@@tromboneman4517 Nah riff guitarist would be more specific actually with Keith, every thing in music involves rhytms that's why, even rubato, but riffs is more specific to what he does generally.. Majority out look on this is wrong or very vague at best, just like with many if not most things.
From 1:57 to 2:15 Ola's using the C ascending melodic minor scale Then from 2:15 to 2:23, he's playing in the key of G major. Since the rythm guitar is playing the fourth (C) and first degree (G) of this scale, you can say he's playing in C lydian when the rythm guitar is playing a C chord. So you're absolutely right : you have a pretty good hear man! And yes the feeling in this part is just awesome! \m/ (X_x) \m/
Nice twin melody towards the end before the riffage. All in all great experience. I liked it. Expected like... well that's the thing. With Mr. Merrow, his riffs and melody with phrasing is unique and can go places you didn't think. And of course Mr. Loomis shreds like a machine. Mr. Loomis does stuff you wouldn't really expect. And has super cool speedy riffs and pretty sweet vibrato. Both you guys make a nice tandem for a metal band. Keep it up and Sweet
Ola probably had a different Mike and many other different things like the amps and guitars ola had his guitar with Seymour Duncan pickups probably passive but high distortion while the other two had schector hellraisers with active emg pickups more power
hey kieth! ive been listening to this song everyday for about a year now. and you gave me inspiration for making music! hands down to you and jeff for beeing two of the moast amazing guitarist in out lifetime! cheers from norway!
Came across this while looking at a practice Amp for home and though this isn't something I normally go for, I really enjoyed that. Excellent sound and extremely well played. Think I'll watch another of them.
I've watched this video countless times and just now realized that Keith's guitar has fanned frets. Freaking love this song. It got me to check out bias and jamup (which I love), conquering dystopia (which is freaking amazing) and Keith merrow (who's a boss). It also led the way to me finding revocation, periphery, gojira, and a ton of other bands that I would never have heard of or had interest in were it not for this.
I watched this video one time when it first came out a few years ago. Fast forward to 2017 and I still remember most of the riffs - Keith you write some AMAZING guitar licks lol
Jeff's style and phrasing always seemed to come from the Paul Gilbert tree of guitarists. They both have hands like giants. I think Paul still plays six strings??? This is incredible.
I can play Foo Fighters "Everlong". It's not quite as heavy, but chicks dig it. Maybe Jeff Loomis and his friends would wanna record that with me and post it to help their careers. \m/
+ Ζήσης Δούκας Huh... I request a drug test. Although I love both... Nevermore has some of the most EPIC tunes of all time in my book. I was just listening to Politics of Ecstasy...such a SIK album
I thought i lost hipe in music. Then i watched this Thank you for bringing me back to were i need to be with me and my guitar. AND YES. IT DOES CHUG !!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure there is a single way I could be more jealous of you, Keith. Working for seymour duncan, jamming with jeff loomis, every seven string I can think of is probably sitting in your house.you're my freaking hero.
JamUp Pro. I have been an AmpKit user for quite some time, but since three of my favourite guitarists are advertising this, I have to get one. Take my money, Positive Grid.
Great video and really nice song! Actually my 3 ultimate guitar hero's in one Song :-) Also very great work from the guy who made the tab for this song on ultimate-guitar!
That's the Ola Englund JamUp Pro signature package that will be available along with Keith and Jeffs pack soon!
Listening an album with Keith, Ola and Loomis it has to happen some day, that will be awesome
Wow this has been 9 yrs already, ya fatherfvcks.
Is it out yet?
@@k.w.a.s i think a couple more months and it will be, you can preorder now
Jeff Loomis doesn't get as much credit as her deserves. His melodic solos and lead licks are so good.
hell yeah, I really dig his playing style
all these years later... I find myself returning to these players and tones... amazing ..... Ola, we are in strange times... greetings from Finland
Jeff Loomis, Ola Englund, and Keith Merrow.....how did my computer not fucking explode!?
1:38 volume pot up. Nice touch. Very nice touch. Tasty. Very tasty in fact. Maybe the tastiest.
Gives me chills
Totally cranked my spine
He also does that in The River Dragon Has Come
His sense of details is impressive. Both very good musicians
i came a bit.
I think Keith has to be one of the best riff architects in modern metal...
Jason Tarantino, you mean rhythm guitarist? I would absolutely agree.
@@tromboneman4517 lol

