It was an exciting time when rides like this were being installed. There was so much more suspense when everyone didn't know much about rides until they were either announced or opened. Thanks for watching, Chris!
Back in the day when B&M ruled the 90s and 2000s and most of all the industry all together. They were literally selling like hotcakes and every Park had to get their hands on one.
Very cool footage, Sean! Medusa was the subject of one of my all-time favorite rollercoaster based interviews back when it first opened, in which Walter Bolliger was asked what the thought process behind the floorless coaster was. When the original Batman: The Ride first opened, he rode it with numerous guest who, although praising the coaster, had one nitpick: they thought the overhead track was "evasive" to the view of flying. Most engineers wouldn't let this nitpick affect their work, but thats not how B&M works. So they decided they wanted to develop a coaster that "had the floorless feeling like the inverted coaster, but without the overhead track blocking the view. 5 years worth of R&D later, Medusa was born. And judging by the flying and wing coasters, B&M is still perfecting the art of flying on rollercoasters.
Glad that Medusa is still as loud today as she was when she was new. A good coaster roars and is heard throughout the park. It attracts people. Also! They won’t allow tours like this anymore. Thanks Jacoby and Meyers!
This vid is legit, I remember when I was little, I always thought the Medusa green color scheme was just a dream I had, because literally the next year it turned into bizarro
During the ACE event Riding of the Bull, there is a very similar tour they do. I did it once and it was amazing. You get to go right up to Bizarro's flamethrowers!
I love the highlighter green and purple colors this used to have. Those colors popped. You think you might have lost any hearing with how loud this thing is standing right next to it? 😂
@@Fazcoasters six Flags, then under Premier Parks, added 25 rides at Great Adventure for the 1999 season to have a war on lines, claiming that there would be no time spend waiting to go on a ride. There were two other smaller coasters that opened that year, some flat thrill rides, and some kiddie rides. Some of the rides had a short shelf life at the park as some were unreliable, and others got sent to other Six Flags parks, notably World's of Adventure.
I remember some folks complaining that the layout was too similar to Kumba's, but they really liked the flourless sensation. Medusa is one of the reasons I no longer rate coasters as I had this, as well as Hulk, as my number one. That was the last year I have rated.
Coaster Celebration events were awesome! Medusa tour sold out quick that year but I got Scream Machine. Great stuff as always!
Many thanks, Jeff! I remember the park offering tours for GASM but I never had the chance to do that tour.
I love this Medusa color scheme the most but the new one isn’t too bad
I remember this being such a big deal when it came out. Great footage, that fresh paint is beautiful

They certainly were a big reason I got into coasters as much as I did. They were the kings.
Very cool footage, Sean!

That's really cool. I hadn't heard that was one of the reasons for the flourless to be created.

Gotta love that B&M roar!

It indeed was very loud. It might be the loudest B&M I have heard.
This and Riddler at SFMM are tied for the loudest B&M coasters.
Hey Sean, can I also use some clips from this video? I'll provide full credit of course!
You sure can.
This ride opened up with 25 other rides for the 1999 season as part of the war on lines campaign
What was it? I never heard of that before

@@johnfoltz8183 Thanks for informing me!
She’s coming back
That was so cool
Can I use some of your footage on a review and history of the Medusa roller coaster please and give credit?
Yes. Thank you for asking.
That color scheme is so much better than the random dc comics nonsense in a safari section why in gods name did they get rid of it
Medusa makes a lot more sense in the western area then Bizarro
@@ThrillsofColdplay Both are strange choices for that area, in my opinion. Medusa Mining Company? Very odd indeed.
Awesome upload Sean, I always forget how old this ride is. Enthusiasts give Bizzaro a hard time now, but what did people think of it when it was new?

Bizarro has been very shaky this past year and it still is now
@@ThrillsofColdplay That's too bad. I remember this being incredibly smooth.
I would love to do this
It was a lot of fun.
The green track always looked yellow to me am I the only one
Chris Sawyer would agree with you, as Medusa in the Great Adventure recreation in Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 was painted yellow.
It’s bizarro now
This is true and noted in the description as well. I had never ridden it as Bizzaro. Such a strange theme for the coaster.
@@SeanFlaharty yeah
And now it’s Medusa again lmao
El Toro spray painted on a footer hmm..🤔
