Bigscreen has such a nice feature set, being able to mirror your desktop in VR in a social environment... and the headset has a cool name... Imagine though if Bigscreen got bought by VRChat and renamed the VRChat Beyond, like the Oculus Quest did XD
That's not really a unique thing though in terms of VR headsets. In fact, you could argue that it actually less than whats able to be done right now with virtual desktops that you can also simulate in AR wherever you are without your computer being anywhere near you.
As long as Meta keeps the price of Quest 3 at $500 or less, I’ll be buying it. Affording $1K for the headset then needing to buy every other part needed to play separately, ie controllers, and all that IR lighting and cords etc… I will never be able to afford to get it no matter how small or how much better it is.
Thats exactly why this headset wont do well. $500 is my and many others max price point for consoles/vr. If they don't have a competitive price, they wont have a competitive market.
Absolutely awesome headset, but hard pass for me. Just doesn't fit my use case, unfortunately. It does make me excited for what headsets will look like in the future, though. I think that at worst bigscreen will prove ahead of their time, and at best we'll see people trying to do even more with the small & light form factor.
Why do they say that they achieve 2-3x greater visual fidelity at 28PPD, when crystal and varjor are at 36PPD? Biggest downside is no resale value, as it has fixed custom IPD. I think it was a cost cutting, as it would have been really easy to design a manual IPD adjustment without adding weight. Much like Shiftall did.
If they wanted to cut cost, they wouldn't have made the molded face plate proprietary. Meaning you have to send it in to get replaced instead of just buying say a magnetic memory foam piece for 10 bucks. Who knows how much of that was actually tacked on to the device price.
I'm with you. fixed IPD is a big mistake. You can't even show it your friends unless their IPD coincidentally matches yours. and re-selling is an even bigger headache.... finding a buyer whose IPD matches yours. what were they thinking??

I lovw the idea of such a headset, actually I love it a lot. I play via link cable only and... Yeah, making it more compact and comfortable and with good screens just sounds amazing. The controllers and light tracking are more of a detergent, I didn't have much experience witb base station stuff, so I can't really say how comfortable I am with it
Base stations are still by far the most reliable tracking solutions, although Quest Pro controllers are very close/identical to their tracking quality. The problem is that sometimes you need to RMA your base stations and Index controllers, especially Index controllers if u use them a lot, they just don’t last that long, durability is worse than Quest controllers from personal experience. You can even find videos about how many pairs of index controllers those RUclipsr went through. Also space is important for base stations setup, sometimes you need 4 if u want absolutely the best tracking( my friend got 4 just to play pop 1 and he told me 4 is the best for his use cases.)
@@森里螢一-f3c I know most of these to be honest. It is the nicest tracking, but you have to RMA the stations and controllers constantly, which is impossible considering I will have to RMA it through like two different companies because items from US simply don't ship here, nor from anywhere else. And it would be nicer if they had their own controllers or stations, because you have to source them yourself from wherever without the possibility of buying the whole pack. I know that that's most of the base station headsets, I just want some alternatives to this constantly breaking Valve's thing
When standalone headsets get as small as the BB, then i'll be impressed P.s If the Pimax is at the highest point then what the eff is at the worst end if the Quest 2 is in the middle??
no it doesn't. It's custom made for YOU. Most people don't share headsets. If they do they give people a quest or in this case, they would plug in the headset they're replacing. I.E. an index or vive.
Well I like the small formfactor, but don't like that I'ld have to get basestations, controllers and move my pc to my playroom. So no. But.... I do think that maybe at the moment the Quest 3 comes to the market, ByteDance might come with a new Pico5 with those micro led lenses and make an even smaller headset than the Pico4 is. I don't think Meta will come with that soon and certainly not the Quest 3. So.... I start saving some bucks for the next gen headsets if they do provide more comfort and quality. But no, it will not be the Bigscreen one. If I had all the basics though, I might consider that headset. Consider? It would be crazy not to buy one.... 😊
The BsB is cool and all but for the price and other required purchases it's just kinda too much. I do PCVR more then I do Standalone but getting this would also mean going wired. I think it's too niche. I don't think it's gonna do well. That's just me though.
Mysticle, please 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏, could you contact Meta and suggest multiple controller pairing, at least two pairs. This should be an essential setting for people that own multiple VR accessories. Specially now that they want to advertise the headset as a fitness device. Please, ty
So this Bigscreen headset only works for higher end iPhone owners who have LIDAR face scanning - because very few (if any) Android phone owners have a way to do 3D face scanning... To quote their page... "After you pre-order your headset, we'll email you to begin the 3D face scanning process. This requires an Apple iPhone XR or newer, as the face scan utilizes the TrueDepth sensor. Our software generates a detailed sub-millimeter precision 3D mesh of your face in order to achieve a perfect fit." Pass. If I have to get an iPhone to make this work, I'll just get the Apple VR Headset and bypass the middleman.
