I just did a painting of a town scene after being inspired by your wet on wet loose work. I started out loose and loved the effect and now I find I’m back to my style of adding tons of detail…😂
Great advice about the 15 minutes for plein air painting. I tend to use reference photos, mostly my own, for painting. However, that means I often end up painting too much detail and making many mistakes. Too paint fast requires a lot of skill too, especially knowing how to mix the colours and how much water to use on the brush. You make it look so simple and easy, but I don't have the experience or skills yet to produce consistent paintings. It's still lots of fun and I enjoy painting no matter how it turns out, because with each painting I'm learning something new and practising more and more.
Yay! I live in Lachine, yes! In fact, I will be having a master class in La Maison des Arts Rive-Sud October 25th. Check their site for more info: maisondesartsrivesud.org Check my 2021 events: michaelsolovyev.net/workshops-schedule
Dear Yvonne, I understand how it might be far away from Montreal. Keep checking my website for more updates on 2021 events. I usually have a few master classes every year around the island of Montreal!
It looks like a cafe painting with an exotic feel. It’s more cool because it’s watercolor. I saw a good picture. I also paint, so come and enjoy my work. I will come back often and learn~
Thank you for taking the time to respond to all of your listeners who write to you. I am very touched by your kindness, I will monitor the information.
Tua técnica de pintura é única ...os pincéis maravilhosos... a perfeição e o bom gosto imperam ... as músicas complementam a pintura ... fico grata por compartilhar tua arte.
Very good information about paper drying time. Also I really find interesting your thought process regarding “15” minutes, which I have wondered about, because I am very slow at drawing and painting. I really appreciate that within your tutorials you explain very important decisions that you make that less experienced learners like myself don’t do (yet). Thanks for helping me grow! And thumbs up to your adorable son!👍
You’re the only person I’m learning watercolor from! Do you recommend copying your tutorials first and then paint something similar on our own? Or don’t copy at all?
Hi Robert, sorry about that! The channel requires heavy time investment that ads partially remunerate. I am really glad you learn something from watching :)
Loved your explanation on different paper drying time and why to paint in 15 minutes. I tried my first time limit painting and have set goals to speed up. What size is your painting in this demo?
1/4 of imperial size sheet, or 15 x 11 inches, Michele! Setting time targets in good, just remember that the best way to speed up is to eliminate the unnecessary details, thus making the watercolor lighter!
@@watercoloronlinemsolovyev I thought your music selection was very good and I enjoyed it. Other videos as well. Sometimes if I don't like music (not your case), I turn off the volume and use my own music to listen and just watch the painter paint.
@@shoelxi47892 I agree about the music, it's too much in a loop and becomes aggravating and detracts From the l.esson. maybe rotate one song with another.

Very good, enjoyed very much I have much improved since watching your videos. Do you incline your paper or work flat, and do you wet your paper first? Thank you.
Great question, Alain! The slope is 10 degrees in the studio, 45 degrees on plein air. This time around, I did not wet my paper first. Wetting or not wetting depends on the effects I want to get from it.
15 minutes sketching also very important when you are plein air drawing in street and you need to take a leak. My plein air strategy is letting the nearest toilet determines where I draw. No kidding!
Excellent lesson, really enjoyed your explanations on paper and 15 minutes sketch. Do you know where to find Saunders Waterford paper in Montréal or is it only online?
Dear Janie, currently, there is no Saunders Waterford in Montreal, but I do everything in my power to have it on sale on my online store within next few weeks. As I am also located in Monreal, it should be a good deal for you :)
bellissimo. Michael e il disegno? lei comincia a dipingere col disegno appena abbozzato e finito, noi come facciamo a disegnarlo? questa un'altra difficoltà
Your water color is excellent-I tried watercolor, pastels, etc- I decided to stick with oils-subscribed to your channel -hope you do the same-We are not far from each other-both in Quebec
