This channel features roller coaster experiences captured by my friends and traveling companions over many years. While I was typically involved with photography my enthusiastic coaster friends like, Ron, Ian, Matt, Wayne and Stephen were often video taping. With sincere thanks to them (and their permission) I can share these videos. Mostly starting from 1990 on VHS, these videos were recorded long before HD, 4K, smart phones etc..and we're converting the videos to an internet format for historical purposes and entertainment. I hope you enjoy them. Please be patient I expect more content. If you have a video or two and you want featured here for its historical value.. Please advise
I don't always know who took the videos and under what arrangements. Filming on rides can be dangerous and may require equipment and permission to "film". With that If you are a park representative and see a video you disapprove of please email directly. www.loopyguy.com/contact

Journey to Atlantis POV at SeaWorld Orlando 2022
Thanks for the memories!!! Loved that place.
This was the first roller coaster I ever rode as a kid in 1962 .... The last time I wrote it was a 1983 just before they tore it down. I happen to be visiting New Orleans and made a special trip The Pontchartrain Beach just to ride the roller coaster.
I went on this sometime in 2015 Went back for 4th of July this year , not open and rotting away. Lakeside in general isn’t being kept up with and it shows . I feel like they’re just squeezing the last bit of profit because they’re going to sell it. I have no clue if that’s the case , it’s just a feeling.
That shockwave / iron wolf footage 😢
It was not the biggest or best, but you were definitely going for a ride on this one. Towards the late 90's, we were never sure if we'd make it back in one piece
Hello
I bet cedar fair could get the licence to theme it back to waynes world.
I loved seeing raging bull from the parking lot before the waterpark was there. The trims are hilarious though like how do you engineer and build this giant ride and you design it to ... go over the AIRTIME HILL "too fast" Rip shockwave
Iron wolf underrated. Had that great spaghetti bowl ending with my first s curve. Great whip and air on the direction change. That parks missing an s bend. Needs a new one somewhere
This was my first coaster when it was Circus World
the date arrangement confused me but then i heard the accent and it made sense lol. and damn how cameras from back then just dont hold up anymore and for only 20 years old they look like they were filmed in the damn 60s. crazy to realize we have come that far that fast in video technology.
I'm more of the photographer (see loopyugy.com) it's nice my friends and travelling companions are there to help me support history. Though now everybody seems to do it - can't turn back the clock.
Yeah, it was a good era, coasters were changing as they always do I guess. I went in 1996 and 2005, one of my best friends allowed me to share this video.
my first ever visit to Six Flags Great America was definitely around this time. My poor father was so annoyed with me because i was scared to go on anything! I just remember going on things like Triple play, Whizzer, the Sky Whirl, a bunch of the log flume rides, and eating fries with my mom haha 25 years later, I look forward to going back here all the time to go on all the coasters and thrill rides
Greetings! May I use this footage in a video I'm making about roller coasters in crazy places? I will give your channel full credit.
I crashed my eyes out on that thing in approximately 1984. Thanks for the video !
Not 1992 this was definitely after 1994 as the drop did not have trim brakes prior to 1994
Good to know that the brakes work
Loved it, my most missed ride from Alton Towers
This made me remember the wild west shooting range, thanks
What was the reason Ghost town couldn’t stay open?? Lack of funds, no customers, property taxes?? Anyone know??
First time I touched any boobs was in the queue for this ride. I was 13 and there on a school trip. Met this scouse girl whilst queuing up. She was with her pals, I was with mine. All of us ended up swapping spit and I was able (and allowed) to, as the yanks say "touch 3rd base". She was called Helen. Bit of a slag. Good looking, but had bad breath. Memories.....
BAD MOMS DO JOYLAND
Rode this back in 70s definitely was a fun place
looks like a blast haha! got nervous you almost fell out at one point LOL!!!
I don't know of anyone who has..
The only ride I could never stay conscious on. After the first loop, I’d get knocked out.
I had the same problem that day. I got in maybe five rides if I recall.
