    Hi Josh,
Thanks for all this work you have done to create this series of tutorials for us.
Here is my progress so far:
    vimeo.com/418142635
Any comments, criticism or suggestions will be very welcome!
I would be really interested to see how shot requirements are defined in a production.
For example, is there a max deviation acceptable for certain clients?
Any information on deliverables and advice on dealing with Producution departments would be very helpful.
I know that bidding on shots/sequences is only done by MM supes, but for freelancers that's always tricky. Any advice on that?
    Thanks again,
    Dan

no worries, Glad your enjoying them,
      Those looks great! good Job!
I can put up a little video up about show reels and what supervisors look for if that helps? :)
Well pretty much every shot needs a camera, but some can just be done by compositors if its just for 2D, but all 3D jobs would need a camera.
The deviation graph is only really a guide for you to help figure out whats going on, a low deviation is always good, but cameras are very black and white, they either work or dont work, when it comes to quite difficult shots, you can have perfectly good solves with higher deviations.
for bidding on work for freelance, I would always take into consideration of what data they have, the more data the easier it gets, also time is important, how fast you can do shots will be a key element,
you could have a hard shot and do it in a day, but doesn't mean you bid for a day, you could also bid per frame but sometimes even short shots are very difficult,
but you can never really tell untill you see the footage,
not sure if that helps or not :)

Thanks again Josh. It's helpful to get an insight into the thought processes of a senior artist.
Bidding is extremely hard for someone without lots of experience. I suppose the more I use the tools the better I will be at assessing a shot.
I have polished up my showreel, if you have a minute to take a look.

I would be very interested to know what you think. I don't mind if you want to use it as a 'what NOT to do' example!
I have some other VFX related stuff on my blog. One or two PFTrack posts, but mostly FX and CrowdFX

your reel looks good, there are a few small things i would change to improve it, I would try not to have shots with no wire frame or no cones, i just uploaded a little video about Tips on how to get nice looking wire frame and cones for your reel,
      hope that helps :)
