This intensity! This perfection! This isn't music anymore, this is a life attitude. None of the languages on this planet contains a word that could describe this.
I remember seeing this live on TV at the time. Quite an emotional moment for me. Not only that Roger was there, but the performance was so wonderful. Apart from his voice and mere presence, Roger's fairly sparse bass playing is what completes the Floyd sound as it gives more space and what I call a "panoramic" feel. Immaculate and soulful performance from all of them and the absolute highlight of the Live 8. RIP Rick Wright.
I think is the only reforming band performance I've ever seen which does justice to the original song. Blows the Led Zep reformation gig out the water. The thing that makes that solo so gorgeous is the phrasing, I love how every note of what sounds like a classic improvised guitar solo is carefully crafter to link perfectly with the bass notes and drum fills.
Dude, when you are pink floyd and you have played together for many years you don't have those little problems anymore. David Gilmour played that solo better than ever and Nick Mason just took his headphones off to feel it.
nothing is playback..as always there is a musician behind them playing the seconds guitars(you can see him also when they play wish you were here playing the bass) and wright plays the strings at his synthesizer!