Just how i remember it- with the "Tyrolean" scenery, which has now all gone. 😐
I wish i could find footage of this in operation but I feel like it would be impossible considering it was only operating for a few months
This was taken shortly after the ride was rebuilt after it was damaged by Hurricane Hugo (1989). In fact, the Swamp Fox (and the area now known as Family Kingdom) was closed for the 1990 and 1991 seasons as a result of Hugo. The people at American Coaster Enrhusiasts commended the people that run Family Kingdom for the rebuilding (and continued care) of the Roller Coaster.
It was a wonderful little park. I expect they expected to get a lot of money off the property. Then 2008 "mini market crash' hit and nobody was spending money on much. I remember going years ago and riding their corkscrew, I went 3-4 times total.
Did you hear that the Zipline place is permanently closed
The Monster Plantation was a popular and iconic ride at Six Flags Over Georgia but ony 90's kids will really remember the experience. I personally didn't care for it when I rode it back in the day. I thought the animatronics were pretty cheap and ugly to look at and got pretty bored, halfway through but hey, childhood memories are childhood memories. They probably had to rename this to Monster Mansion in 2020 because of George Floyd and maybe some black kids would have gotten offended to see that this would be called a plantation because that's where people held slaves back in the 1610's-1860's and tortured them as an act of extreme racism. It was probably also kind of insulting to imply that they were equating black people to hideous, disgusting, ugly, uncivilized monsters that couldn't even be qualified as humans. The fact that half of these monsters all had deep southern accents probably didn't help.
It was renamed in 2009. Still, probably for political correctness but I don't know what the actual impetus was.
I wish it stayed at astroworld and that astroworld was still here with all the classic rides they had! I sadly only got to ride Texas Tornado only one time in 1999! After that when i went in 2000 2001 and 2002 it was closed many times then!
It was closed the three or four times I went. Never got to ride it.
Pure nostalgia! My first job ever and I worked this coaster! I *COULD* have been one of the employees there, hard to tell from the video. But it took me back, that’s for sure! Thank you for the video! 😉
97 was a real highlight of my life. I was able to catch a Braves game and spend the day at this fantastic park. We splurged on the Q Pass, which granted us VIP access to skip the lines and ride all day long. It was an absolute thrill! Who knows, maybe I even crossed paths with you amidst the excitement. I bet that job was so sweet too
Ahhh nostalgic memories!! I remember when it was brown/rust from the 90s
Back when they use to run 3 trains on it!
This was the little Wildcat, my Mom and I were hired to tear this down, the wood for the Wildcat helped build my Mom's house in Longs, SC. It was still running on the day it was tore down and I was the last to ride it (like 8 straight times, lol) and you were dead on about the date (Aug1986?) they put a Kroeger's Grocery store there in it's place!
Nemesis in her younger years. She's come a long way
nice ride but is so bumpy and hurt my head so much loops
This was an awesome place, wish it would've stayed open
Hey,im from australia went 2 kd in 1992 had so much fun.. Got oldschool home vid aswell.
I have do much dna on that track from wiping out😂. Some of my best days ever were there.
I can’t believe I found this. I grew up in Largo, some people called in upper Marboro, Maryland. This roller coaster literally brings back so many memories. I was trying to think of the name of six flags America before it was six flags. Duh, it was wild world! This was one of the more popular roller coasters that always had issues after a while. It was my favorite.
Wow this brought back memories. My father is a historian and has a large Collection of Coney Island. He was good friends with Norman and Ken Kaufman, the owners of the Jumbo Jet. Such a fun ride, I ride it thousands of times! He also happened to be good friend with Gerry Mendito, the manager of the Cyclone so I can remember riding that thousands of times as well. There were times where I would just stay on for a hour or two while my Dad talked with Gerry. I miss those days.
It should still named Monster Plantation, they change their name because a bunch of negros had to claim it was racist! There was nothing racist about monster plantation!
👍Lots of videos without the yellow track in operation. Hope they fixed the problems, or it may wind up at that retirement home for classic rides in central Pennsylvania 😏
Yellow track has always been only used on busy days
Perfect timing
I LOVED CAROWINDS! Except the day in 87, when the stray bullet killed that poor, pretty girl, in the wave pool, that was horrible!-every other time was Awesomeness! I was probably there the day this was shot. Carowinds babysat A LOT of Charlotte kids!
WHY WHY tear it down? It used to be the first thing you saw!
I had my first kiss on that roller coaster back in 1995, I miss joyalnd so much😢😢😢😢
