Timely topic for me. I’m fairly new to quilting and free motion. I’ve been using aurifil because of marketing 😂. I’m seriously thinking about switching to poly due to lint. I’m a little OCD about cleaning my machines. Glad to hear the old myth of poly cutting fabric is broken now.
Good for you. I do try to do my part, but I am not going to use cotton thread. It’s just a pain to work with. I don’t thread is the problem here. BTW, polyester does break down. I just threw a bunch of thread away because it broke when I pulled on it. It was in mom’s thread stash and she’s been gone for 23 years.
I longarmed a quilt for my grandson the other day. It was larger than most other quilts. I used King Tut thread on top and superior on the bottom. The lint was unbelievable.
Hi Susan. I just discovered your RUclips channel. I just started quilting on a Q20 (on the Studio Frame). I was planning to use Isacord thread since I already use it for embroidery. Can you tell me the number of yards of Isacord on a full bobbin? I’d like to be able to set the level.
I have some isacord and haven't used it yet. What needle size do you use? My machine book says use 18/110 for 40wt. However, I think the website says 14/90. Which do I follow. I also had a quilter tell me he always used isacord with 14/90 needles. you said isacord is 50 wt but I thought it was 40 wt.
It is 40 weight - I misspoke and corrected myself later. And I use 90/14 needles most of the time. I currently am partial to topstitch needles - they have a longer eye.
I am adding food for thought. We live in a world of plastic garbage and it is taking over our planet. I currently am trying to avoid it at all costs. I went to the grocery store yesterday so I could make a potato salad and every vegetable is packaged in plastic. I currently only use cotton thread which creates a ton of lint and I use a lot of cheap coats and Clark from Joann fabric. The polyester thread you are using will never go away. I think we all have to do our part to help our environment. I know this isn’t going to change your habits but we are all responsible for this issue
You always look great and speak with presentations. Love your tutorials
I love Wonderfil threads. I use Konfetti (50wt) for piecing and Master Quilter (40wt) for quilting. It never lets me down.

I think it’s safe to say it is. Most lonagarmers I know use poly.

Is there any way to make the videos full screen? The vertical picture is small and hard to watch.

@@StitchedBySusan Thank you so much. I will try a 14 needle when I try the isacord. I appreciate all your videos.
how do you store your threads?
I have a lovely rack that I got from a store that was closing. It's space efficient, and then I have further stock in a deep drawer, out of the light.
Video suddenly stopped! Audio is good.
yeah...camera troubles. It flickered off and back on a couple times...sorry.
