I kinda think it might be misty palms oasis I agree spirits would be near the portal but the northern portal is in ice and even tho misty palms is in the desert I think its more likely
The thing about this is that the very end when wan redirects the fire is the first instance of "bending". Before there was no "bending" it was merely throwing it out as if it were a rock. Bending is a human term, prior to this the lion turtles refered to it as the Power of Fire. They weren't bending anything, they merely had the ability to produce flame. You cannot call someone a martial artist just because they can throw a punch. The animals the arts come from do naturally hold the power, and are the basis of it, but are not benders. Bending is the adaptation of the element to the motion of humans. All dragons have fire, all badgermoles can move earth, however a human must learn how to bend let alone have the born propensity for it. Wan redirecting the fire was him bending it to his will. It became an extension of himself, an art. Though many had the power of the elements, he was infact the first bender.
Now I understand why the Fire Nation thought so highly of themselves. The first Avatar was a firebender 🔥, so the Fire Nation likely felt entitled to rule the world and end the Avatar cycle.
I don't think that story of the first avatar seen in spirit vision of another avatar was so widely known among people lol. They couldn't tell what really happened 2 generations earlier, like during Kyoshi's trial, or we saw fire nation children being taught false history in their schools but they would know abot Wan? Quite unlikely.
Ironic. They feel proud because the first Avatar was a firebender, and that being the reason they want to END the Avatar. Walking contradictions, the lot of them. A den of hypocrisy.
Also eventually the Spirit half feeds off the human half completely & the guy dies just like the Wood 🪵 spirit hybrid victim that was Wan’s Friend. The up side is that you get the abilities of the spirit that possessed you & don’t need to breath air or eat. Basically gaining partial invulnerability.
It's peculiar Wan redirects the attack from the other fire users. It's very waterbending, what he didn't know yet. I don't know, for some reason always stood out to me, and I kinda can't make sense of it.
The spirits and spirit world of ATLA worked so well with simplicity and subtlety, they were non-hybrid animals, panda, fish, owl, foxes, and a primordial millipede that uses other creatures to have a face... Korra spirit world doesn't sit right for a lot of people because we lose the ominous mystery of the world, we see too much of it, and they try too hard to mimic Ghibli spirits. The designs of random spirits all look awesome! but the Aye-aye is the only Korra spirit that feels like he "fits" with the spirit world established in ATLA.
Aang was gifted Energy Bending by a Lion Turtle so there’s one for that, there’s probably also multiple for each of the 4 main elements, then maybe some for more nebulous concepts like light and dark that we haven’t seen yet
I don’t think their actually immortal, just really long lived, also spirits are the guardians of the natural world, which predation is a fundamental part of.
The animation of these 2 episodes were just incredibly beautiful ✨ A piece of art
Every time I watch the aye aye spirit laugh it extends my life by 3 days.
I like it that the animation makes it look a ink wash painting.
Idk if this where Steven Yeun got his taste for voice acting but he killed it, just like Invincible
What’s interesting is that J.K. Simmons was in both shows too!🎙️
Fr he’s great as Keith in Voltron too
2:30 gave some Spirited Away vibes
I just realized after all this time that the Oasis of the Spirits is likely the Northern Water Tribes Spirit Oasis of ATLA.
I think more likely the Spirit Oasis in the deserts of the earth kingdom
@@WiseOakDakota I'm saying this because there is a portal to the spirit world not far from the north water tribes spirit oasis
@@montanachristeson5364 I am just now remembering that that oasis did become one of the portals at the end of the Wan story, you’re right
I kinda think it might be misty palms oasis I agree spirits would be near the portal but the northern portal is in ice and even tho misty palms is in the desert I think its more likely
Never mind I'm wrong the healing water thing gives it away
I love that Wan objects to the aye aye for getting his name wrong but not for calling him a pet 😆
they don't have pets. foods to scarce. the pet idea is foreign for him.
okay then@@nomadhakunamatata5793
I love the bending animation styles in the story of Wan
Little did the Lemur Spirit know, that this Stinky human would one day become one of his best friends.
Stinky has to be the best nickname ever

Omg he’s GEAR from Static shock!
That’s Jason Marsden he also played Chester in The Fairly Oddparents
He’s also Max, Goofy’s son in ‘A Goofy Movie’ and it’s sequel.
He also voices Tak from Tak and the Power of Juju!

Its ironic how the first avatar was a firebender. Because the Fire Nation tried to end the avatar cycle.
He was actually the first firebender.
Turn out the one that ended up the cycle of Avatar is from water tribes
Fire nation wasn't savage back then
@@ninjadanoite1560 no was not the first firebender
@@ninjadanoite1560he was not the first fire bender. Many have used fire before Wan, they just had to return it to the lion turtles.

The spirits are so cute 🥰
I miss the mystery aspect to the spirits, but now they're like pokemon made cute for fan service or selling toys.

The goat Steven Yeun
So that's how Studio Mir chose him to voice Keith!

> dozens of lion turtles
> avatar wan only got powers from 4 of them
what other kinds of bending do you think there were
probably multiple lion turtles for each element
Well, metal bending is a thing (or invented by toph but who knows-), and so is sand bending, so maybe there were lion turtles for those

I wonder how this world would have been if the humans an spirits would have got along?
“Dozens of them.” Meaning, Hispanic, white, and other cultures could exist outside of the Asian cultures. Also, more bending.
Well waterbenders are very close up to Eskimos and Native Americans.
