Great podcast and awesome co hosts! We moved to St George in 2016 and happened to be in the same ward as Larry Gardner whom Hank spoke about as a teacher at snow canyon back in the 90’s asking Hank to say something at the funeral of Nephi. Larry was our Gospel Doctrine teacher in that ward. He taught amazing lessons. We were only in that ward for one year but recently saw him in the temple. He is a sealer in the St George temple now. I’m glad he was mentioned and had an impact on Hank. We always need good teachers teaching with the spirit. I find that in this podcast too!

I thank Heavenly Father for helping me understand the scriptures and His words through you all and others who He have trusted to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I know I can receive revelation when I read the scriptures and pray to Heavenly Father but I know He sent you all to help me gain what else I need to learn from Him. Thank you for sharing what you know of Him.

I loved this so much! I’m not great at genealogy, but I do love to preserve living histories! I’ve interviewed all our kids, our missionaries, some parents and grandparents. After I like to create a Shutterfly book with photos and the interviews. ❤️ It’s my favorite thing to do

Lately I have had a word come up in my mind when pride is discussed - contempt. If I find myself feeling contempt in traffic, at the grocery store, etc, I feel the need to check myself. Contempt is poison.

I am an adult convert joining the church at 31, I lost my father at 25, and my mother died 2 years ago. I did not have parents to call and counsel with regarding the Gospel; however, as I listened to this podcast, I realized that I am the "grandparent." I was married and sealed at 32, had my first child at 34, and my last at 44. My husband is 10 years younger, his parents were converts and immigrants. Both of us feel like we're the "pioneers" we have a long way to go in parenting, but this is the ultimate in "keeping the end" in mind as we rear and raise my children. Your podcast and personal stories are invaluable in teaching! Thank you, I feel like we know each other!

I am a comfort. Also joining the church can be hard at first. It’s almost like LDS people speak a different language. Congratulations on your choice.

Good stuff. Another reason why we should never judge parents with rebellious children. If Lehi only had Laman & Lemuel, it’d be easy to think “Hmmm i wonder what was going on in THAT household. They probably weren’t doing family prayer or [this it that].”
They’d probably feel like failures as parents too.

I once had a calling that required me to take a picture of all the ward members for the bishop. One girl, who I felt was my friend, really didn't want her picture taken and when I mentioned how we're supposed to sustain each other in our callings she said, "Ya, we sustain our leaders" like she didn't need to sustain me though I'm sure she'd raised her hand when my call was announced in Sacrament meeting. I had no response and I didn't wish to argue. I only wanted to fulfill my calling. I'm still active in the church, but I wish I'd known more so I could have lovingly responded to let her know that though I understood her reluctance and my testimony wasn't hurt, but my trust in her sustaining was hurt by her lack of support.

I became painfully aware that a lot of people don't understand the doctrine of sustaining when I was the relief society president a few years ago. Everyone needs to study that in the doctor and covenants because there will be times when you have to decline the sustaining in order to sustain those leaders because they are doing something wrong and they won't own up to it.

We are talking about the responsibility of Jacob to his people. Am I mistaken on the boat were there 30 people? Now there is a division of Nephites and Lamanites. How many people do you think Jacob is talking to?? I have a difficulty seeing over 100.

The oath covenant of the priesthood is often associated,, with oath and covenant of the man. That is incorrect. the oath and covenant of the priesthood, refers to the covenants, and ordinances performed through the priesthood of God, which is for all men and women.

Great pod- I just wish she wouldn’t bow the knee to the left by bringing up racism and sexism. Yes these are hot topics in the media but the issues are probably better now than ever in our history as a country so why focus on them other than to grant the lefts narrative that they are the most important things ever
