@@aesserafim585I don't know hybe as a whole but somu is actually in red up until last year
According to news the actual somu is supposedly under NJ director but as she build ador staff and trainee from somu moves to ador and somu rebuild with no trainee nor money thats why the contract for 2 izone member moves from bighit to somu
Hypothetically perhaps the one that supposedly debut first was NJ as it was originally under somu while sakura and chaewon in bighit but as we already known somu is empty house that on deadline to sell something so they haphazardly assembled the group packaged everything they can in less than 6 months, they fact they managed to leap this far is because the Fandom was loyal and whilist i feel both grateful and angered for that
But they really need to back to basic ,good opportunities come the company no longer in red just pushed back the next comeback to next year when hopefully they really ready

It'll be really hard to see them come out from this. What they should do was take a break, the excuse was tight schedule wasnt it that hinder them to get proper vocal lesson. Fix that schedule and comeback when they're ready. Putting out that statement was foolish damage control, many well established artists have expressed regret even for the smallest mistake on their performance. They should just lay low and practice if they want to prove haters wrong

The standard for singing in kpop is much lower than the standard for dancing. Honestly, when I first joined the kpop community, I was shocked to hear the kpop artists call themselves singers. Yes there are singers amongst them, but they are mostly performers that release music. And personally I'm fine with it. After all, it's not only happening to kpop : it's a worldwide phenomenon. The music industry is just less and less about having good vocals.

If you are a fan or at least familiar with Jpop then you will know that this is common in Japan, especially groups under the LDH agency, all of their groups do not have to be able to sing or are required to sing, one group has a minimum of 7 people or can be more but the singer only 1 or 2 people and the rest are just performers and honestly I really enjoyed it and it was very entertaining, I don't know if kpop fandoms are too toxic or what to demand that all their idols must be able to sing well, their agency should be the one to blame, not their idols, that's why sometimes I'm sick of kpop fandom.

If they care so much about vocals then they should go and harass other GG where the members cannot sing because why do you think the visual position exists? Do you know how many groups have a member that cannot sing or is just a visual and attracts many people?
But look, those fans are not harassing other idols.
So why hating only on Sakura?
Actually I dont want you to hate other idols just trying to prove you something. Because hating on another idol is toxic.
Let her improve in her own pace. She has already improved in korean, dancing and stage presence. She has a naturally shaky voice so she will not improve in one day. Give her time and stop hating.
But even at coachella she was so stable so why not praising her? So why just choosing hate?
I cannot imagine myself wstching a video performance of my non favs and then commenting something bad and also dead threats becuase why not
How can somrone be this toxic?
And these people who are hating on her and LS dont rwaluze they are BULLIES.

Half of SNSD can't belt notes, Wonder Girls debuted with Sohee who can't sing, half of After School always lip synced. Kpop has always been about showing different concepts, showing cool choreo, and cool music videos. So why are vocals being focused on now? As a Fearnot (fan of le sserafim) I have to agree that the girls have to improve their vocals a lot and take the constructive criticism they've been receiving to improve themselves. But guys, there is a thin line between healthy criticism and bullying/harassing. At the start of this whole scandal things were a little in control and I supported the people who claimed that the girls needed improvement in the vocals, but now as time has passed, they are literally harassed and bullied online and getting death threats. In fact, if you did not know Eunchae's( the youngest member who is 17) parents/relatives addressed the hate she was getting and they were NOT HAPPY. I cannot imagine what the members might be going through because they are still quite young, especially Eunchae, who is a minor. I understand the group has not been doing great vocal vice, and the Coachella performance was not the best. Still, at the end of the day, we need to remember that they also have feelings and emotions, and they are humans, and at the end of the day it's just for our entertainment. And you shouldn't bully them because of their vocals because it can cause depression or serious mental health problems for all 5 girls. If you do not like their vocals, writing a small and healthy constructive criticism towards them is okay, but what's not okay is to comment crap, and if you still are bothered, then just ignore, no need to express ur hate towards them publicly, safely keep it to yourselves. And we should all make sure to reference their improvements, such as Coachella week 2 (I personally like it, but you might disagree) it was way better, and they sang live most of the time and it was more stable than week 1, but ofc more improvement is required.

I’ve been a Kpop fan for about 8yrs now and I still find it mind blowing that Kpop idols are quite literally made to grovel at knetizen’s feet for even the slightest transgression. While I realize the culture in Korea and Asia is very different from America since in Korea an idol’s fan’s hold immense power over the idol’s career… still… it’s kind of disturbing tbh how they can turn on idols on a dime. You would never catch an American or maybe even international artist (depending on the country) “begging” for forgiveness from fans for dating, singing off-key, or getting sick. The power dynamics is completely reverse here. Really interesting.

