I know . I was in a Record Shop called Sunrise Records and they had this DVD Set and the young man who was managing the store had no idea who they were. When I explained who the Velvelletes, Monitors, Contours, Brenda Holloway, and Kim Weston were he was shocked. He was in his 20's so I pretty much schooled him.
Brilliant girl band one of best Motown girlbands of all time with great songs as good as the Supremes shame they didn't have the same success, they should of
I think another reason that Velvettes didn’t make it big at Motown was that they were the only artists signed that still remained in school/college so that was a main goal for them whereas the other artists were devoted to Motown on a full time basis.
Needle In A Haystack was also covered by The Blossoms that were the backing group on Shindig. It was also covered by The Australian Group The Twilights. They were just as influenced by American Rhythm & Blues as were the brits.
This is great to see even just a little bit more of these clips.. i am so glad these films are gradually coming up to the surface, thankyou for posting them.. And Happy birthday Cal
So many classic performances from so many Shows. One was from Where The Action Is which as you know was like an Outdoor Version of Bandstand while the other was a Show originally called Teen Town in Detroit, MI., that would later be changed to Swingin' Time. A lot of Motown Artists appeared on the Show which was the very first Show that The Miracles did after Shop Around became a Hit, then The "Original" Temptations, Marvelettes, as well as Stevie Wonder.
@@venusclare2519 Loved Swingin Time. Had all the great Motown acts as well as local artists from different labels from Mi. Ran home from school to watch this show with Robin Seymour. Still, love the Songs from the Velvelettes til this day
Hi that would make you Annette's son then :-) I also have your mam in another clip...Batman Theme...Have you seen that one? ruclips.net/video/FoRqWtoeYTU/видео.html
Banarama covered He was really saying something in the early days of their career who many feel kicked the door open for every Girl Group in The UK most notably The Spice Girls
@@alanwilson8407Becasue they said that Banarama influenced them. Don't forget that alot of UK Artists and folks were die hard motown fans. They were very smart in the sense that they knew who the Funk brothers were before the documentary standing in the shadows of motown was released. Also Banarama and Jody Watley were the only females to sing on Do They Know It's Xmas, and when Jody sang in Shalamar and they sang uptown festival, they ended it with he was really saying something.
He was really saying Something was also covered by The UK Girl Group Banarama who are the Group that many feel kicked the door for every Girl Group that came after them from The Spice Girls, All Saints, Atomic Kitten, and the most successful from Reality TV Girls Aloud.
Motown probably put all its energy into promoting other acts because some of these singles are too good not to have hit at least the Top 20 e.g. THESE THINGS WILL KEEP ME LOVING YOU
Are you going to upload the full version of Lonely, lonely girl am I or Should I tell them? I've seen the other 3 would be awesome to see the other 2 in full please X

Venus Clare thank you!
your most welcome....Thankyou very kindly for dropping by and taking the time to comment.
Miss Annette?
DetroitLives313 YES!
Looks like a very talented group of women however Motown did not put the "money or time" into this group.
Saw them live at Wigan casino, they were fantastic,
Thought Martha & the Vandellas were my favorite on the label, not sure now
The Marvelettes my favorite girl group, but Martha and vandellas, the Supremes and the Velvelettes also be good.
Nice.
Happy Birthday Cal Street, hope you had a wonderful day X

The Melody starting at 2:19 sounds like Crystal Blue Persuasion by Tommy James & The Shondells.
Vandalism to put those graphics on that film.
