I have two years clean and sober. These verses changed my life!
    Mosiah 27
28 Nevertheless, after wading through much tribulation, repenting nigh unto death, the Lord in mercy hath seen fit to snatch me out of an everlasting burning, and I am born of God.
29 My soul hath been redeemed from the gall of bitterness and bonds of iniquity. I was in the darkest abyss; but now I behold the marvelous light of God. My soul was racked with eternal torment; but I am snatched, and my soul is pained no more.
    ❤️
I have my family back! I have a church calling in the elders quorum. EVERYTHING you are talking about it EXACTLY what happened to me. By turning to the our Lord Jesus Christ, the prodigal son DOES COME TO HIMSELF AND COME HOME!!
    LOVE YOU!!!

Another great lesson. I am listening from Queensland, Australia. As a mother of an inactive child, who has her own family, has told me that she doesn't believe and that our temple sealing doesn't mean anything to her. She went on to say that she is only worried about her family and living life now, eternity means nothing to her. I have and do pray for her and her family. I pray for my siblings and their families. I am the only member in my family, besides my daughter, and I have been judged, mistreated, and accused of being in a cult. However, the Holy Spirit revealed to me that I will have the desires of my heart. The only desires I have is to see my daughter return to church and to be blessed with an eternal companion. So, I take comfort in knowing that the Heavenly Fatherhas heard my prayers and that he will bless my family. In Him I will trust. 😊❤️🙏🇦🇺

(I think that's more a reflection of my personal growth than a comparison between your guests.) Sister Erickson was no different - her appearance on the podcast felt like "the best one yet!" Thank you so much for blessing our lives so abundantly with your efforts!

Thank you so much for sharing the story, on part 2, regarding those who leave this mortal life after returning back to church.
My dear youngest son passed away last year in 2023 after coming back to church. He was so happy spending over 7 months in full membership until Heavenly Father called him back home.
This is a successful story which is no over because my baby boy will come back resurrected. Blessed be the name of Jesus Christ. God answered my prayers.

Always beautiful and I love how you described that holding faith and holding space for the miracle of redemption for your wayward children is a way for us to become more like God. Because of this, I can see that all the years of waiting and praying for my children to return to church are a privilege rather than a burden, because I have had to hold space for redemption and deal with my own redemption from "wrecking" my children by my own blind lack of development. Just as Alma the younger and the four sons of Mosiah, I cannot bear the thought of any of my children being racked with endless torment or even to inherit a lesser kingdom than the celestial world. I think, "What a waste this life would have been if we don't inherit all that the father hath!"

I even dream about these podcasts. I'm amazed and grateful that my mind does not wander aimlessly with useless thoughts but empowered with the insights to become a better person and I feel very close to our Father in Heaven, Jesus Christ and the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Hank and John, you are so pure and inviting and understanding of challenges of life and never wanting us to feel like hopeless failures. My wife and I have served as missionaries in Mongolia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Egypt, and Morocco and listen weekly to your podcast. It helps greatly as we share insights with the local saints. We have used Mos. 25:21-22 numerous times in training to describe the state of the Church in those countries as it was being establish, approx 30-35 yrs ago to now when we work on creating stakes and refer to Alma 4:4 about 35 yrs later. The Church more “fully” being a Stake w a Patriarch, High Priests quorum, Common Judge, etc. Thank you for doing this.

I am so grateful to all three of you for these insights of the story of Limhi and Alma the older. Each time I read the BOM I think there is so much that I'm missing. You have shown me many things that I have never seen before. I'm pretty darn sure there's even more to see and learn, but I'll look for that the next time around. My testimony of the BOM has been refreshed and strengthened by the Come Follow Me curriculum but getting insights from podcasts such as yours has been extremely valuable. I am just now listening to this even though we have moved forward in the scriptures and Come Follow Me. I am so grateful for the love and tenderness I felt from these 3 when they mentioned parents of missionaries. We just sent our 2nd missionary out and it is a very private bunch of emotions one feels that run so deeply and often lonely. We need community to be uplifting and aware of the reality of sending our children out. It is so worth it but such a hard thing. I am thankful to this lesson and Alma and our Father in Heaven for sending their children on their missions. ❤

There is so much to 'see' and 'hear' and 'know'. I appreciate the focus on Christ and His gospel, not on our own perfection. I love Elder Robbins' message years ago about repentance - Repentance was never meant to be a "backup" plan, repentance IS the plan.