Korean here and you are absolutely right. Kpop idols may have far more international fans by numbers, but knetizens opinions carry the most weight. An idols career begins or ends with knetizens. Koreans typically don’t comment on youtube, but when they do, its dead serious. Le sserafims coachella performance is one the most criticized situations I have seen, it was even on korean national news. I am very concerned about their future in the music industry.

You'd have to watch documentary videos about AKB48 and its sister groups. The one by Ploopy678 (a K-Pop fan channel) is a really good one.
To make the story short, AKB48, their sister groups, and similar groups like theirs, were never about technical skills, it was always about entertaining and winning fans (like this video said). Members, if interested, take vocal lessons independently. (Takeuchi Miyu is a good example)
The term "idol" in J-Pop is completely different from the "idol" term in K-Pop. They're not the same.
I'm not defending Sakura or anything, but she has to realize that things K-Pop idols do are not the same is in Japan. I thought she learned all that from being an IZ*ONE member but I guess that's not the case.
The new J-Pop girl group ME:I, the winners of PRODUCE 101 JAPAN THE GIRLS, have better, fresher vocals than LSM altogether. None of them came from AKB48 or its sister groups, but 2 of them came from other J-Pop girl groups (Angerme, Girls2), who have better and stronger vocals than the 48 groups.

Idk, I never cared to learn their names or anything, so when I watched some Coachella videos I didn’t have a bias. I was expecting something worse tbh, but there were moments when it was just bad, and I thought the one with the long hair was doing really poorly. Oc I don’t jump into conclusions and just left it like that without commenting or anything, but now I see that others think the same… but tbh I think their songs aren’t written to be musically that impressive. Idk I just don’t like the group and their concept in general, so maybe for me, them singing badly isn’t that big of a deal.
According to the story told in this video, she doesn’t have so much experience, even if she’s been an idol for long. It is a very curious case of someone who became popular only because of her charisma but now has to prove skills that she never had in the first place. That is just cruel and impossible. I blame the company for making her debut like this. Was it because they wanted a popular idol? It wasn’t required of her to be a good singer to be in her original Japanese group, so that was fine. And the second group was formed based on popularity, which made it make sense that she debuted there. But for a more serious group formed by a company they should’ve been more selective with the skills, or at least trained her better and for more time. Really, I don’t think it’s her fault, when she has been praised all her life just for being likeable, to a greater degree than we will ever understand. I don’t excuse her bad response to criticism, but I do see how it has got to this point, and even that response makes sense given her experience with fans in the past. Instead of having to deal with it in public they should try to help her re-learn skills that she needs as an adult idol. Singing, dance, rap and manners. That takes time. But the way things are with Hybe right now, I doubt they will give them the time that the group (not just Sakura) needs. Money before everything, right Hybe?

What's more ironic is that they are in the same agency group and their toxic respective fandoms insult each other.

If pretty girls who can only dance well gain excessive popularity, other singers who have worked hard to improve their skills will feel a sense of deprivation and eventually only "pretty dolls" will remain in the music market.

@kkurakisseverybody hey! no problem, I watched both days on the livestream. Seems like a lot of people were saying that they didnt hear them sound that bad if you were there in person, so i can only assume that through the livestream we were getting feed directly from their mics and it was much more noticeable. In my opinion, they seemed to have great energy on stage and really engage with the public on the first day, but the vocals were very unstable throughout and at times really, really, REALLY bad on the livestream. The type of bad that is earsplitting. On the second day, they were less energetic but still had good stage presence & they seemed to have more awareness of their shortcomings and were trying to focus on their vocals so they pulled through. They obviously had help from having less choreography and using a supporting backtrack which i think is fine, they should adapt their performances to the stages and Coachella is no MAMA. I dont like the pitch-corrector/autotune they used on their mics though, it makes them sound totally robotic and wrong. And although the backtrack can be used to support their live voices, they overused it and at times it was purposely too loud in order to cover the voices of some members. All in all, i think they weren't ready for Coachella yet and should have a lot more live singing experience before going to a festival like this but kudos to them for going up there on stage the second day and doing their best, im sure it was very difficult

