Tim! I can't get enough you and your Tableau videos. It has been the lifeline at work, especially when I need it the most. Whatever you do, keep it coming. You are the only person I know who can explain the concepts and how-to's so well. Athena
Been struggling to make sense of set and parameter actions, looked around everywhere. But your videos on these two actually made it like ...Aah ! now I understand. Thanks !
Hello Tim, just for the record ... I very much appreciate your videos, I'm learning so much watching them. Please keep on doing them. Kind regards Alain Ponroy
Alain! Absolute pleasure. Don’t forget I learn too when making videos. The best way to learn I’ve always thought is to teach so he we are both getting value.
Hello, I did the same thing you did in the calculations but it says "calculation contains errors: can't compare integer and date values". I'm not really good at this yet and I tried checking if it depends on the type of data, I can see that the parameter and that data are both set as dates. I'm a bit confused.
Hello again Tim, how would I ask you a specific question to answer? Do you do private Tableau desktop consulting? I am having trouble with LOD calcs and could use some help understanding.
Tim! In this we swap between two sheets using parameter. What if I have a list of 10 parameters and for each parameter I should use different filter action to navigate to different sheets. Here it satisfies binary condition like if True it navigates to one sheet and false means going to other sheet ,But if I have 10 parameters how to navigate the sheet using filter action
Multiple actions can influence the same sheet. I used 2 actions here to influence a single parameter you could use multiple actions to update multiple parameters. Have you got a clearer explanation of the use case you're trying to build for? more generally, I was teaching technique here as I highlight towards the end of the video. There are quite a few other videos on RUclips already that cover the scenarios better suited to your example. I personally would never use more than 3 to 4 parameters in a workbook unless you're building an application like tool in which case I think it's better to encourage more decision making to narrow the question down to what really matters. Most parameters don't get used.
Tim! How can I submit a question for you to answer? Your videos are life savers and have helped so much , but I have been stuck on a normalization of time issue for weeks and can't get help in the forums!
You ask it here :D Ask it as. anew comment as youtube doesnt notify me of replies to my replies if that makes sense. I dont take private questions. Its a request i get daily and helping people one by one doesn't scale easily or fairly. Hope thats okay. Also usually always already an answer. You able to link to the post in forums as well?
Tim, thank you for these VERY helpful and intuitive videos. Do you offer Tableau consulting also? If so, how would I reach you? Fill free to contact me via my associated email address. Thanks for your help.

Athena, always a pleasure. Thanks for taking the time to leave such a nice note. Your viewership is thanks enough.

You are the best Tim!, thanks!
That could apply for many applications , thank Tim for this great tip !

How do you make sure that data is consistent across multiple reports?