    Hi there,
I listen every week from Sterling Heights, Michigan, a suburb north Detroit.
I wanted to share an experience I had last week. This area has a large Middle Eastern population. As such, the sister missionaries in our ward have been learning Arabic. Last Saturday, I was able to attend the baptism of Noha, an elderly Middle Eastern sister. At the baptism, prayers and talks were given in both English and Arabic. (Noha's native language)!
Noah had fallen recently and was unable to bend backward because of her injuries, but she was determined to proceed with her baptism anyway. A small chair from the primary room was placed in the baptistry for Noha to sit on so that the person baptizing her could help her lean forward under the water. It was successful on the 3rd attempt. I was in tears watching the unwavering faith of this dear sister as she patiently and painfully and joyfully chose to follow the savior exactly on this special day.
As was stated a couple of weeks ago, it's always 1830 somewhere in the church, and sometimes that is right here in America, preaching the gospel in a myriad of languages.

8:54 I know many people wish to have an angel show up but I believe most people’s angel is hitting rock bottom. When you read Alma’s telling he says the angel brought him to know how horrible his actions were. It wasn’t until he “remembered the words of his father” regarding Jesus Christ.
As I have had loved ones struggle I try to always testify of Christ and remind them of repentance.
Alma the younger does the same with his son who had a chastity problem on his mission he teaches him the atonement and repentance.

There might be evidence Abinadi was the angel that appeared to King Benjamin and gave him the message about Christ. King Benjamin’s speech was given 124bc and it’s estimated Abinadi spoke in 153BC 30 years prior.
Benjamin seems to quote Abinadi almost verbatim.
    Abinadi’s words:
"He that persists in his own carnal nature...is...an enemy to God...[and all] shall...be judged...according to their works whether they be good or whether they be evil...and if they be evil [they receive] the resurrection of endless damnation... [But] the time shall come when... every nation, kindred, tongue, and people...shall see the salvation of the Lord...[for] only in and through Christ can ye be saved... redemption cometh through Christ the Lord..." (Mosiah 16:1-15)
    Benjamin’s words:
"The natural man is an enemy to God...[and] at the judgment day...every man...shall be judged...according to his works, whether they be good, or whether they be evil. And if they be evil... they have drunk damnation to their own souls. [But] the time shall come when the knowledge of a Savior shall spread throughout every nation, kindred, tongue and people...[for] salvation can come...only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord..." (Mosiah 3:17-25)
In addition, Benjamin received the plates from Amaleki son of Abinadom. Many speculate Amaleki’s brother is Abinadi due to the similar sounding names and this verse; Omni 1 “30 And I, Amaleki, had a brother, who also went with them;” (the group that went with Zeniff back to the land of Nephi).
Perhaps this family had authority/ stewardship over the plates, people, and king Benjamin?

I would have loved to hear Alma Sr. Prayers to God in behalf of his son. Senior seeing what King Noah wickedness had caused and hearing from his neighbors what his son was doing would have had powerful prayers to the father for his son, he may have asked the church to pray and fast for the wayward children.
I also like to compare the Prophet Alma with the Prophet Eli in Samuel, (the Old Testament) where God cursed he and his family because of the two wicked sons. The difference in the two prophets are the talks they gave to their son. Eli gave a little speech that his boys should fear God while Alma the Senior is teaching his son and praying with much faith in behalf of his son. The Bible say we should raise up a child the way he should go. I would add that we should pray like Alma. ❤❤❤❤❤ 14:13

My thoughts when you awesome people were joking about ordering an angel were... We often use family names when naming our children. We have five kids our oldest, the middle (triplets), and a youngest. All of them have a first or middle name that is from our family history. I felt as this was being discussed that when that name is given from a family line that that ancestor is given a spiritual world assignment of looking after that living relative. WOULDN"T THAT BE COOL! So Alma angel was going above and beyond their spirit world calling!!

I get confused between the meanings of endless/eternal. If endless torment is not necessarily without end, is eternal life really forever?
