"Let Zion in Her Beauty Rise" by Marshall McDonald

We lived around the corner from the Williams' in Sugar Salem. Nate was a young man at the time. We were expecting our 7th child during those years. We had decided that if our child was a boy, we would name him Nathan, Nate, after this terrific young man. We hoped our son would be like him. We moved about 3 yrs later. What a blessing to see Nate again and hear of his love for the Book of Mormon and the gospel. We chose wisely. We're listening now fro Fruitland, Idaho.
From NYC, thank you brothers Bytheway, Smith, and Williams!!!
I was so excited to see brother Williams as your guest. He was one of my seminary teachers in high school. Brother Williams was a huge influence on me. I love brother Williams, and am very grateful for him.
John’s “brace for impact”statement caused me to remember this statement from Elder Maxwell(sorry for the long post) : “Once again the Book of Mormon and modern revelation give us the guidance we need so that we are not taken out of our places by too much concern over what on the landscape of history may after all be a very temporary thing, real and menacing though it may be. In the Book of Mormon is a verse I wish I fully understood, but which I draw to your attention. It is 2 Nephi 28:19, which says “the kingdom of the devil must shake.” It is a very intriguing verse. I do not presume to know what this redemptive turbulence will be like, but it will be such that a few people now caught up in that generic kingdom of the devil will be “stirred up” and find their way out and into the kingdom of God. I don’t know how that will happen, but it will happen. I rather imagine, and this is sure speculation, that there will be in this redemptive turbulence some jarring inconsistencies brought to the fore-jarring enough that they will cause some people who are caught up in the subsets to leave and find the truth. As prophesied in the Book of Mormon, full of portent for Latter-day Saints, there will be real turbulence…”

Thanks for this quote. Also, a big thanks for including the reference. I will definitely go watch or read that devotional.
Maybe we should consider the Book of Mormon as a letter from our Father to us. I find joy in the thought.
Great lesson. I had to re-listen again and again to retain all these mini lessons with each questions. This is deep and wonderful. From Sacramento, CA.
Listening to you guys from Zambia in Africa and just want to say thanks for all you do and my life's better because of your podcasts as I have learnt so much from you and your guests for 2 years now. Great job 👍❤
Thank you for all the guests you bring in and insights I’m getting from you weekly.
I love this whole podcast, I look forward to it every week. When I first discovered it, I devoured every episode in a massive several week binge to catch up, since I discovered you partway thru your second season. Love love love the guests you bring in. Thank you! Listening from the Central Valley in California. ❤❤
Love, love The gentleness in brother Williams voice as he shares he thoughts. His curiosity about possibilities of spiritually growing into discipleship inspired me to ask more questions and compare verses in the BofM to highlight and ponder what Mormon is trying to show us.
I personally miss 3 hrs of church. I miss meeting with my brethren every week.
I agree wholeheartedly. My husband is not interested in doing Come, Follow Me. Rather, he’ll read the scriptures with me but doesn’t want to discuss them. I miss weekly Sunday School discussions as well as the strength I receive from sharing with my sisters in RS. I’m finding other ways to address those needs though.
I find benefit in all the episodes. However, I found Nate's approach this week extremely refreshing and valuable to my soul. Thanks!
Spokane Valley, Washington state. Love listening every week.
❤❤❤❤❤ MORE NATE 😇PLEASE and THANK YOU!!! I VALUE the SPIRIT and TRUTH that he brings to us 😇💕🌈
Thank you for this episode. In particular the insight around being an antiChrist does not mean that one teaches that there isn't one, but also includes failing to teach His doctrine correctly.
Also, the reminder that for agency to exist, it requires different consequences for different choices! So, to destroy agency doesn't mean the elimination choices alone, but can include the elimination of consequences.
I've been spirituality feed. Thank for your dedication to sharing the gospel and the amazing scholars you have on to enlighten me.
Thank you Dr Williams. I'm living in SW Oregon.
Thank you Brother Williams for quoting Clayton Christensen about the need for individual responsibility and morality in maintaining our Republic!
I loved Bro Williams as a teacher at BYU-Idaho!! It was SO great to hear his Idahoan accent again! 😆🙌🏼 And more importantly, his deep knowledge and testimony! Thank you for sharing your light! ☀️
What an excellent podcast!
I am very glad to have you in my life! From Swansea, Wales, UK!
Thank John and Hank for all you do in helping the Lord’s children stay close to their Heavenly Father. Your friend Mike P. (Your friend from Elko NV, former chief of Juv. Probation).
Listening from the west of England ❤ Thank you once again for your inspiring insights 😊
I love your videos, thanks from Naomi- Swansea, Wales, UK.
thank you
In Luke 4:18-19, Christ formally began his ministry by reading which says that he is anointed "to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;(Isaiah 61:1). Then we also read in D&C 138: 30 But behold, from among the righteous, he organized his forces and appointed messengers, clothed with power and authority, and commissioned them to go forth and carry the light of the gospel to them that were in darkness, even to all the spirits of men; and thus was the gospel preached to the dead. 31 And the chosen messengers went forth to declare the acceptable day of the Lord and proclaim liberty to the captives who were bound, even unto all who would repent of their sins and receive the gospel. The message of deliverance is replete with the message of deliverance.
I think it's interesting how a Supreme Court could be likened to these judges.
Hi where could I get a copy of sister Eubanks talk that was quoted today?
Great point Hank! Lessons from The Jaredite record led Mosiah to change the government.
Thx!
💙
You should invite Todd Knowles, currently America West S&I director, to your show. He's an amazing gospel scholar.
I understand a lot more, and how to protect me from priest craft.thanks.
During this episode, I started to think that there seems to be a chronological parallel between the Lehites and Americans today. It starts off with leaving a home country, a splitting of the family (British and Americans), and ending with the peace in the land after Christ's appearance, which can parallel the millennium. 🤔
Listening from Claremore, Oklahoma
Dennis and Suzi Anderson… Hi John, this is Suzi Harris Anderson!!
Is there a link to Sharon Eubanks talk re equality at byu Idaho??? Loved this.. as usual!!!!! Thx 🙏
❤❤
My son asked me a question when we read Alma 1:30, "why there were people who were bond then?" What was the Nephite society like? Do they have slavery?
I like the comments about agency. Perhaps Satans Plan B is to have us think eat drink and be merry.
Question- How is Nehor an antichrist, but Amlici isnt?
It really wasn't a new form of government. You had judges in the Old testament and they were just going back to that form of government.
Download this in an external hard drive now ! The “they” will edit parts of it. Trust me I know!!!
It is Because of priestcraft he’s been paid! And turned on Gideon b/c he differed in opinion
Yes, that sounds right. I was thinking either he thought that it didn’t matter because we’re all going to be saved no matter if he killed Gideon. Or he was protecting something more than just ideals that he didn’t want to lose. His new income does point to that
