    Thank you Sifu David for bringing froth using legs in Wing tchun, which is mostly asociated with hand terchniqures. As in any other martrial art are important to STOP the opponent, further to distract his attention, and more to attack the sensitive points that come within reach as a function of distance and angles. The three , however are for three different levels of students. I would only instruct beginners to start with stoping or distracting kicks, and running away. Delivering kicks to the body reduces the distance, which makes you vulnerable! Body kicks require better coordination of hand and leg techniques often performed in a rapid flow or even simultaneously, things a beginner cannot manage. Best regardsPaul, 67, retired instructor of Karate.

    Thank you for the demonstration Sifu David.
    The one thing I would add is the importance of pivoting your planted foot for proper body alignment and balance when retracting you kicks. This pivot also adds power as you are adding the hips and hamstring muscles.
    I have always used a pivot action when performing even short snap type kicks.

    Thank you David for don't take me so I practice on kicks and they really do work for long distance also for a short range is good to rotate your kicking on left and right sides because the style of Wang Chung should be balanced in styles with kicking ability it's very important the martial arts special in Wang Chung is short range of long range both legs should be coordinated and should be even sometimes it may be off that's why it's so good to practice different types of kicking

    That guy assistant is nice ..he can kick you butt if he wants it.... because you live in an illusion of movies..... self-respect is based on courage and determination... emotions and feelings.....then you learn to use you limbs in a correct alignment through power speed without using any style...what am saying....free yourself of trick like pak sao...or tan sao...but to create yourself molding what really work for you.....

    • @hoaxialcable

      @@frequencyexpert Totally agree, but I actually found the detailed answer (it comes from Sifu Sergio so credit to him); Ip Man apparently did not teach the tan gerk or bong gerk in his school (this would make me pretty confident in saying he didn't incorporate chi gerk either). They were added and incorporated into Wing Chun by Wong Shun Leung.

    If you are not that flexible then just get flexible, it takes time but you’ll get there. It’s not a case of either you got it or you don’t.
    A year ago my legs were so damn right, I hurt to do just the basic stretches, now I can do full splits and everything because I put in the consistent work.
    Always off putting when I hear about how martial arts instructors are not flexible.

    The first kick is called dem gerk as it’s a direct not a deflection so it not a tan gerk. The second kick is a jik gerk not a side kick. The last kick is a heavy leg fung gerk. The “bonus kick should be a ty gerk and you could keep it the same effect using a wing chun kick.

    your hips and overall position is wrong. The first kick you show with your hips not facing your opponent your structure is weak, hence no power in those kicks. In the second kick, the side kick, you almost lost your balance. If the guy was really rushing in you would fly away....bad wing Chun

    • @shiyongshuomingshu
      @shiyongshuomingshu 5 лет назад +1

      @Zulu we want warp ! wrong. And the legend that was created by a woman, because no one knows for sure its origin (someone says ti developed from the white crane) was mostly spread by Ip Man because his wing chun was refined, with some "internal" aspect and appearently, looked gentle. But no, wing chun kicks, if you know the mechanics (also the internal part) are very powerfull...

    • @shiyongshuomingshu
      @shiyongshuomingshu 5 лет назад

      @Zulu we want warp !😂 you already show how ignorant you are with your previous statements. As i already told you the origin of wing chun is unclear. It is a legend (check the dictionary if you dont know what it means) that was mostly spread by Ip Man. Bong Sao, for instance is very similar to a hand you do in the white crane, hence some scholars believe wing chun developed from white crane.啊对了,我是中文系毕业的, 我大学专业就是中国历史。那么现在你可以滚回去吧

    • @sergiobatista2272
      @sergiobatista2272 3 года назад +1

      @Mei JingWomen (and men) can take power in many ways...and women (and men as well) don't need much power or strength to defeat any opponent...you just need to be intelligent and a good strategist. For example if you are small and skinny and fragile, use body armor (now you can be stryked by the opponent and you won't get hurt) if you lack physical strength use hidden weapons (ou not hidden)...you can use a sharp metal object on your shoes, and now you can kick very efficiently with no effort at all...see? It's easy as hell to defeat anyone.

    • @sergiobatista2272
      @sergiobatista2272 3 года назад

      @Mei Jing OK... If you want to defeat dangerous and powerful opponents with bare hands, my suggestion is that you practice internal force martial arts...like Tai chi, PA kua (or Ba Gua), and so many others...that use qi gong / chi Kung power. Wing Chun also has chi Kung work (at least a little)...but you have to have lucky to find a good master to teach you that...and you have to be rich in order to have all the time to practice that, and it can take many decades to achieve some internal power (chi power). Search for The martial man channel on RUclips, he has some interviews and demonstrations with some Chinese masters (apparently) and it can be a good start. I prefer to use strategy over good physical body and special powers...because strategy wins over everything.

    • @sergiobatista2272
      @sergiobatista2272 3 года назад

      @Mei Jing never heard an explanation like that...but ok. I don't know what to say more. But I believe that a woman can be as good fighter as a man...she will have to fight slightly different, but equally effective...offcourse a woman could never win in a sport fight against a man (like mma and ufc, etc) because it has rules that only favor the brute force and the bigger fighters...but women can win in a street self defense fight or in a Mortal Kombat fight between life and death...but she must be good at combat, intelligent, emotionally detached, and a good strategist.

  • @danoesq2

    I would pick my knee up and thrust out for a side kick which is way more powerful.Just putting your leg up will not stop someone.

    • @roraldvasquez1185
      @roraldvasquez1185 5 лет назад

      I prefer tan geuk because you can control him using your hands and the the philosophy of wing chun "The close combat". You can stop him plus combo him, that was solid, i always do that combination with tan geuk, simultaneous chop and tan sao, 💕💕💕

    • @BlatentlyFakeName
      @BlatentlyFakeName 3 года назад

      A leg in to the knee like this will definitely stop someone, but only when they are advancing.
      Side kicks are used a lot in karate but they are not a defensive technique there. In karate you kick high at the body and head, even jumping and kicking to get height, you put a lot of force behind them and it takes a lot of skill to mess it up. In wing chun kicks are defensive.

  • @mikehunt9884
    @mikehunt9884 Год назад

    a kick is a kick.. you can't say, oh, its ONLY used to stop someone going forward, that is ridiculous, if you can break someone's knee doing the technique, and your life is on the line, then don't mess around. You learn the technique, and then theres 9999999 different ways to apply it, don't set limits like that, it makes zero sense.
