Well done! A tip: the rams horn exhaust manifolds are cast iron and were not painted! I'd paint them flat brown to simulate rust. Also: the gas tank is in the rear. You can see the 2 straps on it. I'd paint it steel. The thing you thought was the gas tank is just a deep part of the trunk! Plz don't take my observations as criticism! I've removed a few gas tanks in my time! Thank you so much. I am planning a full build video of another car soon...no cutting corners! Probably going to be a multiple part series....helping out a friend...she's a new builder and we have the same model kit.
My dad had a ‘63 409 SS in a dark red colour. It was the show car in the Long Beach auto show for that year. So, as a kid I built just about every 63 Impala kit I could find. I’ve done this AMT boxing a few times I think. You did a great job given the kit has issues. The last boxing I had was somewhere in the 90’s but it had the battery. The exhaust and manifold always bugged me so I would use styrene rod to fix that. Again, nice job. Really love the Impala 409.
Very nice and useful build follow. The Chevy orange engine color seems to be too orange and the transmission should be silver or metallic. You showed how important fitting is. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful! 😎👍🏻, I had the "prestige" kit but for some reason, maybe huge brain fart, I gave it to my brother and he lost it🤦♂️. I'm gonna get me the 4in1 kit back some day.
That was really good Trevor 👍🤩. Very nice build and good tips for improving the details. 👍🤩Thanks for showing and best wishes from jolly old England 👍😎Pete 🤓. I don't know how you can live with floating generators or alternators when it's so easy to punch hole in sheet and make bracket🧐
Thank you Pete! i still have to fix that hood fit. i think it's the radiator cap...but I glued in the radiator. Maybe I can cut the cap down with a #18 chisel blade. I kinda got tired when it came to trying to figure out that battery. Yes, brackets would look good..but I wasn't going for a proper build on this one...just to get it done, especially after the paint was soft for 4 days and that whole Bare Metal Foil application that wasn't going well for me...but it did need those 3 missing parts : Radiator, Firewall and Battery...battery will come later. I am thinking of going more "All out" when I build the advanced custom 4-in1 1963 Impala. this was just the "Test drive" build for the kit.
I was wondering if your kit lacked the chrome hood bar or you just omitted it because you have to do surgery on the high fitting hood? I'm doing the Revell 6682 kit now which does include it. Thanks.
Thank you. I had to wait a week for it to set up. I see that Behr has come out with a spray paint line to match their interior/exterior house paint colors. That palate is HUGE, but they don't have all the colors into spray yet. I am thinking of getting a can sometime to try it out. There is a blue that looks right at home on a 1955 Chevy.
That's the best kind! Did you replace the 63 chassis with the 64? I'm just thinking of the hole in the 1964 engine for the front metal axle as opposed to the plastic pins in the 1963 chassis.
Actually, I do have a selection of the AMT/MPC big rigs and trailers, one of them being the Diamond Rio and the Peerless Logging Truck trailer. Here's the direct link to that page : www.monster-hobbies.ca/Hobby_Products/c103-trucks-service-and-utility-vehicles/
You did a beautiful job on this Chevy, but I have a couple of concerns with the kit...First, those plastic pins they use for the front wheels never seem to look right, they don't really work as well as the metal axle in the original (and Prestige kit) did. Second, the original kit had clear red taillights, which I look for in model kits. With so many kits having those red lights, why couldn't they include them instead of molding them in with the body?
@Monster Hobbies Model Car Garage Back in 1963 I bought the original Advanced Customizing 63 Impala kit and it came with clear red tsillights. I own a friction 63 Impala model and it has red taillights as well
Hey nice video. I'm working on the same build right now and I have a problem putting the wheels. So the manual says I need to insert those little things (number 60)but I cant find them. I've watched your video twice but I can't find them. Also, the wheels spin perfectly, but when I attach the other part of the wheel they get stuck because of the glue. Please help me
Glad you liked the video. I am not quite sure I understand your questions on the wheels. Are you able to make a video and show me what you are experiencing?
Wow....
That glorious gloss paint.
👀👀✊👀👀
Right?!

Thanks for the tip!
I have a few of these kits, so I will remember your input when building the next one.
You did a great job with that junk kit!
Thank you so much Randy!
B.C plates eh?...just subscribed Ottawa here😁
The Ottawa plates can be made on that licence plate web site too! Thanx for subscribing!
Nice 👍
Thank you. I'm glad you liked my build!
Very helpful. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful! Sometimes when I make these videos, I never know how they will turn out.

Thanks for the info!
I was sure that was Chevy Orange, but like I said...the cap was missing.

That might not have been a bad thing. the newer 4-in-1 has the missing parts you need to do the model right.

The AMT 1963 Impala kit kit doesn't include the chrome hood bar. - But I think the 1962 one does.
Very nice 😊 was wondering though why transmission was kept orange, and why no battery?
Needed to alter the battery and I didn't have time. Saw a few images online with orange transmissions. Glad you liked the video.
Biscayne- bis like in biscuit,, cane like in walking assistance. Bis-cane
There you go!!
Thank you. I knew how to pronounce it, but on film, my mouth stumbled. LOL!
@@MonsterHobbiesModelCarGarage just making sure. It's an odd word. Looks strange in the script
@@MonsterHobbiesModelCarGarage by the way. Great color choice and such a beautiful paint job!!
For sure, and not many people use "Biscayne" in daily conversation.

Many years ago I built the amt prestige release, I hated the engine and chassis, so I swapped it from the amt 64 impala
I hope it went in nice and easy!

Good to know it fits straight across.
Do you happen to have big rig logging trucks and trailers. Kenworth maybe. Had one moons ago. Long gone. Love how meticulous you are. Thanks

I'll agree with you on the plastic pins, however, are you sure you're not mistaking the tail lamps for the 1964 Impala?

Do they have the Bigger 63 lmpala SuperSport model Kit
Bigger...as in a larger scale?
The front of the hood seem to fit very poorly above the top of the grill ...
In the video, I explain why this is.
Nice work on a really crappy old kit. Chassis and under hood are REALLY SHINY!!!
Thanks for the view.
