    I LOVE the ergonomic bump on the Oasis-it's so perfectly balanced and just has great "hand feel", the fact that it's actually lighter yet with a larger screen than the PW (at least the former version) and that it auto rotates the page orientation are completely worth the extra money.

    Thank you for this review. You are the first one to mention the key clicks of the Kindle Oasis page buttons. I like the physical page-turn option, but the clicking is a deal breaker, as I read in bed late at night and my wife would NOT appreciate the tap-tapping.

    The asymmetrical design on the Oasis is one of the pros features.
    I can hold it easily with one hand above my face while reading and turning pages.
    Meanwhile for the same situation mentioned above whit the Paperwhite you have to grab it with expanded fingers that makes fatigue on your hand , and for turning page you have to use the other hand.

      I honestly don’t have a difficult time reading at night with one hand. On either my Paperwhite 4 or 5. I lay on my left side, my right side, my back, however. One hand always under my pillow. I’m trying to think of a scenario where it would be difficult to tap the screen and I’m coming up blank.

    • @doctorbob6791
      @doctorbob6791 2 года назад +3

      Yeah I call BS on this. I had the Oasis and it would be very hard to manipulate one hand to hold the Oasis AND click buttons. However, by holding my Paperwhite in my left hand, it's very easy to reach my thumb halfway across the page and turn ot.

    • @shellyjharris

    • @Laurie-fg4ix

      If you're only tapping forward, then the PW touch screen works just fine. If you need to move easily forwards AND backwards, then one-handed reading on the PW is tougher.

  • @mrcraigface

    I always felt the oasis shape was a compromise for the larger screen… I just feel naturally as humans we prefer symmetry and the simpler design of the paperwhite speaks to me more. Also couldn’t get on board with the cold metal and felt it was too “flashy” in public. I definitely prefer the new paperwhite so far I believe it’s the best of all worlds.
    EDIT: also agree with the buttons making a noise as well as feeling your hand *had* to be in one position the whole time with the touch screen too much of a reach from that position.

    On every Kindle I've owned, (I even own, still have it, the very 1st Kindle that cost $360, lol), since popsockets became a thing, I've used them on my Kindles.
    I even use one on my Oasis, so I don't really hold any Kindle the normal way.
    Plus, I mostly read lying down in bed, holding, via popsocket, my Kindle over my face, so holding any form factor Kindle without a popsocket was annoying, uncomfortable, and eventually fatiguing.
    While I'll miss the buttons to be honest, even holding it left handed, I can just reach my thumb past the margin to tap the screen and turn the page forward, it's what I've always done on Kindles with no buttons, so it's not that big of a deal to me.
    The USB-C and wireless charging are making my decision for me, and are actually more valuable to me than physical page turn buttons.
    Plus with the $75 trade in value for my Oasis, and 20% discount on purchasing this PWSE, ($38), that means that I get this, with ads turned off by default, for only $77, (plus tax of course).

    The ergonomics of the Oasis were actually very good in my opinion. The charging cover entirely takes away the cumbersome aspect of the device that you describe here early in the video. The larger bezel made it very easy to hold one handed because it gave my thumb a very natural place to sit without it getting in the way of the display. I'm not sure how I'll adjust to the smaller bezels of the new Paperwhite, but I'm sure I'll be fine.

    from a reading perspective the new 2021 paperwhite has a big disadvantantage, its the bezel, it is too thin, I mistakenly change pages to often it is more uncomfortable and up to annoying. Thanks for your review!Yesterday I went to an Amazon four-star store and looked at the two devices, and I must say that the new paper white signature edition felt very cheaply made. It's essentially all plastic! I know it's a matter of opinion but, I don't see what the excitement is about this device. When I held the oasis (metal back, with a glass front), it definitely had a premium build feeling, as it should. The oasis definitely allows for better hand positioning. Again after looking at both of them in the store, I would say for those who have an iPad, or any sort of other tablet they just use that! I have a secondary phone which is a Z-fold 2, and I will just use that as my E reader. The experience is great! It's in color, when the phone is fully open the screen size is 7.6 inches. granted the device is a little heavier, but, I felt as though I was getting a more authentic experience with the Z Fold 2 the the Kindle device? Until the devices are made very similar to the oasis I can't see spending 150 or $160 for a plastic device.
    Again thank you so much for your review, as it pushed me to go and see these devices firsthand.

    Great video, concise and to the point. In future videos it would be very impressive if you demonstrated the ipx or water feature by filming what happens when the device is dropped in water submerged or used in the bathtub or pool or how easy it is to clean after a liquid spill at a coffee shop. Would also like to see more outdoor use and indoor use nighttime vs. Daytime and Lighting effects on the device. Lastly it would be really cool to see you weigh each device by placing them on a scale to show metrics and then visually compare them to the weight of something else like a piece of fruit or a comparable physical objects like a book or stack of paper or something to give the viewer and idea of how heavy or light the device is while creating a matrix of pros and cons with a visual checklist showcasing pluses and minuses of what's included while unboxing each version to give us an idea of expectations. When demonstrating the product it would also be nice to see if they fit inside a pair of jeans or back pockets or front pockets or not and to hold it next to a ruler or some type of measurement device and if you really want to have some fun toss in some Drone footage or record the nitpicking button clicking sounds of the Oasis! 😂🎉

      Same the weird shape and the plastic buttons don’t justify the extra money.

    What do mean Ads?? Why would it come with Ads?

    • @FaizAly
      @FaizAly  2 года назад

      Amazon likes to recommend books (these are ads) on the Lock Screen and also in the Home Screen as well

    It's a shame that Amazon gave up so quickly on the battery case that came with the Oasis when it was first released. It increased the stock battery life significantly. Then they split the case off and sold it separately, then discontinued it altogether. Now the Oasis suffers from a too-short battery life. On the plus side (not mentioned in the video review for some reason) is the Oasis' faster processor that allows almost instantaneous wake-from-sleep as well as faster page turns. The 24 LEDs are a bigger deal than the reviewer gives them credit for. Unfortunately, these features come at the cost of battery life and, therefore, more frequent charging sessions (which use of the battery cover easily ameliorated).

    Amazon is greedy as hell. Can't believe it's almost 2022 but still ads is still an option for us. 😃 I will get Paperwhite with ad free or signature edition next year.

    • @FaizAly
      @FaizAly  2 года назад +1

      I understand, but as of right now in the market if someone was to go buy a new Kindle this is the “latest model.” I am only comparing two of the latest models. I am sure a nice Oasis will release later next year
