Every week, the guest you bring on is my favorite 🤔… thanks to them all!!
Such a great episode! Thank you all for sharing your thoughts, understanding, knowledge and perspective. You are my go-to for when I’m in the car to and from work, with the downloads as a second pass for my favorite parts.
Great podcast and awesome co hosts! We moved to St George in 2016 and happened to be in the same ward as Larry Gardner whom Hank spoke about as a teacher at snow canyon back in the 90’s asking Hank to say something at the funeral of Nephi. Larry was our Gospel Doctrine teacher in that ward. He taught amazing lessons. We were only in that ward for one year but recently saw him in the temple. He is a sealer in the St George temple now. I’m glad he was mentioned and had an impact on Hank. We always need good teachers teaching with the spirit. I find that in this podcast too!
So often these podcasts are what lift me up and help me to continue forward. I’m serving in the Laoag Philippines mission as a senior Sister and I saw appreciate you. Thank you.
Pass on my love to Sister Tuoiti. From Brother Poloai
I don’t comment much, but I listen to every session. Thank you for all you do!
I thank Heavenly Father for helping me understand the scriptures and His words through you all and others who He have trusted to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I know I can receive revelation when I read the scriptures and pray to Heavenly Father but I know He sent you all to help me gain what else I need to learn from Him. Thank you for sharing what you know of Him.
Barbara, I can't say enough about the goodness in your goals as a mother as you plan and teach your daughters about the importance of Jesus Christ and the Gospel. Nothing could be more important than your emphasis. Keep up with amazing work ♥️
I loved this so much! I’m not great at genealogy, but I do love to preserve living histories! I’ve interviewed all our kids, our missionaries, some parents and grandparents. After I like to create a Shutterfly book with photos and the interviews. ❤️ It’s my favorite thing to do
Dr. Morgan Gardener is a Rock Star. I listen to her podcast "Grounded" and recommend it highly. So thankful to have her voice as a resource for my gospel instruction.
She is so fantastic at teaching
Wonderful thank you so much ❤
Lately I have had a word come up in my mind when pride is discussed - contempt. If I find myself feeling contempt in traffic, at the grocery store, etc, I feel the need to check myself. Contempt is poison.
President Benson called it enmity. Contempt seems equal.
As a woman who lost her mother as a teenager and my father last year, I related to her comments. I am also an older mother with young daughters in my 40’s. I feel this urgency. Thank you for sharing that bit of yourself.
😮 Every week I so love your guest(s) message about believing in and following the Savior as we get to better know Him.
I think “I pity the guest next week - no one can follow this!” and BAM 💥 another grand slam!
We are all so blessed by your dedication to your craft. I will always “Follow Him”.
Thank you
As always, I learn so much from the 2 of you and your guests!!! Thank you a million times over! Thanks for adding your personal stories! Elder Bednar’s story touched me deeply! Jacob was an amazing prophet. After listening to your comments I appreciate him more than ever!
Im always grateful for the discussions. Thanks for doing these.
Love the comment the problem is not money or wealth. It’s pride.
I am an adult convert joining the church at 31, I lost my father at 25, and my mother died 2 years ago. I did not have parents to call and counsel with regarding the Gospel; however, as I listened to this podcast, I realized that I am the "grandparent." I was married and sealed at 32, had my first child at 34, and my last at 44. My husband is 10 years younger, his parents were converts and immigrants. Both of us feel like we're the "pioneers" we have a long way to go in parenting, but this is the ultimate in "keeping the end" in mind as we rear and raise my children. Your podcast and personal stories are invaluable in teaching! Thank you, I feel like we know each other!
I am a comfort. Also joining the church can be hard at first. It’s almost like LDS people speak a different language. Congratulations on your choice.
Good stuff. Another reason why we should never judge parents with rebellious children. If Lehi only had Laman & Lemuel, it’d be easy to think “Hmmm i wonder what was going on in THAT household. They probably weren’t doing family prayer or [this it that].”
They’d probably feel like failures as parents too.
Thank you
What a Doctor President Nelson... a heart Doctor ❤️
I once had a calling that required me to take a picture of all the ward members for the bishop. One girl, who I felt was my friend, really didn't want her picture taken and when I mentioned how we're supposed to sustain each other in our callings she said, "Ya, we sustain our leaders" like she didn't need to sustain me though I'm sure she'd raised her hand when my call was announced in Sacrament meeting. I had no response and I didn't wish to argue. I only wanted to fulfill my calling. I'm still active in the church, but I wish I'd known more so I could have lovingly responded to let her know that though I understood her reluctance and my testimony wasn't hurt, but my trust in her sustaining was hurt by her lack of support.
Love these podcasts❤
I became painfully aware that a lot of people don't understand the doctrine of sustaining when I was the relief society president a few years ago. Everyone needs to study that in the doctor and covenants because there will be times when you have to decline the sustaining in order to sustain those leaders because they are doing something wrong and they won't own up to it.
The quote from Elder Holland about children being matches to be lit…where is that from? So good!
It’s on the church website. Not on our Gospel library app. The talk is entitled “Angels and Astonishment”; June 12, 2019. From a CES training broadcast.
The talk is amazing!
Thank you! I am a school principal and I have been looking for this quote… a great quote to generate conversation among educators!

Barbara it was killing me the whole episode where I’ve heard your voice. Finally placed it, Ellen Degeneres!! Great episode!

😊❤
Matches to be lit.. make that a 'short' , please.. I wanted to post it, but forgot who you quoted
❤❤❤
We are talking about the responsibility of Jacob to his people. Am I mistaken on the boat were there 30 people? Now there is a division of Nephites and Lamanites. How many people do you think Jacob is talking to?? I have a difficulty seeing over 100.
Here is an interesting article by Book of Mormon Central on the topic:
knowhy.bookofmormoncentral.org/knowhy/did-others-influence-book-of-mormon-peoples
What was the talk she was referring to from Kimball and the promises given with reading scriptures each day? Or did I hear the wrong person?
What was the name of the Podcast that Barbara mentioned at the beginning
It’s called “Grounded.”
Grounded but enter her name after
The oath covenant of the priesthood is often associated,, with oath and covenant of the man. That is incorrect. the oath and covenant of the priesthood, refers to the covenants, and ordinances performed through the priesthood of God, which is for all men and women.
Great pod- I just wish she wouldn’t bow the knee to the left by bringing up racism and sexism. Yes these are hot topics in the media but the issues are probably better now than ever in our history as a country so why focus on them other than to grant the lefts narrative that they are the most important things ever
