my first ever visit to Six Flags Great America was definitely around this time. My poor father was so annoyed with me because i was scared to go on anything! I just remember going on things like Triple play, Whizzer, the Sky Whirl, a bunch of the log flume rides, and eating fries with my mom haha 25 years later, I look forward to going back here all the time to go on all the coasters and thrill rides
I don't know why this was recommended to me, but I know that videos like this should be archived. Hell, I wasn't even born for another 20 days at the filming of this video and looking back on what Six Flags used to be/have is incredibly interesting to me. Especially videos of Shockwave, Z-Force, and that bobsled they used to have! Thanks for this video
SFGA is my home park and brought me fond memories of my childhood. I was 11 when batman the ride opened way back in 92 and now I get to see my kids enjoy SFGA.
that's such an awesome feeling! i don't have children but i do have two nephews. One is 4 and the other is 1. They're way too young to go on rides here, but they did have a mixed time at Santa's Village. I think in a year they will have fun at Santa's Village and then eventually they will have a great time at Six Flags
I have 1996 footage somewhere too. We (my friends and I) were filming way before technology changes to higher quality cameras. I'm happy I have friends who are helping with content.
Iron wolf underrated. Had that great spaghetti bowl ending with my first s curve. Great whip and air on the direction change. That parks missing an s bend. Needs a new one somewhere
I actually am a Whizzer fan I got to ride the one at Worlds of fun too.. It was when I saw the American Eagle was presented on a show of "That's Incredible" I decided one day I would be a roller coaster fan. I was raised in NYC. I went to Rockaway, Rye, Nelly Bly, Adventurers Inn, Coney (and allegedly) Palisades.. I was in a Stroller not sure that Palisades counts. Great America has some great rides.
Yeah, it was a good era, coasters were changing as they always do I guess. I went in 1996 and 2005, one of my best friends allowed me to share this video.
the date arrangement confused me but then i heard the accent and it made sense lol. and damn how cameras from back then just dont hold up anymore and for only 20 years old they look like they were filmed in the damn 60s. crazy to realize we have come that far that fast in video technology.
I'm more of the photographer (see loopyugy.com) it's nice my friends and travelling companions are there to help me support history. Though now everybody seems to do it - can't turn back the clock.
I loved seeing raging bull from the parking lot before the waterpark was there. The trims are hilarious though like how do you engineer and build this giant ride and you design it to ... go over the AIRTIME HILL "too fast" Rip shockwave
Nope not this time, I'm not featured here. Mark is a good friend and has wonderful disposition. I do miss Jack though still riding coasters in his 70's. Somewhere in heaven he's on a scenic railway with a cigarette and a drink.

That was cool to see. My first time here is at 2007 when we first moved in the area. Crazy how much this park has changed over the years.
