late Mom & Dad.😢 Who would ever have believed that I use to sing rock songs from Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf and Moody Blues, and then dance to Glenn Millers Orchestra!!😂
It's 2024 and I am still listening to this great music which makes me so happy. Love it all. I am 80 only due to a leg op I want to cry because I can't do the jive or rock n roll anymore 😢😢

Listening on 03/03/2020! Reminds me of when I was a kid! My dad would put his records on a Sunday, afternoon, break out his clarinet and play! Taught me about big bands.

I'm in my mid 20s now and I actually love Glenn Miller and other big band and swing songs. It, along with Japanese jazz fusion, is very uppity and puts me in a good mood. I'd love to see it live.
Of course, this is not Glenn Miller, and not the same orchestra, but they are excellent. Miller disappeared when his aircraft was lost, somewhere over the English Channel, during World War 2. This modern version of the orchestra have recreated the experience very well.
Great images of WW II. Orchestra playing Glenn Miller at the USO canteen, young GI's far away from home, dancing the latest moves with the local ladies. It was the worst of times and the best of times. We were enduring the darkest period of our history, but could still find some light & happiness amidst it all.
I remember watching a movie on tv about Glenn Miller. It started Jimmy Stewart. It was wonderful movie and it had a huge effect upon me about Big Bands. I loved how nice Glenn was and I always liked this arrangement.
A lot of people want to call Benny Goodman "The King Of Swing" but as far as I'm concerned it is Glenn Miller. I was born in the mid 1950's and have seen the genres of music come. Some can leave like that so-called rap but I'll crank up the volume on Swing and Big Bands...
A great comment below. I am 86 now in 2024 and have sore knees so am in total agreement about not being able to dance at my age but enjoy the band very much. Mrs. Rosa Larsen
When I was in junior high school, our dance band director had played with Tommy Dorsey's orchestra. We played from the original, hand-written arrangements. A real connection with history.

He requested a transfer to the UK to be closer to the troops, and was sent there with the band in mid-1944 where they reportedly performed for over 800K service members.
Six months later he was authorized to take the orchestra to Paris. He was supposed to travel there on Dec. 12, ahead of the band, to make final preparations for them to follow. The UK was hit by some of the worst weather in decades which prevented him from travelling as scheduled. Increasingly worried about the delay, he opted to hitch a ride with a poker buddy who had a personal pilot who was willing to fly despite the weather.
What no one knew was that the plane had a defective fuel system AND that the weather over the Channel wasn't suitable for nonessential travel. Their plane was sighted heading out over the Channel, but never landed in Paris.
Recent research has debunked all of the conspiracy theories as well as the long-held claim that the plane was hit by bombs dropped by returning RAF Lancasters. It's now thought that the plane crashed due to fuel-system failure, pilot error in bad weather, or possibly both. And popular music is infinitely poorer.
