Yes, a deadhang is when your back muscles aren't engaged when hanging, whereas an active hang like he said is when your back muscles are activated and your shoulder blades go downwards relative to your body

That is one of the simplest and most effective tutorials I've ever seen for exercise. What a brilliant idea to use a resistance band on one side.
