I sold my E39 528i Touring one year ago and I'm still crying... :-(
Now my car is a BMW E61 525i Touring (facelift 3 Liter engine), but it's not the same, less emotional driving.

Oh,i know that feeling,my car had been damaged multiple times,even by thieves scraping the entire left side while fleeing after failing to steal it,thats why i want to sell mine soon too after fully fixing it and gaining some money,and the E39 is on to top of the list of cars i want next :D ;) I love it, Its so quiet,solid,smooth,relaible and fun.

I think the best one, would be 530i, but their main disadvantage would be the fuel consumption and finding the right one, prices are rising and I really really need/want one as soon as possible (maybe I'll be able to have one a year from now...), I'd like dark green post facelift manual, Msport, 530i E39. Mostly to use to get to the campus, save time and energy(I'm reapplying to university) and having a car, especially this one is so amazing.
@@bag2963 hi. I had not yet,but i plan to. I had some unexpected issues with my current car that were minor but i do not want to sell it untill its fixed. The prices are indeed rising very fast, that is why i want one asap. Also when browsing the offers,there are not many nice pieces within 3k euros. Many are basic or ugly spec or littered with issues. I would want a petrol one too. Ideally 520i 125kw,523i,525i with nice interior. I dont care if it would have M packet or about color. Dark Green M sport 530i are very rare and beautiful. I love black leather and wood trim interior the most. With Dark green i love full beige leather+wood intetior combination. Good luck finding one you want!

Yeah dark green with beige interior and wood trim would be sublime. Why are you looking for the smaller engines? U.K. taxes maybe? I was looking these days and really clean ones were over $5000 the cheapest ones from $2000, I will not miss a bargain chasing exactly dark greens, the things for me are: manual , 3.0, with good maintenance (solved heating problems, good shape exterior and interior) or if I find a cheaper one and fix it up. Also one mate recommended 530D, but I'm not sure we have very bad diesel in here, not sure about the reliability and smoothness too, but it might have solved the consumption problem a bit. Take care.

What is fuel consumption when you drive in the city ( stop&go traffic) and is this engine reliable i am look to buy one with 270k km
Its within 13l in the city,minimum consumption is around 8-9 when cruising. The Straight 6-es in the E39 and overall engines from this BMW era (until 2003) Are very relaible. But you have to take care of them,be gentle to them when they are cold and be on lookout for red flags. They have troubles with eating oil,head gasket leaks if previous owner was abusing it. Also be hearing for rattles,timing or vanos chains might be worn out because of age. Also thermostat may fail or leak coolant-look for abnormal behavior of the temperature gauge in the gauge cluster (showing that coolant temperature is dropping down) or overheating. Overalll these engines are very reliable. Diesels too,but they have more things to be on lookout for. 270k km is fine for this engine if properly maitained,unabused, they can reach well over 400k.

It’s not a 96 er Modell, because the 96er Modell has no its head bag. This one has some head bags. I think it’s a late 97 iger or a 98 Modell 🖖

This motor is too weak! The fun starts with the 2.5i - 5.0i and the 30.D is also great with a manual gearbox!

@@leszekalbin4097 this e39 has 185 horsepower and has also the 2.5l Engine. Its the exact same motor how the 2.5l have.

1) 523i have 170hp not 185hp
2) The engines are not the same. The 523i (M52) was only in the pre-facelift models available. In the facelift, the 23i (M52) was replaced by the 25i (M54) with 192hp. 🙂
@@m.b.6744 if u know thede so well u know surely that the 23i which is the m52b25 is just 170hp because of the "Ansaugbrücke" i dont know how to say it in english :). If u put it on dyno i bet my house on it that my 23i has over 180hp. With the m50 Ansaugbrücke and a good Software it does around 210-220hp.