Riff guitarist is actually more accurate than what that counter argument says, stick with that. All music involves rhythm that's why, even rubato
The 80's intro was absolutely epic! lol
My god, sick playing and killer composition! These guys are on another planet....Planet Metal! lol
For The Umpteenth Time.. Not Your God.
Does loomis ever age? He has looked the exact same for 20 years.
Nate no he doesnt
Nate he's a guitar god. So no he doesn't age.
Nate Clearly he is a vampire.
Thats what happens when you spend your off time on tour practicing licks and reading books about dragons and shit instead of partying like an asshole
5 years later and he still looks the same.
You guys make such a killer duo or trio. Hands down top five.
everytime i watch this i have a silly grin on my face!! so looking forward to the album release!!!

Ola's solo is a fucking masterpiece. Perfect note choice!!
This is a fun watch

This video is cool af
These two together make such a deadly team. I LOVE your music together.

These guys are machines and I'm feeling honestly honored to be able to watch and listen... Humbled..
jordan rudess plays guitar now?
This comment aged well
De hecho si toca guitarra!
exactly my thoughts
😂😂😂
Well, the real Jordan can actually play guitar.
3 of my favourite guitarists in one video.
Life just can't get any better.
The Riffs from 0.53 and 2.51 should have made it into Conquering Dystopia. Two of my all time favorites from Merrow and Loomis :).
I absolutely love Ola's solos every single time. So lyrical and just... good.
This video is a year old holy shit!
I have been watching your vids for years! HOLY SHIT!
You mean 7
Holy fucking shit. That might of been the best vid I've seen you guys do and I've been watching for years now.

2:22 - 2:28 sounds super awesome
Keith's solo was 10 times better than Ola's
Sebastián Pareja that was jeff playing man
Sebastián Pareja and no it was not :'D
0:00-3:34 sounds super awesome ;)
That face that Ola pulled was gold.
Awesome riffs and epic soloing.
The riff at 0.53 in unbelievable.
I love so much that this happens. Richly deserve every bit of success that comes to you, all three of you.
I heard Jeff Loomis sold his eyebrows to Satan for his guitar playing skills.
I just imagined Ola signature Randall Satan amp with blonde eyebrows right in the middle!
Nah, Jeff is clearly super saiyan 3. it would explain the eyebrows.
Singularity CA 🤣
Singularity CA will he take my eyebrows too? Hell, I'd give up a whole lot to play like Keith!
It Wasn't Satan He Sold Them To. It Was A Califarious. Satan Doesn't Need Eyebrows.

This is the type of shit that i dream man... PURE FUCKIN METAL.

For some reason I feel like I'm watching Nosferatu and Dracula (Keith n' Jeff) and Ola being the Imp he is!
Your videos are too awesome, my Internet can't handle them. Anyway those 20 mins of buffering were really worth the weight.
Cool. So do you guys play guitar often or...?
I watched this video one time when it first came out a few years ago. Fast forward to 2017 and I still remember most of the riffs - Keith you write some AMAZING guitar licks lol
This song needs more notes.
Gary Dotson no
+Gary Dotson Must be a necrophagist fan haha :P
+Gary Dotson Very funny!
Gary Dotson, check out Conquering Dystopia. There’s plenty more notes and the songs are a bit longer as well.
Josh Jyreh Taccad, both riffs and notes.
Nothing but badassery here : ) wasn't expecting anything less.
Jeff's style and phrasing always seemed to come from the Paul Gilbert tree of guitarists. They both have hands like giants. I think Paul still plays six strings??? This is incredible.
Jeff is also a MASSIVE Jason Becker fan too
Great track guys. I absolutely love the way you two write. Keep em coming!
Jordan Rudess?
You guys are my idols! Conquering Dystopia is so amazing!
What song is this? Anyone?
+Oblique Sustain it's literally called "Bro 2.0."
tabs are on ultimate guitar if you want them
Oh what a nice tone from Ola, i'd like to listen to it forever

The good ole days......bring it back fellas....bring it back!!!!!!!!
This is some of the most creative guitar work I've seen in a while, and it's just a jam session for them. Those fucking riffs dude!
That was probably the best Loomis solo I've ever heard. Not even gonna lie!
Keith absolutely amazing! blown away on every video you post.
Keep this shit coming!
I've watched this at least a dozen times. Fuckin love this shit.
This is fresh ! Very very good riffs. In fact, the Merrow and Loomis/Nevermoer touchs are perfectly blended
