People fail to realize that Art built his 'thing' from scratch via HAM radio. The man is a pioneer and I certainly respect his technical knowledge. You dont come across his level of intellect interviewing the most unlikely stories and breaking them down. There is no host on the radio today that even comes close, certainly not that drooling idiot Noory. Art should have just done a damn podcast on his return and not get locked in to a non compete with a bunch of corporate puppets. Sad.
Art is a fucking radio genius, I wish the B-B-B-B-Boys really understood him. If Gregg and Tony made their bones on AM and HAM they would get why he is how is and how he does his show. It's almost 65% caller driven, and a lot of the people WERE at home on a land line, listen to his shows from '94 to '98, the few times he got cell calls he unfortunately had to punch them out personally because it was so hard to keep a real conversation going. As much as I love O&A they don't really TALK to the callers and have a conversation 8/10 times. Their favorite calls are two lines max, typically something from Mongo (think K-I-K-E 12 to K-I-K-E 1 during the Rich Vos Overlook/The Shining Gig) or a quick paragraph long story that they can comment on. Not knocking the Boys, not saying Art is BETTER than them (that's another conversation entirely), but while they get some of his gripes they laugh at the others because while they may have been around since the 90s, Art's been around for decades longer, they come from a different era.

If I remember back then they were still hurting from the merger and trying to squeeze every penny. I only wish o, a & jimmy decided to move on an podcast. They would have been pioneers once again and the show probably wouldn’t have fallen apart.
A legitimate reason I could think of that Art got frustrated so quickly is because they may have promised him all the things he has issues with. Those may have been negotiation topics that Sirus didn't follow through on.

However these are shows when they have NOTHING prepared and they need to spitball, and they make it up when it's a packed house and you have Vos and Norton and Bawby and Patrice (RIP) destroying one another.

for a company like sirius that was years ahead of the game in radio technology they just stopped innovating and fell backwards, technology is a fast paced business and there is a massive collection of businesses to choose from, almost making them irrelevant except that they have certain programs that others can not. >Like Howard.. Opie and Anthony... Bam Margera Radio..etc.. but they don't advertise that shit enough so it's main downfall is advertising, then not utilizing the technology at hand.