I find it annoying that some VR headsets are so underpowered that they need a whole PC to support them. First, I, like 15-20% of computer users, do not run Windows PCs. I use Apple - the whole integrated ecosystem: desktop, laptops, iPhone, iPad; watch. They all work together extremely well. Second, the state of current technology means that standalone headsets can be great. You do not need to be tethered by a cable that gets in the way. I use my desktop for storage and can download or stream to my Quest 2 headset via WiFi. However, I want better resolution and better fov, which I am willing to pay for. (Although business prices are a bit too high for me.) Apple are producing their own headset, which is likely to be high spec but more expensive than Meta Quests, which are subsidised by selling data about you. (Apple don’t do that.). I may make the switch…
I’ve owned both PC and Mac systems…and deeply invested in IOS ecosystem too, and you’re right if Apple is going to release a HMD this year…it’ll blow big screen beyond away by even higher specs with M2 chips( monitor replacement by itself), if we need to pay thousands of dollars for a “ high specs” HMD, Apple is definitely a better choice.
@@森里螢一-f3c Yeah not to mention the time, developers and money Apple have will blow it out of the water. Such a great device but they have failed and it's DOA with the cost of the base station and controllers and not to mention what apple will have made by the time this comes out. I hope I'm wrong but it's for sure doesn't look good. It makes the quest pro look like a good deal lol.
This new headset sounds great... But I think the tradeoffs make it not ready for prime time. No wireless pc connectivity? No headstrap battery? No inside out tracking? I don't think this will gain any traction as a mainstream device. Custom made doesn't work (for me) either. No headset sharing? Can't let my kids use it. That will limit its useability to many. The technology is getting there.
yeah ... NO.... its a deal breaker that it only has a 90 degrees field of view ...the fact that is not wireless ... doesn't have inside out tracking ... doesn't have foviated render ... Other than having a better resolution is not a significant bump to make ppl jump ahead and buy it ...
Besides the SteamDeck APU being hopelessly underpowered to drive a 2.5K HMD, the Bigscreen Beyond requires stationary Lighthouse base stations, meaning it will annul all the portability benefits of the SteamDeck. While it is possible to use the Deck for some low performance/low settings VR with e.g. a Quest or Rift S on the go, something like the Nreal Air as a mobile large screen display for regular games makes a lot more sense as a SteamDeck companion than any VR HMD.
If i had money itd be perfect for me since im disabled and cant use the other vrs due to their weight. But unfortunately i dont have 2k outta pocket and something like that would take years for me to save for. So ill just have to continue laying on my bed day in day out like i have for the last 5 years depressed af because i aint got no maidens lmao
For some reason, ever since V49 came out, the graphics on my quest 2 have been looking… weird… like, the lighting isn’t smooth anymore. It looks ugly, and I hope V50 fixes this
Is the new VR headset also AR or does it not have cameras to show you the outside world? If not, that would just mean I would have to buy a separate device to integrate the best of both worlds. AR is going to be way bigger than VR imo as we get personal AR spaces in our houses. Bigscreen also makes you get the face plate customized to the shape of your face. While this may seem good, it's built INTO The device and I'm sure we all know that face plates for these devices gets dirty and worn out quickly. Meaning you will have to send the device back in to get it replaced. That makes the device not only cost more, but makes the face plate unique to them, forcing us to replace it through them only for whatever price they want. Making the face plate removeable and memory foam would cut down on the cost, make it replaceable by the user and make it a fraction of the price to replace. It makes me wonder where the 1000 price tag really comes in at. They had to spend a ton of money on the ability to just make and replace that one part, tacking on a huge sum to the end user price. While the stats do seem very nice and it is very light, if it doesnt have any of the above mentioned, its going to be a niche product at most or it's going to make a lot of people angry when they realize how limited it really is. It also makes me wonder if to combat this, if they'll make cameras useable to feature in AR which would make it limited to wherever you have the cameras set up. I'm not saying this device isn't going to be great for VR. But for the price, you can get a lot more from other devices and while those devices might not have as high of resolution, thats going to be changing very quickly.
Great comment. it was mentioned by others but the fixed IPD & fixed face plate make it a resale-able nightmare unless Bigscreen will give the new buyer the choice of having the IPD re-calibrated & re-faced?.... at even more cost to the consumer.
@@mackychloe Yeah I was wary as soon as I heard that we'd have to have our face scanned for the thing before it's sent to us. Really just seems like a total nightmare.

Keep your money for the near future, the next set of tech will be coming after the psvr2, also dont go for the quest 3, without ipt, I won't be developing for it, there's no official yet, Linux is the next platform im targeting standalone vr builds towards, 64bit soc. Sorry I can't say more :( also thank you mystical, your information and format is fantastic ^^
1k for bulky glasses lol, I like pc vr coming back. Not gonna spend the same amount on a high-end standalone vr for glasses with a cable and screen.
