On my 2002 Acura MDX. I tried three different times to program 2 extra IMMO keys (not the newer "smart" keys) and it kept failing; (on my D8). So I tried to add just 1 key so that I could at least have a spare, and it had to pull a four digit code from the car's computer-- which it did just fine. and it Worked! So then I went back in yet again to add the third key (second spare) and it also worked fine. So now I do have three working keys, it would simply only add them one at a time; which was a bit frustrating, but at least I was persistent and figured it out. I also programmed two key fobs-- but I did that by watching a video and doing a silly sequence of turning the key on and off and opening and closing the door three times and hitting the lock button three times, etc. and those worked fine. I didn't even need the scan tool for the fobs.
i talk to a auto lock smith , and he uses the x tool alot .... and a autel im508 ..... he says he xtool does alot of keys , but isnt the best for diagnosing , good for at home use for sure
Out of those two the Autel IM508 is a professional key programmer with some diagnosing capabilities. The xtool is mainly for diagnosing problems with some key programming capabilities.
The ip616 does have key programming abilities but I am not sure if it has the same as the D8. You would have to hook it up and go through the menu and see if it is there.
@@737mechanic it says it works with nissan altima but I was trying to connect to it yesterday for key programming and it couldn't kept failing not sure why? But i have been able to run a diagnostic on my nissan altima and check to see what's wrong with my car and erase some codes
I believe the remote is programmed without a scan tool. At least on a 2011 Tacoma it is. Try this video and see if it helps you. ruclips.net/video/WVnV8QvIJF8/видео.html
Love the Xtool D8BT! I see the app version has updated to 4.35.3_7.89. The last update added topology, I haven't had time to see if this version adds anything new.
I saw another video and I'm scared to add a key cause it ask me to reprogram all my keys I don't want to lose the only working key I have.... I just want to add 2 keys , is it possible to add two keys without unprogramming the only key I have
Used your video to program a fob for a 2016 lexus is300.
Worked perfect.
Thanks
Very interesting, great that the D8 came through!

I have the Launch CRP919E and it does key fob programming just fine also

What if you lost the primary key?Could you still connect a new one
I haven't done it but the scan tool does have an all keys lost function on most cars so more than likely you can.
Ìm about to try that with my D8. Ill keep you posted
@@toethumbmechanics Let me know how it goes.
Thank you for an awesome video.
Are you pressing the brake pedal the entire time, or is it a one-time pres and let go?
I held it.
@@737mechanic thank you for the quick reply.
I did not get the 'Key Programming' button. Did you have to do something to get it to show up?
They have changed the button from Key Programming to Immobilizer.
I have ip616 xtool will this work on 2008 nissan altima its smart key, keyless entry

I have a question for you. With the new current updates that have been made to the D8BT, does it make sense to even purchase a D9?
The only reason to have a d9 would be for the bigger screen and if you wanted module programming on some vehicles you could get the D9 pro.
I have a 2008 highlander without the smart key and I got D7 and wasn't able to problem fob (remote) were you able to program fob key for this yrs

It’s great here and there but not perfect
Will the xtool program keys for dodge with the rolling PIN codes??
I have programmed many keys for Chrysler and jeep vehicles. The xtool has always pulled the pin codes with no problems.
Even the rolling PIN numbers that are 5 digits? @@737mechanic
Does the Xtool D8BT clone a key? Or is this like a factory reprogrammed key?
it will not clone a key, it is programmed to the car like the factory-programmed keys are.

I added only the unprogrammed key to this car without reprogramming the original.
@@737mechanic I tried it yesterday and it failed to connect to my car when programming
Are you sure you didn't get an endorsement check from x tool? it's hard to believe that that would win out over to 431 pro. Lol
LOL, When it comes to programming keys the xtool has been very impressive.
Interesting the launch tools wouldn’t work as they are top notch
I was a little shocked that neither one of the others would complete the process. I kept getting programming failed.