First of all, that scandal was heavily blown out of proportion(as with any topic in kpop) and tooken out of context because her popularity naturally agrevate non-stans. I mean, there's that whole "It Girl/Boy" title being thrown around to the most popular of idols and get overly scrutenized, bashed, and criticized even for smallest of flaws or mistakes for the sake of just to drag their name across the mud.
Second, that was way way way back in the day, she was literally a teenager.............because she's an idol, because she's popular, because she was the center of attention that she's not allowed to make mistakes? It wasn't even aimed towards Meru herself but rather the costume that she was made to wear. Another missing detail was they are friends and can't friends joke around knowing it didn't have intentions to cause harm. And it's not like it was on a regular basis or that it was a reflection of the entirety of who she is as a person. I've personally done a lot of questionable & stupid things back in my younger days that I regret looking back at it nowadays but it did shape me to become a better person that I am today.
Lastly, the construction of your reply clearly just have nothing but hateful intentions that says that much about who you are when it comes to judging people; you only base a person's overall character by one single mistake(that had no real deregatory intentions but rather a joke among friends) even when it was at an age where mistakes & mishaps are a common occurence for many ppl.
*Btw, clearly you haven't watched and read what idol colleagues, staff members, and members say about her nowadays..........they all adore her, happy to be with her, and say nothing but praises toward her(except when it comes to singing but that's an entirely different topic that I can't & won't even try to cope cuz there is nothing much if any to justify ngl).

One hour a week is enough to get you going and get the basics, and the good part is that you can always do the classes online if necessary. She hasn't gotten better because she doesn't want to, simple as that. The hate is unnecessary, for sure, but the criticism is 1000% valid.

It's kind of sad. I don't follow the group or knew Sakura's backstory, but I keep seeing people say '10+ years in the industry'. If she started at 13 and hasn't had the rigerous training schedule of Korean entertainment industry until 2019, and from it sounds like she had very little training before debuting in izone & Le Sserafim, isn't it unfair to always bring up the 10 years bracket? Not saying the criticism is unjustified, just saying that just focusing on a number is not right considering the circumstances and training differences for Jpop idols. Not to mention that she likely had very little time to train after she already gained popularity which formed a busier schedule as opposed to being a trainee.
It's up to her entertainment company to prioritize her skills rather than taking advantage of her existing fanbase and debuting her quickly. Clear money grab and now the one suffering the most is Sakura and her Le Sserafim members.

My opinion is that the only people artists have to apologize for is their core fans and only for things that they did to sabotage their relationship. You never see an artist like Taylor Swift apologize to haters who dislike her music or Billie Eilish or Kanye West never apologizes if they have an opinion that others hate.
The problem is that people think if they have an opinion, they are due a response (or an apology). Sakura has always been who she is. It's not like she deceived Le Sserafim fans withe the promise that she was some fantastic singer/dancer/rapper, she's always been at the level she has been at and if FEARNOTS are okay with that, there is no reason to apologize. Non fan will rarely buy their CD, merch or attend their live events, so why do they think they deserve an apology?
I'm a casual listener of LE SSERAFIM but not a fan, but I remember back in the day when a member of a GG I was a fan of (Sandara Park of 2NE1) was criticized for being a pretty face that could not sing or dance and that she should quit. She was personally affected by the attacks (yes, things never change) but I don't recall her ever apologizing for existing in 2NE1 because we, the fans, loved her.
There was one group I didn't like at the time (Girls Generation), who I thought was given a lot of passes based on their looks and physique with "SM privileges" but my thing was, I don't like them so I won't listen to them. I'd never get on a message board and demand they apologizes for things I didn't like about them.

You can watch a video titled 'Girls Generation Music Video vs LIVE Sing' which showcase their vocal. But the way Sakura said she just wanna make it a "fun stage" is such an excuses, did she think coachella is a school performance for funsies or what? She act as if singing is not important, maybe that's why she is the way she is now being in this industries in such a long period with that mindset. At this point the valid criticism is negligible as compared to the death threats they have been receiving. Multiple comments like " imagine if ( any girl grp ) grp did this how much hate they would get " were used to justify the hate train against them, which is such a shame.
Their 2nd day Coachella performance was also nitpicked like as if they were the first ones to use backtrack or if its a crime to do it. I also believe that Korean netizens were not the ones to hate their performance since it was an AMERICAN MUSIC FESTIVAL and not there music bank or Korea's Got Talent. American audience PRIORITISES energy and stage presence and i think they delivered in that. Although for the sake of their mental health and to gain confidence in their performance it would be better to improve on their vocals as well.

vocal lessons can only take you so far....you need to have a feeling for music to be a good singer, an idol and a singer are not the same

The statement at 4:28 is said to be about Sakura, but why does it have Chaewon's name at the bottom of it?

everything is understandable, even if she didn't receive vocal training, she can restart her training and improve now! Like even JIMIN restarted his vocal training while producing and promoting his solo album, JUNGKOOK keeps on training his vocals and has been improving even if they are legit the most successful KPOP GROUP. HYBE can be shady af but they have lots of resources to train their artists. It's high time now that she takes things seriouslyyyyy and restart again. KAZUHA and YUNJIN are still training and participating in collabs to improve. It can be clearly seen!!!