Exactly.
but you could always resell them... oh wait
When standalone headsets get as small as the BB, then i'll be impressed
P.s If the Pimax is at the highest point then what the eff is at the worst end if the Quest 2 is in the middle??
I don't think the spectrum he mentioned was "best to worst," but rather "biggest to smallest."
@@ReavoEnd I'm gonna watch again & pay more attention lol
major down sides for the bigscreen vr headset: no native controllers. also fully wired. i kinda got addicted to wireless pcvr with the q2.
I just wish that "headset" had a battery and wi fi
If it did or if someone makes a combo device to do that for this it'd be perfect
I want it
The reason they want you mapping your room is because it's training an AI (just a guess). Also, the bigscreen headset really needs IPD adjustment
no it doesn't. It's custom made for YOU. Most people don't share headsets. If they do they give people a quest or in this case, they would plug in the headset they're replacing. I.E. an index or vive.
i’m guessing that MicroOLED =/= MicroLED 😅 I was so confused for a moment
I am getting the psvr2 soon hopefully. I think I'll stick to vr I can use. Lol
This will be amazing once you remove the excess plastic weight.
it's kinda like tradition for me to watch your videos on VR.
I am willing to put 1000$ on light weight wireless inside out tracking custom headset only
if quest is max 800$, im gonna buy it
The BsB is cool and all but for the price and other required purchases it's just kinda too much.
Please, ty
i will never have the features (again, i still dont have tha camera settings, and yes i got the interface update if your wondering -_- I hate meta)
Hello there Mysticle :D
Thank you for the information! :~))
See!! Size doesn't matter!
doors have been here for a while, at least for me ig
With both this and the PSVR2 using OLEDs, it is going to be super disappointing if the Quest 3 comes out without OLED.
nice, love the updates
phone compatibility and pc, powered by brick. dreaming here
What country r u from
Leggo coffee in hand ☕️
Im still needing the virtual bed how is that they added plants first 🙄
Yeah I can't see how plants were more important than a bed 😂
@@TheMysticle for some reason they most think that we don’t use it at our bedrooms
Our software generates a detailed sub-millimeter precision 3D mesh of your face in order to achieve a perfect fit."
Pass.
(Although business prices are a bit too high for me.)
Apple are producing their own headset, which is likely to be high spec but more expensive than Meta Quests, which are subsidised by selling data about you. (Apple don’t do that.). I may make the switch…
Kill kill
It's called PCVR for a reason lmao
Prove that Apple doesn't sell information; maybe they give it away to their Chinese manufacturers.
FPS vr on sidequest try it AR early gold
This new headset sounds great... But I think the tradeoffs make it not ready for prime time. No wireless pc connectivity? No headstrap battery? No inside out tracking?
I don't think this will gain any traction as a mainstream device.
Custom made doesn't work (for me) either. No headset sharing? Can't let my kids use it. That will limit its useability to many.
The technology is getting there.
While the headset is cool, I'm never going to buy it tbh
The price is kinda a deterrent
But it's pretty cool I guess
yeah ... NO.... its a deal breaker that it only has a 90 degrees field of view ...the fact that is not wireless ... doesn't have inside out tracking ... doesn't have foviated render ... Other than having a better resolution is not a significant bump to make ppl jump ahead and buy it ...
what word was banned??
It's just a joke of everyone overusing the word insane in the RUclips space and multiple users getting pissed 🙂
Big screen headset and stream deck combo? Someone run test
It’s great, awesome shape, except it’s not so great
i dont have a vr headset but i love ur videos!
the new vr has smaller fov than the quest 2 :S
Were you paying attention to the video? The face cushion is magnetically attached, easily replaceable and swappable.
Fash mesh is replaceable.
@@ReavoEnd The video ive seen has it molded into the piece. If it is magnetic, thats great but that still leaves you with a whole host of other issues like the inability to use AR which is going to be one of the biggest things coming into 2024 and after. Here is the video.

I really like you and your content. But that outro music is brain rape my friend, I think you robbed me twenty IQ points since last time I mentioned it.
Last time I tried changing it the community got very angry 😭😭
I love tiny technology
YES
I want this so bad
An otherwise awesome headset made unavailable for most due to its price tag and lack of controllers/tracking.
I really don’t understand this trend, and the hype surrounding it.
Need an Iphone to do the scan.
Masz tak dobry angielski że ciężko zauważyć, że jesteś z Polski.
This channel is a Meta spokesman channel aint it? Or is it a VR enthusiast channel.
It just so happens meta is at the center of VR right now. But I don't only speak about Meta, and trust me, I criticise them, quite a bit. So I would like to think of it as a VR enthusiast channel. Most of the titles include a quest or something Meta, however the videos themselves aren't just Meta 🙂
PC VR only, good.
With no controllers, no ability to transfer to other users, having to be tethered, etc., it's a no for me.
