The more I listen to dvorak 9 I happen to love the first movement more and more, it’s amazing
I will never get tired to listen to my favorite symphonie played by this orchestra(especially with my new headphones!)
Mine too!
I played 1st clarinet on this great piece with the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony back in the late 80's. Dvorak was a superb composer who wrote some great wind parts.
Istvan Kertesz with the London SO is the gold standard. Everything else is cold porridge in comparison.
@@psijicassassin7166Sounds too slow and the Horns Kind of out of tune... This is better...for me...🤷🏻♂️🙈 (I pay Like 20 bucks Every month so im Kind of biased...✌️)
Meine Lieblingsmusik
An exceptional performance - the conductor was totally inspired, and took this fabulous orchestra with him all the way.
This conducting and that sound is so powerful. I love it.
Wahrhaft tiefempfunden!
I love this symphony!!! So well played!!! Strings sound/feel like velvet!!!
Petr like Dvorak's rearising! Love their smiles at the end. Such a beautiful new world you guys are bringing! Thank you!
Best performance I’ve ever heard of this piece! Love, love, love the Camaraderie of the players! Well done Maestro!!!
Go hear Celibidache's with MPO nd Estrada's with Frankfurt radio symphony
Eine wundervolle Sinfonie wundervoll gespielt :)
My favorite symphony!
Ah this is music and a true breath of fresh air. Dvorak is great!
This symphony is among the most perfect once. Beautiful music, extremely well composed and orchestrated. HR - Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt sounds extremely clear, sensitive, expressive, rich of various tones in perfect balance and unity on highest level possible.
Exibição magnífica. Um banquete musical para o espírito. Que Deus abençoe a orquestra.
Superbe
Great orchestra, wonderful conductor Petr Popelka! Thank you.
I enjoy the musical orchesta It is very nice how they play.
This channel, specifically your shostacovich 5 got me intrested in playing an instrument again.
3months after I restarted piano and I'm learning Liszt!
Great performance and video quality. And the conductor is adorable😇
Great sounds, and excellent picture quality. Looks great on my 1440p panel.
I was first alerted to Popelka not through the 2018 Malko Conducting Competition where he was very surprisingly eliminated in the semi-finals but through a broadcast concert in late 2021. This was essentially a performance of Dvorak 6 with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. It was very fast and fiery but it had a tremendous theatrical tingle to it. It was certainly one of the most exciting performances of this still neglected work that I have ever heard. When I discovered this Frankfurt reading of the New World, I was intrigued to see if he would deliver the same kind of mindblowing performance. Not quite, would be my verdict. It is unquestionably full of the lyrical Bohemian spirit which suffes this work (it is more Czech than American, let us not forget) and Popelka has his own ideas. I'm not sure that the way he twice pulls the tempo back in the first movement (given without the exposition repeat) is completely persuasive, but the Largo is sensitively done, the Scherzo has plenty of rhythmic drive (and he doesn't dawdle unnecessarily in the Trio), and the Finale is conducted con fuoco as indicated but without ever being over-driven. If there is one overall criticism I would want to make, it is his tendency to micro-manage too much of the instrumental detail. Allowing your musicians to play without too much intervention from the podium is a useful piece of advice for any young and aspiring conductor.
thank you for this performance, very beautiful
Oboe musicians are perfect.
Thats the best performance ive ever heard! Thank you so much ❤
The Berlin Philharmonic may have the mystique, but this orchestra creates divine music AND makes it available for all of us. Deep respect.
18:54 My favorite moment of this symphony. Though there are countless other amazing ones!
30:48 - 31:20 is probably my favorite although the tempo is a bit faster in this recording than what I'm used to! There are indeed countless other ones! This was the first symphony I ever listened to and it holds a very special place in my heart.
Wow this part is definitely very beautiful, I agree.
Perfect unique thank you
Vielen Dank
THANK SO MUCH
Outstanding, Bravo
Qualidade do vídeo e do som espetaculares, edição perfeita, sonoridade da orquestra no grau máximo! Como amo esse canal.
Incredible.
Thrillingly profound.
Adoro esta orquestra!
WOW
Howgh! :-)
Bravo English horn! Amazing

Popelka is a revelation.
Very nice, though my favourite recordings are the ones where the trumpets syncopated bit at 9:15 come through really harsh and grating.
Very mature musical leadership and/but my goodness that’s some serious physical animation going on
Look up Alondra de la Parra, she's a lot more expressive in her conducting :D
Bravo! The workmanship is excellent! Bravo orchestra! But the interpretation, especially of the first part, puzzles me. This interpretation reminds me of the process of making love to a woman with a constant delay in the final, its logical conclusion! Listen to von Karajan. ☮️🇷🇺💓
beautiful! excellent! but sometimes too much expretion. anyway. very good perfomance
What's the name of the lady that received the flowers from the conductor?
This is America's greatest symphony made by a non-citizen.
There is a repeat in the first movement. It is not optional. If you want a Dvorak symphony without a repeated exposition then perform the 7th or 8th.
All in all a mediocre performance, I've heard much better throughout the years. His tempo is too slow in places where it should be faster and vice versa. This symphony is not for debutant conductors like this one. Look for Dohnanyi and Belohlavek for a much better experience hands down.
@@camilmoujaber4813 I agree with both comments above! I love the performance this same orchestra did in May 2018 under Andrés Orozco-Estrada, but I found this rendition to be very affected in many ways that I found lacking, especially in the Largo. The performers are all marvelous, but I did not care for the conductor's tempi and choices.
Isn’t it a bit too fast in the end?

I really LOVE this orchestra a lot but the CAMERA work is terrible. The violins have an amazing passage the end of the first movement and what is shown? The damned trumpets, why??
Scherzo, beautiful clarinets playing, showing the triangle? WHY???
I think that calling it terrible is a bit harsh... I've seen a lot worse with harsh cuts, awkward close ups, weird angles etc. and I think it's overall very decent. I can understand your point regarding the instrument choices for some passages, though.

This is where your young and healthy person on the podium ruins music into screaming, all for the sake of volume which must match his energy level. Beating the orchestra into the loud output does not benefit the orchestra and kills the music. I wish this conductor inspiration of different kind - musical. What I witnessed in this recording was an LA Fitness gym session.
